"I was sent by the Queen Mother to guide you on your journey." Trevor turned to see a dwarf looking up at him.
Trevor's face remained calm and still.
The dwarf, already sensing that Trevor had not truly accepted him, immediately dropped to his knees.
"Please, you have to accept me. If the Queen Mother hears that I was rejected by you, she would be very disappointed in me. Please, just allow me to help you," the dwarf said calmly, without lifting his gaze to Trevor. His head was bowed low, as though he were silently praying that Trevor would not cast him away.
Trevor glanced back at the dwarf, a flicker of something like awe passing through his eyes. He took a deep breath before finally beginning to move.
Given the way the dwarf carried himself, Trevor couldn't bring himself to explain that he was not truly ready to travel with anyone.
