Chapter 15 - Investigating School

"Belmont boy." A man with a gloomy vibe called out to Evan who was trying to sneak into class.

The man turn to face the class. His eyes landing on Evan who just sat on his chair.

"You are late." The man words sent a shiver down Evan spine.

"This is a bit surprising, you are never late."

"Tell me, what excuse do you have this time?" Vincent Woke, the math teacher of 10-A stare at Evan as if he was trying to pierce a hole into his head.

"I- I uhhh..." Evan stuttered out of fear. Of all the teachers, it just had to be his math teacher for second session.

"I woke up late."

"As expected. Judging by how you are sweating and hyperventilating that could be the only reasonable answer." Teacher Woke stated before continuing,"Its good that you didn't lie to me this time or I wouldn't mind giving you a hundred math questions 10 from different topics I have yet to teach any of you yet."

"And since this is the first time this ever happen I will let you off. Just don't let it happen again."

"Thank you Teacher Woke!" The students of 10-A wore surprised faces. Evan sincerely thanked him with a sigh of relief.

"Sigh. Teaching is a pain." Teacher Woke muttered as he continue writing on the whiteboard.

Today was a Thursday so everyone got an activity base off what they learned yesterday.

Twenty minutes later the class ended. Vincent Woke grabbed everyone books before letting them out for lunch.

"Teacher Woke could I have a moment of your time?" Just when he was getting ready to leave someone called out to him.

"What is it?" He turn to see that it was Evan.

"Belmont boy? Could you hurry up. I am going to miss the gacha livestream."

"Gacha livestream? You play those games." Evan stared at him in shock and confusion. He felt like the image he had in mind of his Teacher crumbling.

"Don't let me repeat myself twice." The teacher quickly got irritated so Evan quickly said what was on his mind.

"Suspicious activities at the school? Why are you curious about that?"

"Well you know my friend April is the current president of the News Club. She's trying to gather intriguing information for the School's Newspaper." Evan said with a straight face.

"Is that so.. well." Vincent Woke touch his chin while contemplating.

"Apart from the old principal being removed from his position as principal and that the Warren's Family has taken over the school there isn't much else."

"And you already know of this." He looked at Evan to see him nodding his head.

"Hmm... there is an abandoned house though. I'm sure you know of the house across the street owned by the school." Evan eyes lit up when he heard this.

He quickly took out a small notebook to look as professional as possible before saying, "please continue Teacher Woke."

"Let's start off with the history of the abandon house. The house belongs to the very first principal of this school. As you know the school has a 300 year history."

The principal back then bought this house for her son whose a veteran of the many wars that occur 300 years ago. He was stationed at Yureimura since they were close allies with Saint Louis back then.

After King Dorian Silverblade created Ceistrica he came back to Saint Louis. Unfortunately, the war was very brutal and he lost both his eyes, becoming blind for the rest of his life.

Knowing this the mother, the principal bought a house close to the school knowing she couldn't forsake her responsibilities as principal.

"After the both of them died the school faced a crisis and was nearly shutdown so they had to abandon the house."

"Everything was alright until five years ago when students who hang around the house claims to see a woman dress in a white gown moving about the house."

"Many believe it's a beggar since she keeps saying she's hungry, but there are also some who thinks she is a ghost."

"Anyways that is all I know so leave me alone now." Before Evan could ask anymore questions the teacher ran away in a hurry.

"Scary yet weird teacher..."

At lunch instead of going to kendo club, Evan spent the rest of the time asking teachers about strange activities going on at the school.

"Never heard of any." Sophie Holmes shook her head.

"Is that all?"

"Huh? Oh yes, Teacher Holmes." She asked rather docile causing Evan to pause for a good two seconds before responding.

She whispered something before leaving.

Watching her trying her best not to run away Evan chuckled. "It seems like Alexa words got through that thick skull of hers."

"Strange activities? Never heard of any."

"There's no such thing going on in this school."

"Who did you hear that from? I might need to teach them a lesson."

"None."

Evan asked a bunch of teachers but did not get anything from them.

"It seems like it's just that abandoned house." Evan mumbled, crouching his head down on his desk.

"Why the long face?" Evan turn his head sideways to see one of his classmates looking at him with a teasing smile.

April Raspberry, his second best friend and the School's News Club president.

Blonde hair, fierce, ambitious blue eyes. Her looks are average at best but her personality and charisma makes it hard to not give her a second look.

"I heard you were gathering info for my News Club. How sweet of you! So, what did you find?" She took a seat next to Evan and stared at Evam face unblinking.

She was also quite shameless, hard to embarrassed.

Evan already used to her by now also stare into her face unblinking.

"I was trying to find spicy info about the school but ended up with hardly anything."He grumbled, his mission was to investigate the school but doing so seems to be a bit too difficult as there was nothing to investigate.

"So what did you find?"

Staring into his friend's curious eyes he said, "nothing. Just some old news about the school abandoned house. You know, the one previously owned by our very first principal."

"Hn. It's very hard to find anything spicy about this school. The staff members makes sure nothing that can spread into rumors ever get out. Especially now that the Warren's Family has taken over the school." April remove her gaze away from Evan and tilt her chair a bit.

"That's why we only make news about what happens at other schools. Did you hear? Our Rivals, Specter High is coming here in a week from now."

"What for?" Evan questioned. Specter High School was also on Mark Street 6 and just a couple minutes away from Phantom High School.

Due to this, the students of each school can't ignore one another and because of an incident involving a fight between the two schools that led to the death of two students from Phantom High they can never get along.

This fight broke out cause of rumors of Specter students raping one of Phantom female students.

Naturally, this led to an everlasting hate between the two schools.

Evan remembered this event well. He was there when the fight broke out. In fact, he was one of them who initiated the fight. Sadly, he couldn't save the two students since Specter students ganged up on him and outnumbered him.

One of the many sins Evan can never forgive himself for.

"I heard it's because Specter High sponsor is coming to pay their respects to the Warren's Family."

"Why come to the school for that? Isn't that a bit too much."

"Heh, you know how Specter High is. They can't stand us being in the spotlight for too long.

"How stupid." He scuffed.

"Are you angry they will come steal your little wife?" She teased.

"Little wife????" Unable to stop a blush, Evan buried his head on the desk.

"Is she not? She came looking for you yesterday and took you away. You two even hold hands~"

"You're making it sound like holding hands is a weird thing." With his head still on the desk, Evan tried to rebuke her.

"It isn't at all! But for the lady to do it first, don't you think that's uncanny?"

"You are making no sense."

"What I'm trying to say is..." April muttered, got up from the chair and slapped Evan hard on the back.

"Hey!" Evan let out a furious yelp.

"You need to man up!" She laughed before running to her own seat.

Before Evan could get his revenge, the geography teacher entered the class and immediately began the lesson.

"Open your books to..."

Evan grit his teeth hard the whole lesson.

Classes quickly ended. With revenge still in mind Evan searched the class like a hawk for April but only found his Marc smiling at him.

He growled. "Don't tell me you came to defend that witch."

"I wish but can't you see she already left?" Evan growled some more. Indeed, she left even before the classes finish.

Her excuse being to go to the bathroom she some how managed to sneak out of class with her bag in hand.

She was already gone.

"Tomorrow then." Evan promised.

"Come on Evan why don't you let it go? I know you don't keep grudges for long."

"Quite the opposite." Evan sneered. The red-eyed demon appeared in his mind.

Evan with Marc in toll left the school and went to the taxi stand.

On their way. They saw his sister Amber standing silently there.

Alongside Alexa.

Evan felt an headache coming the moment he saw this, his face turn ugly making Marc chuckle.

The two boys came up to them and greeted.

"Hey Amber I didn't see you yesterday. What's up?" Marc greeted with a charming smile.

"..." She did not respond.

Marc didn't mind. He knew her face too well to know when she's pissed she would act like this. He turn to Alexa and greeted as well.

"Hello senior! At a distant I couldn't tell, but now that I'm up close I can see you truly are beautiful."

Evan casted him a disgusted look but he did not mind. "My name is Marc Perkins, I'm one of Evan's only friends."

"You're making it sound like I don't have many friends."

"That's cause you don't."

"You..."

Alexandra turn to Marc and flashed him a kind smile. "Ah, so you are one of Evan's friends. Thank you for taking care of him all this time."

She bowed her head slightly. Evan was speechless at her amazing acting skills.

"No need to thank me. Evan might be a trouble kid but he have a good heart. It was pretty easy taking care of him. But to think I would one day see him getting married."

"I'm nearly moved to tears." Marc wiped his eyes with an handkerchief.

"No I insist. Without you Evan would not have made it this far in life."

"Well if you put it that way it does make sense!"

"What the fuck?" Evan could not believe what he was listening to.
