Xue Xing got out of the car to find himself in an extremely unfamiliar place.
Moonlight filtered through sparse clouds, shining down on the grounds. In the villa district, lights from the windows flickered with a soft glow, complementing the stars in the sky. The occasional chirp of an insect broke the silence, only to be scattered by the night breeze. The trees in the gardens swayed in the wind, as if narrating ancient tales.
The scene reminded Xue Xing of his childhood days in the countryside, bathed in moonlight, and it made him feel less anxious and confined.
I should call Sister Si Wen. If that doesn't work, I'll have to go find my brother.
Xue Xing took out his phone, only then realizing he had forgotten to turn off airplane mode.
No wonder Sister Si Wen hasn't tried to find me.
As soon as he toggled it off, his phone immediately buzzed with a series of notifications, including a WeChat message from his mom.
"Xue Xing, have you arrived?"
