My name is Yasu. At a young age, I was forced to survive on my own. As you can probably guess, I was abandoned by my parents on some random person's doorstep with nothing but my name and the clothes around me.
Wanting nothing to do with me I was tossed aside, thrown into an orphanage. There, I stayed for the next few years before I was ultimately kicked out. I was the outcast of the village, known only as a thief who stole food from them. I was never welcome there. I was an anomaly.
I hated them, I hated my parents, but most of all I hated myself for how weak I was. I wanted strength, and I knew just how I would get it. I heard stories of how people could bend the elements around them, about how they could split the water, crack the earth, set forests ablaze, and ride the winds.
I never saw anyone in the village do it, but maybe I would be the one who had these extraordinary abilities. I thought if I could somehow bend an element then no one would look at me like I was garbage, and so I trained.
I trained and trained, as best as a 10-year-old boy could, after all, what did I have to lose? Every day I went into the forest and trained, I trained day and night, trying to feel a connection to anything. I felt nothing.
Eventually, the villagers got tired of me stealing from them, and chased me out of the village, luckily for me when you have to steal and run from people for a living it's pretty easy to survive out in the wild. I was tough, pushing through day after day, I endured as best I could, but in the end, I gave up.
All my training ended up being fruitless, I fell into a deep despair. I wasn't gifted, I wasn't loved, I wasn't wanted. I was an outcast and that's all I'd ever be. So, one day I just decided to lay out on the grass beneath the Sun and sleep.

Hearing an unknown voice whisper in my ear I gasped awake. It was soft and gentle, almost like a mother's warmth. I was drenched in sweat, my head pounding, and my mind racing. I had one question on my mind.
"Who am I?"
