Chapter 166 - Ch 164 - The Unseen Course

Further up on the upper deck, Kuina and Ain leaned against the railings, watching the subtle interactions below.

"Chaton's pride took a hit again," Ain commented, brushing her hair back. Her eyes sparkled with amusement.

Kuina smirked. "I think Luffy enjoys making people squirm a little."

"He does look cute when he's smug," Ain muttered with a little smile, then caught herself. "I mean ugh, I didn't say that."

Kuina raised an eyebrow. "Sure. And I don't sleep with Wado Ichimonji tucked under my pillow."

"Do you?"

"I won't deny it."

The two giggled softly, a rare moment of lightness before the storm ahead.

Meanwhile, near the navigation wheel, Kujaku and Gion were having their own quiet conversation.

Gion leaned in, whispering, "He's hiding something. This isn't just a 'training session.' You can feel it too, can't you?"

Kujaku nodded, her fingers spinning her staff idly. "He has that look. The same one before he cause trouble."

Gion glanced at Luffy, still lounging in his chair with his hat tilted forward.

"He's smiling… but his eyes aren't."

Back down at the deck, Zoro spoke again, his voice low.

"You've seen the change in him too, haven't you?" He asked Chaton, who nodded silently.

"Yeah. He's stronger, sharper but something's… heavier. Like he's carrying more than just ambition now."

Zoro stared at the sea.

"He's not just chasing dreams anymore," Zoro muttered. "He's planning something bigger. Maybe even something that'll burn the world."

Chaton felt a chill run down his spine.

The warship sailed further and further from Marineford, the island slowly disappearing behind the morning mist.

------

Back at Marineford...

The late morning sun bathed the towering walls of Marineford in golden light, the clouds drifting slowly as if the world were calm.

But inside the high office of the Fleet Admiral, the atmosphere was anything but.

Sengoku sat in his chair, dressed in his iconic white coat draped over his shoulders, meticulously sipping a steaming cup of green tea. His glasses sat on the tip of his nose as he flipped through paperwork, looking peaceful.

Across the room, Garp was lounging casually on a couch, legs spread, stuffing his mouth with senbei crackers.

Beside him sat Tsuru, composed and calm as ever, sipping her tea with elegance.

A fourth presence lingered... Zephyr, the legendary former admiral. Though no longer in active duty, his towering frame and military bearing still commanded respect. His arms folded over his chest, he had dropped in for a rare visit with old comrades intending to enjoy tea and nostalgia.

But peace never lasted long where Luffy was concerned.

Bang!

The doors slammed open as a young Rear Admiral practically tripped inside.

"Fleet Admiral Sengoku, urgent report!!" the officer cried, saluting sharply, sweat dripping from his temple.

Everyone turned their heads to look at him.

Sengoku blinked over his glasses. "Speak."

"Vice Admiral Monkey D. Luffy's personal warship has just set sail. They've left the harbor without notifying command!"

The teacup in Sengoku's hand paused mid-air. His eyes slowly turned toward the officer, as if trying to process if he'd just heard a hallucination.

Zephyr raised an eyebrow.

Tsuru's fingers stopped mid-motion, her tea halfway to her lips.

As for Garp, he just kept munching over the senbei with no care.

Splash!

"Gah!" Sengoku choked on his tea, coughing violently.

Garp chuckled behind his crackers. "Easy there, Buddha-man, you'll drown before Luffy ever does."

Sengoku's face flushed red. He slammed his hand on the table.

BANG!

"THAT BRAT!! AGAIN?!"

Zephyr gave a deep sigh, rubbing his temple. "That boy's getting bolder."

"He's inherited too much of your blood, Garp!" Sengoku roared, veins bulging on his forehead. "And your damn rebellious streak!"

The Rear Admiral was still saluting awkwardly.

Sengoku stood up so fast his chair scraped back. "Relay my orders immediately! Contact Admiral Aokiji and tell him to pursue Luffy's warship and report his every movement. GO!"

"Yes, sir!" the Rear Admiral turned on his heel and dashed out, the door slamming behind him with a CLANG!

A tense silence filled the room.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA!!..."

Garp howled with laughter, slapping his knee so hard that senbei crumbs flew across the room.

"I swear, that brat! What a guy! No heads-up... just sails off like the sea belongs to him!"

Sengoku twitched. "IT'S NOT FUNNY, GARP!"

"He's your Vice Admiral! You promoted him!" Garp cackled.

Sengoku nearly turned into a golden Buddha on the spot.

Zephyr gave Garp a flat look. "If you laugh any harder, the World Government might come fire you retroactively."

Tsuru finally sipped her tea again, sighing softly. "This is Luffy we're talking about. You could never put a leash on him."

Sengoku threw himself back in his chair with a frustrated groan, rubbing his forehead as though massaging away the headache.

"And he didn't even file a mission report… What the hell is he planning now? A 'training mission'? A pirate raid? Another declaration of war?"

Zephyr smirked faintly. "Maybe all three."

Sengoku groaned louder.

"Don't forget," Zephyr added, "your 'model soldier' recently assassinated a Shichibukai."

Garp grinned. "Hanafuda, right? That bastard had it coming."

"Coming or not, he was a government-sanctioned pirate," Sengoku snapped. "The World Governement is furious. They think Luffy's trying to dismantle the system one piece at a time."

Tsuru gave a half-smile. "Maybe he is."

Sengoku's eye twitched.

"I mean…" Tsuru shrugged, "Luffy's not the type to start a quiet revolution. If he wants to change the world, he'll punch it in the face."

"Exactly!" Garp beamed proudly. "That's my grandson!"

"Stop smiling!" Sengoku shouted. "You're not helping!"

"But it's true!" Garp retorted. "He's got his fists, his freedom, and a brain full of rebellion! You think he's gonna sit around filing mission forms?"

Zephyr chuckled quietly. "You know, I always have hopes for that kid… and lately, I'm starting to see him as a necessary evil."

Sengoku's jaw clenched. "If he wasn't so damn effective, I'd have court-martialed him already."

He exhaled deeply and slumped in his seat, pinching the bridge of his nose.

Tsuru looked out the window toward the distant sea, the sunlight gleaming off the waves. Her voice turned distant.

"You know… if he were anyone else, we'd call him a loose cannon. But Luffy's not just reckless. He chooses his moments."

Zephyr nodded. "He's got an old soldier's instincts. I hate to say it, but he's a better tactician than half the idiots on the Strategic Council."

Sengoku frowned, thoughtful now.

"…Maybe," he muttered. "But if he keeps this up, he'll burn too many bridges. One day, the World Government won't care how strong he is. They'll just want him gone."

Garp popped another cracker. "Then he'll fight them too! I know my grandson the best."

"He's still a Marine!" Sengoku snapped.

"For now." Tsuru's voice was quiet but sharp.

Everyone fell silent again.

For a moment, only the sound of Garp's munching and the distant screech of seagulls filled the room.

Sengoku closed his eyes, weary.

"…I just hope," He murmured, "that kid doesn't pull something that turns the world upside down."
