Chapter 61 - Chapter 60: The Monster Called Rage

With Sabrina gone, the mana supply linking all the undead quickly collapsed, and they were finished off swiftly.

"That's the last one." Kevin sighed as he slashed the head of the last walking undead.

Slumped, he sat on the ground among the vanishing undead, utterly exhausted with a smile on his face.

After he had left Jayden, feeling slightly like excess baggage he decided to help out in the extermination of the undead.

Thanks to 2, the undead had been reduced by half and he dealt personally with most of the remaining.

Normally, he would have gone back to safety, after all he wasn't even a knight yet.

His short but eventful encounter with Jayden Reginald had changed something in him, but what exactly that was, he didn't know yet.

Lost in his thoughts he didn't hear when his classmates ran over to him.

Amy jumped on his back in relief and unlike before, he didn't push her off, but rested his head on her shoulder.

"Hey Amy. Y'know, you shouldn't jump on people like that. What if I was injured?" Kevin joked as he let out a small laugh and greeted his other classmates who sat with him, surprised by his cheerful attitude.

"Are you sure you're my Kevin, you're acting quite funny." Amy stared into his eyes, which for once had some color to it, a sharp contrast to before his fight.

"Who else would I be?" Kevin replied, meeting her gaze.

He raised his head and looked at the star like projectile moving through the sky in wonder.

"What's that?" Kevin asked.

"Supposedly, that's Jayden Reginald and Nadia, the evil one I think."

Understanding that it was probably Vanis, Kevin smiled and raised his hand.

"Go get him, Fantasy."

….....

Two bodies crashed on an asteroid and jumped off.

Jayden threw a stone he had picked up, and as Vanis dodged it, he closed the distance and threw a punch which Vanis blocked by crossing his arms.

The impact crushed the asteroid and they jumped away, onto different asteroids.

Activating Doubler, Jayden shouted "One hundr…"

Before he could finish, another golden sheet of mana wrapped around his mouth instantly.

"What was that for?" Jayden thought as the sheet disappeared back into his body.

Vanis stood from a distance watching, trying to discover Jayden's weakness.

He had made a lot of silly mistakes.

"I underestimated Luke Reginald once again. What was that attack? He didn't use it last time. The story is changing and I was too careless to notice it early. Everyone in this time is definitely stronger than they were before. Is this Fantasy's doing?"

Countless questions were running through his mind, but the thing that was at the forefront was how strong Jayden was, and whether he could become stronger than he already was.

He was injured badly, although he tried to hide it. The last attack that Luke had dealt on him was deadly, he knew if he received another attack like that before he fully healed, he could die.

"I have to get answers. If I remember correctly, humans, especially Fantasy were sensitive to death and topic like that." Vanis smiled.

Logic Disruption had become autonomous and was acting of it's own will but the problem wasn't that, it was that he didn't know why.

Bringing him out of his sea of thoughts, Vanis asked.

"Fantasy, how much do you know about constellations.. or do you know exactly what they are?" Vanis asked, trying to sound as polite as possible.

"What a stupid distraction, it's obvious even from the get go." Jayden thought as he tried to hide his disgust but looking at his hand almost healed he decided to stall and indulge Vanis.

"I know about their existence, although I've only met one other than you. He called himself Fate." Jayden deliberately left out the fact he had seen Munar, who from what he could see was way stronger than Vanis.

Upon hearing the name Fate, his heart skipped multiple beats in fear.

"When? How? Why? Yes it should be a title, so the curse is already active. That's good, but when did he get the title. Was it then…"

Remembering when Jayden had dodged his punch, he could feel the mana residue of someone else but he didn't know exactly what it was.

'Behave calm, ask the next question' Vanis calmed himself as retaining a straight face, he asked the next question.

"Then are you aware of the world reset and what happened? Apparently only a few constellations retained their memories from it, and I'm one of them."

Jayden frowned, remembering future Jayden explaining to him how his parent died to Vanis, trying to protect him.

"Hook line and sinker."

"What's the face for? Oh you know that everyone died then. The blue haired girl and Sabrina at least tried to damage me before they died, it wasn't a useless death unlike the last one. They were stumped like bugs under my legs, it was pitful, simply…"

"Shut up, Vanis!" Jayden ordered, losing his cool.

"Come on, you don't think their still alive, it's probably because of their death you've survived till now, due to them damaging my core, just like your pare…"

"I said, Shut up!" Jayden shouted, mana from his surrounding getting absorbed into his body.

'I thought since Sabrina was still in there, there was a chance that Nadia could still be alive too. Don't tell me they both died trying to weaken Vanis?'

Noticing the rage building up in the boy, Vanis decided to push further.

"Don't you want to know how they died? You're father is a special one, seriously. I wanted to turn him into my incarnation but he refused and when I used my magic to control him, he killed himself realizing he was going to have to fight against you. Your mother, what a mage! She was…."

This time Vanis stopped of his on accord. He felt chills down his boiling bones.

Deja vu.

Vanis remembered, everyone did.

The day Fantasy single handedly invaded the constellation's realm after they destroyed his planet and killed everyone while he was away on a mission.

That day the death count for the constellations were over two hundred.

"Vanis, you know, I realized something. Anytime I fought, whether I wanted to or not, my body always held itself back, also I didn't want the blood of anyone to be on my hands. I didn't believe in killing…"

Jayden stopped and looked at his hands and when he raised his head up, his eyes were empty, an endless pit of cold rage.

"…but this time, I wouldn't want you to die by any other hand than mine. I have one last question. Why do you do this?"

"Do I need any reason to seek destruction. You humans are useless…"

Before he could finish, he found himself crashing through an asteroid, then the next.

Vanis had made a deadly mistake, one that would cost him everything.

Jayden had hoped that Vanis would say that he was under the control of The One, that he had no other choice, maybe then, Jayden could have related with him but he had seen it and finally understood it.

Constellations must all die.

Punching him through an asteroid, the asteroid broke into countless pieces but controlling them, they began to move back to Vanis with extreme speed.

"Not this again." Vanis thought as he wanted to fly out but suddenly his face met the leg of Jayden which sent him spiraling back.

Urrgh.

He tried to grab Jayden but he had swapped places with another rock and kicked

 him on his side.

The barrage continued from all sides, the floating pieces of debris a kind of prison for Vanis.

"Meteor of execution, flaming birds, vortex tornado." Vanis shouted desperately calling different abilities.

The meteor began to fall with the birds and tornadoes of fire honing on Jayden.

"I'm ready for that now." Jayden whispered as he raised his right hand, fully regenerated back.

"Convert." All of a sudden, the gigantic meteor that almost destroyed Avarice turned to water and poured on Jayden.

Controlling it, he used it to counter the flame attacks.

Whilst distracted, Vanis charged as much firepower into his legs and speared Jayden towards a small planet.

"Get off me, you monster!" Jayden ordered as Logic Disruption sprouted out of his back and wrapping Vanis, flung him into the planet.

"What is this? What is this power? I might actually die at this rate." Vanis thought in dread as he coughed out blood.

"What do you mean 'might'. You wil die here." Jayden replied him telepathically as he landed with his two feet and crushed Vanis into the ground.

Changing positions, he sat on top of Vanis and shouted "One thousand!"

Eyes widening in fear as adrenaline surged through him, Vanis tried to throw Jayden off himself.

The ground formed cuffs and chains and held Vanis back, on command by Jayden.

The first blow landed, like a hammer smashing against glass.

The punch tore through the air with a thunderclap, a shock wave rippling outward in a widening ring that cracked the ground.

Raising his fist, he looked to see Vanis with just a broken nose.

This time, gathering his own natural strength, stacked with lightning for speed, and the Doubler effect.

"You really are a god. All that for just a broken nose." Jayden screamed as he continued to punch, the force doubling with each punch.

"Two thousand."

Vanis's hand began to twitch, desperately looking for a means for survival.

"Three thousand."

The planet began to shake to its very core. Each punch sending them deeper into the core of the planet.

"Four thousand."

Little flame birds came out from the fingertips of Vanis and hit Jayden but did next to no damage.

Jayden hesitated slightly, already knowing what would come next after this, then steeling himself, clenched his fist.

"Five thousand."

Jayden landed an blow, but the wind didn't seem to ripple like it had before and that's when he noticed that the skill had been canceled.

"That's strange, I didn't cancel it so what happ…"

He paused as he looked at Vanis, or to be more accurate, what remained of Vanis.

Parts of his brain were splattered on Jayden's hand mixed in with sand, stones and blood.

His body, a bag of holes caused by the internal shock waves creating internal pressure spikes that blew out across his body.

Jayden stood up slowly and dusted his only remaining clothing, his trousers, the rest evaporated at different points due to the fight.

Suddenly, the body of Vanis began to fade away as another glowing orb entered the body of Jayden, Vanis's celestial mana.

The wounds on his body suddenly healed and the pieces of Vanis that were on Jayden faded away.

Even though it had all faded away, the feel remained.

He could remember the feel of Vanis's bone against his fist and when that broke too.

Jayden had just killed someone but he didn't have time to dwell on it as he suddenly felt malicious mana above him.

Looking up, he saw the silhouette of a hooded person holding a sword in his hand with his other behind his back.

"I'm sorry to fight like this but I don't intend to waste my time here."

The figure charged at Jayden, his sword extended forward, aimed directly for the kill.
