Yueyao couldn't sleep again at night, put on a coat and walked into the courtyard. Tonight there was no moon, nor any wandering clouds; the ink-blue sky seemed to have been washed clean. The stars twinkled overhead, as dazzling as jewels.
Xiang Wei said: "Madam, the dew is heavy at night, if you stay outside too long you'll catch a cold! Let's go inside."
Yueyao shook her head and stood quietly. Back in Haikou, whenever she couldn't sleep because of worries, she liked standing in the courtyard to watch the moon and stars.
No one knew how long had passed, a gust of wind blew, and Yueyao shivered. Xiang Wei pointed to a nearby tree and said: "Look, dew has formed on the tree."
Yueyao looked over, and indeed there were dewdrops hanging on the leaves of the tree. The dewdrops grew bigger and more round until suddenly, they rolled off the leaves.
