As Maryam nursed Murad back to health, she began to see a different side of him. He was vulnerable, sensitive, and scared, and for the first time, she felt a pang of sympathy for her former boss. She saw the cracks in his facade, the chinks in his armor, and she realized that he was human after all. Maryam felt a sense of wonder, of curiosity, and she began to wonder what had driven him to such desperation.
