Susanoo was just like Da Yu from Huaya mythology, the Da Yu who tamed the floods—he was a deity who defeated countless ferocious beasts and made this land livable for humans!
His most famous battle was the one against Yamata no Orochi.
However, some say Yamata no Orochi was killed, and that the later Yamata no Orochi that appeared was a good serpent, helping people live better lives, thus earning the love and respect of the Dongying people.
But others believe that Yamata no Orochi was never completely slain, and was instead enlightened by Susanoo, turned into a benevolent creature that helped the Dongying people live, which was why the Dongying people came to worship it as a deity.
And in the myths, after helping the Dongying people, Susanoo kept heading east, traveling all over the world, all for the sake of helping more people in need.
