Chapter 440: Sigurd — Chaos

Boom!!!

'Kiana is pregnant? I'm going to be a father?'

Pregnancy is caused by the fusion of sperm and egg cells; in essence, it is the recombination of genetic chains…

The Earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago…

The universe originated from a Big Bang; from a higher-dimensional perspective, it is the result of the interaction between the rules of the Imaginary Tree and the Sea of Quanta…

From the perspective of Information-Origin Theory, the Life Equation, which can repair a soul and recombine it with the body, can be written as…

At that moment, countless pieces of knowledge and thoughts flashed through Sigurd's mind. It was as if he were analyzing the very truth of the universe.

Then voices began calling to him from a distant world.

"Sigurd… Sigurd… Sigurd!!!"

Sigurd was shaken back to his senses as Theresa grabbed his shoulders and shook him. He then realized that the teacup he had been holding had been crushed into powder between his fingers, while the red tea had spilled across his black military uniform, leaving a conspicuous dark stain.

Sigurd brushed the powdered remains of the teacup off his fingertips. With a frozen expression, he asked blankly:

"If it's a boy… what do you think about the name Sigvard?"

"..."

Silence filled the observation deck.

After a long moment of quiet, Sigurd rubbed his temples and let out a long breath. His cooled-down mind finally began functioning again.

Sigurd himself was a MANTIS, carrying multiple high-level Honkai beast genes. He had also undergone various modifications by Mobius, and the number of changes he had made to himself was countless. From a biological standpoint, he was already far beyond the category of a normal human.

Kiana was an artificial Kaslana, a dual-core Herrscher, and had a history of accommodating multiple Herrscher authorities. Naturally, she too was a lifeform difficult to define.

As for whether the two of them could conceive offspring through ordinary biological reproduction, Sigurd had not yet fully researched that question.

The main reason was that he wasn't sure whether he should let Kiana become pregnant as soon as possible.

If Kiana became pregnant, he would have sufficient reason to keep her in a heavily guarded place, far away from the battlefield against Finality.

But within the Honkai system, the status of Herrschers was extremely special. Sigurd could not guarantee that Kiana would be able to completely withdraw from the conflict.

If Kiana became pregnant, her strength weakened, and she gained a fatal vulnerability, yet still couldn't escape the war…

Sigurd could not bear such a consequence.

Because of this dilemma, his research into having children had been somewhat delayed. He lacked the motivation to devote time to thoroughly studying it.

In short, whether Kiana could become pregnant with Sigurd's child was still a Schrödinger's cat situation—until it happened, even Sigurd himself couldn't say for sure.

So yes, Kiana becoming pregnant was possible.

Sigurd slowly raised his head mechanically and said to Theresa:

"What… did you just say? Say it again."

"I said Kiana might be pregnant!"

Boom!!!

The essence of pregnancy is… from a physical perspective, the world can be divided into seventeen dimensions… the standard opening procedure for creating a bubble universe is… wait! This is not the time to think about the universe!

Kiana is pregnant!?

After the second explosion of rational thought, Sigurd barely managed to adapt. He quickly regained his composure and asked:

"How did you figure that out? Did she tell you? No—that's impossible. If she were going to tell anyone first, it would definitely be me."

Sigurd frowned deeply, then shook his head and answered his own question.

Theresa twitched her lips helplessly at Sigurd's firm conviction, but she had to admit that it was true.

If something happened, Kiana would unquestionably go to Sigurd first.

"Sigh… She didn't tell us directly. It's just our guess. I think she might not be certain yet, so she wants to wait before telling you so you don't get your hopes up for nothing."

"How did you guess? Tell me every detail… actually, never mind. I'll just check the recordings."

A small holographic projection appeared in Sigurd's hand, rapidly playing footage of Kiana's interactions with Theresa and Siegfried over the past two days.

After quickly reviewing it, Sigurd frowned and said:

"Pregnancy symptoms?"

"Right! Fatigue and drowsiness, craving sour food, and that mixture of complaining yet secretly delighted behavior—it's exactly the same as Cecilia back then. And combined with those mysterious things she said earlier, I'd say the possibility isn't small."

Theresa straightened up with both hands on the table and spoke with a serious expression.

"This…"

Sigurd opened his mouth but found himself momentarily speechless.

Fatigue and sleepiness could simply be from enduring too much sex every night—her body and mind unable to handle it. Wanting sour food might just mean she had eaten too much meat and was tired of it. As for those mysterious remarks, they probably referred to the matter of Durandal's background…

Although Sigurd could find a reasonable explanation for every point, from a strictly scientific perspective, when it came to pregnancy, Theresa and Siegfried clearly had experience and authority that he lacked.

Sigurd rested his hand on his chin, striking the pose of The Thinker, and remained silent for a long time before finally standing up.

Theresa quickly stood as well.

"What are you planning to do, Sigurd?"

"First I'll confirm it. Then we'll talk about anything else."

With that, Sigurd walked toward the stairs, clearly deep in thought.

In truth, Sigurd monitored Kiana's physical data every day to ensure her health. From the data of the past few days, her body looked perfectly normal, with no unusual changes. Therefore, he believed it was more likely that Theresa and the others had misunderstood.

But the life form of a Herrscher was fundamentally different from ordinary humans. Any pregnancy response might not necessarily appear in normal physical data.

After Theresa had dropped such a mental bomb on him, Sigurd himself felt somewhat confused. He would need to conduct a thorough examination before drawing any conclusions.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Crack! Bang!

"Hahaha! Is dodging all you can do? Didn't you say you've gotten stronger? Show me that confidence of yours, Kiana!"

The training ground now wasn't just built with special materials, it also used rudimentary spatial-folding technology, resembling a vast mountainous region beneath a blue sky.

Senti stood atop a tall peak, her distinctive Herrscher of Sentience outfit fluttering in the wind. The silver-white chain blade in her hand swung far faster than the wind itself, continuously slicing through surrounding mountain peaks as she laughed wildly.

Clearly, she had gotten completely fired up.

Rumble!!!

One mountain after another was smashed apart or cut open. Massive rocks crashed to the ground with heavy booms, displaying the terrifying destructive power of each of Senti's attacks.

As the opposing fighter, Kiana—dressed in white clothes and white armor—moved rapidly across the overlapping mountain ranges. Red sparks followed her movements like shadows, like countless fireflies dancing through the air.

Bang!

Defense always fails eventually—and so does dodging. No matter how agile Kiana was, she couldn't outpace the furious speed of Senti's chain strikes. Near a rocky outcrop, her shoulder was struck hard by the blade.

She lost her balance and was hurled toward the ground by the immense force transmitted through the chain, crashing down and shattering a hundred-meter-tall mountain.

Boom!!!

"Hahahaha! You fell! You fell! But I'm not finished yet! Take this, Kiana!"

The flying "firefly" had finally been caught.

Senti laughed wildly and raised her fist. Spears, greatswords, curved blades, hammers, and all sorts of weapons—both common and unusual—wrapped in black chains appeared and hung in the air above the spot where Kiana had fallen.

Then Senti flashed a bright, healthy smile and snapped her fingers.

Snap!

Whoosh!!

Like arrows leaving a bow, like bullets leaving a barrel, the dense swarm of weapons shot down into the crater of broken rock.

Senti's smile suddenly froze.

"What? Where did she go?"

"Senti, you seem to have forgotten—I'm also half a Herrscher of the Void! I've already adapted to your rhythm. So now it's my turn! Hahaha!"

Hearing Kiana's triumphant laughter, Senti looked up toward the sky. Beneath the white clouds she saw Kiana spreading golden and crimson wings.

Only then did she realize that she had unknowingly been surrounded by countless glowing sparks.

"These sparks… they're not leftover power from the Herrscher of Flames. They're traps?"

Senti instantly understood. She quickly retreated while thrusting both hands into the massive weapon case on her back, pulling out two enormous jet-black tower shields and raising them to protect herself as much as possible.

Boom!!!

Countless sparks suddenly expanded and exploded all at once. Shockwaves and blazing heat erupted in chain reactions from every direction, sending the shield-protected Senti flying wildly with nowhere to escape.
