The hall was silent, but after a moment, many inside began whispering quietly.
"Indeed, according to this theory, what this young lad says seems to have some truth to it. Then why even fight?"
"It's the fear that you think this way, but others won't reciprocate. Instead, they'll gather strength and, once powerful enough, bite you back. Who can bear that when the time comes?"
Someone disdainfully spoke up.
Those present were all savvy individuals, having lived to a great age, they had seen the ungrateful act of returning kindness with resentment too many times. Leaving a threat unhandled at one's side, what else could that be but foolishness?
Thinking thus, their gaze shifted to the elder, as if looking at a fool.
