He Li already had her phone out and waiting. At Huang Deping's command, she immediately started calling his friends.
The first call didn't go through. The next didn't answer. She tried a third, but again, nothing.
She went through Huang Deping's entire contact list, calling every single one of his friends. Not a single call connected.
"How could this be?"
He Li was completely bewildered, a sudden panic rising in her heart. She told Huang Deping, "Honey, I can't get through to any of them."
"What? That's impossible…" Huang Deping scrambled up and used his own phone to call all his friends again.
Just as she had said, not a single call connected.
How could this happen? Huang Deping was flabbergasted. If one person was busy and didn't answer, that would be normal. But for all of them to be unreachable? Something was seriously wrong.
