Chapter 328 - Chapter : 326 : Was Fooled Again

Hello Everyone, I just want to rant about something that I just found out today. Someone got into my Patreon account, changed the banking info, and transferred the funds out, so now I am sad, disappointed, and broke as fu*k.šŸ˜šŸ’”

The whole day's convention offered far more than just a deep dive into Assassin's Creed, the Warcraft map editor, and its thriving custom RPG scene. The campaign mode stood out as a massive highlight, designed to introduce several indispensable figures to the broader lore. While the story brings heavy hitters like Illidan and Sylvanas into the spotlight, Arthas easily remains the undisputed fan favorite among players.

That popularity is no accident. Over sixty percent of the primary Warcraft campaign revolves around his trajectory, leading straight into the Frozen Throne expansion, an entire narrative arc built around his final, tragic ascension to become the Lich King.

When the main stage lights lit up, showcasing Arthas perched upon the icy throne with Frostmourne resting in his grasp, the venue erupted.

"Alright, if there's anything you're dying to know, I might be able to share a few details," John announced from the stage, offering a warm smile to the crowd. "Though let's keep it strictly about the game."

Behind him, the massive display started randomly scrolling through audience seat numbers. The spinning digits slowed, finally locking onto a single set of coordinates as a bright spotlight swept across the venue and pinned a seat in the back.

The lucky fan, phone still in hand, sat frozen in disbelief. It took a sudden wave of applause from the surrounding crowd to snap him back to reality.

"Looks like you've got the floor," John said with an inviting grin. "Take a second to pick a good one. I know everyone here and on the livestream is eager to hear what you're going to ask."

A staff member rushed over to hand him a microphone. The fan didn't hesitate; he already knew what he wanted. Grabbing the mic, he yelled into it: "Mr. John! Hello! I just need to know one thing: when are we finally getting a sequel to The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim?!"

The entire arena exploded into cheers, the collective roar quickly converging into a single, synchronized chant:

"Dovahkiin!"

"Dragonborn!"

"Dovahkiin!"

"Dragonborn!"

On stage, John pressed his lips together into a thin line. Listening to the thunderous chanting echoing off the walls, he's expression turned remarkably subtle. He waited for the uproar to settle before offering a gentle laugh.

"When it comes to a sequel for Skyrim, it's definitely something actively on our radar," John explained smoothly. "It's a major consideration for the team. We have a clear direction internally for where we want the Elder Scrolls series to go, but we need more time to flesh out the dragon lore and build a story worthy of the franchise. Rest assured, the moment we have solid news to share, our players will be the very first to know."

The crowd stared back at him in collective silence. Players watching the live stream mirrored the exact same bewildered look. The response sounded incredibly polished and reasonable on the surface. But stripped of the PR gloss, it meant one thing: The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim didn't even have a development plan yet!

Rather than lingering on the Skyrim trap, John quickly pivoted back to the digital raffle wheel to select the next attendee.

"Mr. John, I wanted to ask about the upcoming story updates," the next player asked. "Does Arthas completely cross the line into becoming a true villain? And when he turns into the Lich King, is there any part of Arthas left inside, or is he gone entirely?"

It was a question born out of genuine passion for the world of Warcraft. It was also a massive headache for John to answer without spoiling future story beats. Then again, dodging two major questions in a row after deflecting the Skyrim inquiry would look terrible.

John paused for a few seconds, carefully phrasing his response.

"That's actually a really complex question," John began thoughtfuly. "In our original narrative outline, Arthas was never designed to be a simple villain. In fact, he starts with the ultimate hero's archetype: highborn status, a brilliant future, immense talent, and a childhood romance with Jaina."

"Arthas possesses an overwhelming sense of duty, fierce competitiveness, and intense pride. Ironically, those exact traits drive his ultimate tragedy. His fierce sense of responsibility forced his hand at Stratholme; he felt he had no choice but to purge the city before the undead plague could spread any further. A leader with less commitment to the burden of command might have passed that gruesome decision off to Uther."

"Instead, his victory at any cost and his underlying pride shattered his faith in the Light after Stratholme. Combined with his ideological rift with Uther and Jaina, that once-honorable sense of duty twisted into pure hatred. That's what ultimately dragged Arthas down into the dark abyss."

John delivered the lengthy breakdown of Arthas's psychological fall, detailing how a noble prince spiraled into a Death Knight before taking the mantle of the Lich King.

The fan who asked the question slowly took his seat, looking thoroughly enlightened and completely bewildered. He sat there trying to process everything John had just laid out. The character analysis made total sense, and he agreed with most of the narrative beats, yet a subtle feeling of wrongness lingered in the back of his mind.

"Dude, you just got totally played!" whispered the guy sitting next to him, a veteran gamer who saw right through the answer. "You asked him about the future plot of Warcraft, and he just gave you a whole lecture on why Arthas fell in the past!"

Wait... what?! The realization hit him like a lightning bolt. The fan's eyes snapped wide open. Holy crap, he's right! John had talked for minutes, weaving a deeply fascinating character study that kept everyone glued to their seats, without answering the actual question at all! He had smoothly sidestepped the topic again.

The fan slumped back, feeling equal parts impressed and thoroughly cheated. But deep down, he knew there was no point in pushing it. Spoilers of that magnitude were strictly classified; there was no way PixelPioneers would leak their own lore on stage.

Meanwhile, John continued picking audience members, answering questions about various titles across the PixelPioneers catalog. Most attendees kept asking the same core things: sequel updates and upcoming roadmaps.

Over on the forums and stream chats, the entire community was practically losing its mind over John's masterclass in deflection.
