Chapter 58 - Chapter 57: The One Who Challenged The Gods

Sabrina's body burnt away and left behind a charred black body.

Suddenly horns grew out of where her eyes once were.

The mouth widened which revealed a set of devilish sharp teeth, pure white in colour. The body features changed from that of a woman to a man as it increased drastically in size.

A black cloak covered its neck like a cape but the rest of it's body remained naked.

It had no reproductive organs, a completely reddish-black burnt body.

"Time to complete my mission," Vanis voiced out in a tone so ghastly it could crack glass.

He tried to take a step forward but he felt something holding him back, something inside him.

"Could it be her?"

Fate. What exactly was it? Sabrina had pondered this question many times. Was it something that she decided with her hands or was it something written down by a higher being?

Over years she had decided it was the latter, only someone who hated her before she was even born could write such a disgusting story for someone, except it was for their own amusement.

"Well, they should watch now, I'm going to destroy that dirty fate of theirs with my own hands."

Standing in front of a red subspace, she spotted a crimson crystal further down the room.

'That should be his mana core.' She thought as he tied her long hair into a bun.

"Let's go, Vanis! No one cons Sabrina Page and gets away with it!" She yelled as a purple glowing scythe formed in her hand.

"I was researching this mana energy, as I guessed it's not of this world, the same that Jayden Reginald possesses. It's a good thing I got my hands on some, apparently I can't damage it with normal mana but if I imbue a little in all my attacks, then…"

She ran forward and suddenly a sharp tentacle aimed for her head, but swinging the scythe, she sliced through it easily.

"Time for payback, Vanis!" Engulfing herself in mana, she breathed.

"Aura extension: Hell's torment." Without warning, the souls of every single person that Sabrina had killed appeared and simultaneously started to attack the crystal and by no means were the souls small in number.

The souls went forward, but they lacked the physical prowess and skill to pass through the defence mechanism of the crystal.

"Tsk, guess I'll have to do it myself."

Using them as distractions, Sabrina launched herself and started to slash everything around her at a wild, violent speed.

A black disc nearly grazed her, but skilfully turning around and jumping into the air, she dodged the attack.

A torrent of tentacles moved towards her, ignoring the rest of the souls, realizing she was the real threat here.

"Are you scared, huh?" The attacks burst with a single horizontal slash.

"Fate, listen to me! I am Sabrina Page, the one who challenged a god!" She shouted at the top of her lungs, excitement coursing wildly through her veins.

Suddenly everything went silent, time paused, except Sabrina, that is.

"You really are an amusing person, the first human to stray from my path of their own will." A glowing white light orbiting her echoed.

"Are you Fate?" Sabrina asked calmly.

"Yes, you have guessed so. I am Fate, the…" It was interrupted as the scythe divided it into two.

"Then get the fuck out of my life, you really thought I was going to listen to you after the shitty life you gave me. What a fool." Sabrina sighed in disgust as she stared at the fading light with disgust.

"I didn't take this into account. You really are special, Sabrina Page. Well, I just came to tell you about your new title."

"Title?" Sabrina asked with suspicion, raising the scythe up again, ready to cut it again.

"{The one who challenged the gods}, Sabrina Page."

And with that the light disappeared.

Time returned back to normal, and another tentacle was about to hit but the second she turned and looked at it, the tentacle hesitated, as if afraid of Sabrina.

She quickly cut it down and kept moving, faster and stronger than she ever was.

Her army were almost destroyed, it was expected, they were distractions after all.

Closing in on the crystal, she raised her scythe, deeply imbued with mana and swung her scythe but the defense mechanism of Vanis's mana core had already adapted, if not evolved and instead of a tentacle, multiple blades shot out towards her neck.

"Fuck, I underestimated it." She braced herself for an attack that did not land.

When she opened her eyes, she saw the silhouette of someone familiar.

"Y'know, I've been watching here for a while and I wanted to kill you myself but…but maybe you'd still have some use here so I'm sparing you. For now, that is."

Looking up, she saw her savior. Nadia Samir.

The young girl stood with an ice barrier, protecting her and Sabrina from the onslaught of blades aimed at her.

"Why? Why did you…"

"Shut your mouth, Sabrina Page. I might just let go of this barrier. There are two reasons, I want to kill you myself and also, weakening him here might benefit Jayden. So don't make me kill you now." Nadia said, the barrier barely holding up.

"Do you think you could kill me if…" She stopped as Nadia turned and faced her, eyes full of rage.

"Sorry." The words came out instinctively from Sabrina's mouth. The little girl that she had used was gone, she couldn't blame Nadia. Who wouldn't be pissed at their killer?

Grabbing Nadia, she teleported away from the range of the attack.

"I have a plan. Do you trust me?" Sabrina asked as she stood up again and swung her scythe again.

Nadia looked at her in disgust as she dusted her clothes.

"That was wrong phrasing of words. I have a plan and I need your help." Sabrina rephrased as she held out her hand.

"What's the plan?" Nadia asked, rejecting her hand.

A few minutes later, Nadia stood at the far end of the room summoning her mana.

"Do you think you can do it?" Nadia asked as water started to spiral around her.

"Of course I can. After all, I am Sabrina Page, the one who challenged the gods!" She shouted with a thumbs up. And she was off.

Moving like a blur, the fastest she had ever before, multiple possibilities playing in her head as three discs of dark mana orbited around her, blocking any stray attacks she couldn't dodge.

Ten tentacles sprouted from the ground, but as they were still rising they were slashed into pieces.

She reached the crystal and raising her scythe, burning with a purple flame and struck the crystal the first time.

Spikes blasted out but she blocked it, and released the fastest consecutive strikes she herself had ever seen on the crystal, numbering to over a hundred.

Red spikes erupted from everywhere around the vicinity of the crystal and stabbed Sabrina multiple times, in different parts of her body.

"I don't feel pain since I'm already dead, but the same doesn't apply to you, Nadia over to you. Fuck this guy up for me."

"Shut the hell up, Sabrina Page, when we meet in hell, I'll kill you myself so wait for me." Nadia said as she was almost done with her part of the plan.

Sabrina shivered a little at the plain coldness of it then smiled. "Deal."

As Sabrina's body started to fade away, purple flames flew from her body to where Nadia stood, their last attack ready.

"So this is how it ends…Not with my mother but with someone I killed."

Sabrina laughed at the irony of the situation as she left the world and the fate of their plan in the hands of a sixteen year old girl.

Nadia stood with a wide ring of water above her head, having compressed and compressed the water till it was the size of a floating string hovering over her head.

The flames fused with the water and the string of water became purple in colour as she held it.

"Let's end this shit once and for all. Jayden, Ren, Dad, I wish all of you good luck. Kick his ass for me."

Sprinting and closing the distance in seconds due to the mobility of her ice skates, she reached the range of the crystal and as expected spikes shot out at her.

"Even if I'm already dead, I'm not getting stabbed by that." Nadia mused as she jumped over a few but one managed to pierce her hand and drag her back.

Her legs trembled…but she didn't fall.

"Fuck!!" She screamed in anger as without a moment's hesitation she severed her own left arm with a sharp blade of water.

Adrenaline coursing through her entire being, she escaped the remaining and jumped directly onto the crystal and stabbed their last attack.

The string of flame water burnt immensely against the hard shell of the crystal.

"You really think you can make a mock of my final move." Nadia screamed as countless water discs appeared in the air and continuously struck the crystal and other dark blades.

"Aura Extension: Queen of the Ocean."

Countless water spikes, slashes and water bullets shot out with high speed as Nadia manipulated them to keep hitting, even the drops.

Cracks appeared on the crystal and a single drop of water seeped through.

A red spike suddenly impaled Nadia's chest and sent her flying.

"You're done." Nadia shouted with a wicked smile as she snapped her fingers. "Explode!"

The single dropped of water that seeped in, exploded from inside out and a purple flaming spider entered through the cracks.

"Consider this our gifts from the other side." Nadia smiled as her body began to fade away.

"I really didn't want to die but this isn't really a bad way to go out. I'm counting on you guys. I leave the rest to you, Jayden."

And with that, the brave yet short story of Nadia Samir came to an end.

….....

"Kevin, you should leave. It's dangerous here." Jayden warned.

"Why, leaving you alone is dangerous until reinforcement comes."

"No, that thing isn't human, nor is it an undead, truthfully, I think I'm the only one that can stand up to it and knowing how smart you are, you're probably aware of it as well."

"Of course I know that, even his voice is shaking me to the bone but I can't see it fit leaving you here alone with him, even though you seem unfazed by the current turn of events."

Jayden smiled as the statement.

"So you're actually a nice guy after all, let me just give you a short explanation, I was born to fight people like this and even stronger. People way, and I mean way stronger than this, I've seen stronger so I'm not scared."

Seeing Kevin's confused face for the first time was nice but he slowed down.

"It's my duty, I know it all sounds stupid but you have to believe me."

"Well, you've done some surprising shit. I don't think I can be shocked by anything more."

At that moment, Vanis came back to.

"Humans truly are getting stronger, this race remains the best for choosing incarnations." Vanis said as he held his heart.

"Chit-chat's over. Run now." Jayden said urgently.

"I'm off." Turning, he gave Jayden a slight tap on his shoulder for luck.

"See ya on the other side." Kevin said as he ran off to help the others.

Fully concentrated now, Jayden turned to Vanis who stood still, slightly observing him.

"Were you sent by him?" Jayden asked as he placed his hand on the hilt of his sword.

"Who do you speak of?" Vanis growled.

"The one who is the one."

"Yes, my master…."

"All right." Jayden interjected "Then that's all I need to know. You die today."
