Chapter 79 - I got eyes

"I got eyes, you dumbass!!" yelled Vex.

But this was her fifth time she missed the target, and she never misses. She stood in a long grass plain with floating blocks all around. Targets shaped like people stood on those blocks.

"Damn, it was just a joke. I didn't think it was that deep," replied Dante.

"Well, what's going on?" asked Marco.

"Well, she gets really mad when you tell her she has bad aim," said Monti boo boo. Two gunshots rang out, landing on their mark. Headshots on two floating targets.

"No, I thought we were training me. It's only been a few days," said Marco.

A screen full of questions sat in front of him. Small traces of energy slowly dripped out of him. With each squat, a question popped up with four answers, each with a color (red, yellow, blue, red) and a shape.

"166 feet away and 44 feet high, 9.2 score. Yeah, I mean that's the goal, but because you're so good at your abilities, you'll need to learn some basics to control your Parrondo's Paradox."

Parrondo's Paradox: It is a principle in game theory and probability which states that combining two distinct losing strategies or games can actually result in a winning outcome.

"What now, then? Cause my father is still looking for me," said Marco.

"Well, no worries, kid. How you progressing? It shouldn't take too long," said Dante.

"Well, how many more questions do we need? We've been doing this all day," said Marco.

"Well, till I'm bored, no lie. But brb, got to check on the other boys," said Dante. And in a blink, wind blew as he raced through each door.

As he passed through each different door, he stepped into the kitchen, grabbing a peanut butter. Then a joint from his room, as he didn't stop for a few seconds.

"Yeah, I don't know how to do it," said Kínitos as the energy fell off the baseball.

"Like imagine it as filling up a bucket!!!" said Jes.

"Yeah, that doesn't help, Jes," said Kínitos.

"Well, Monti and Sarah are killing it, so are you," said Jes.

Sarah had ten baseballs coated in black and purple, with energy attached like super glue. It poured into the baseball and attached to it.

"Yeah, she's unreal," said Monti.

"Crazy how she's dusting you both," said Dante. A voice spoke before the aftermath of his presence ever did. Wind blew papers around the study armor room. Monti, with his skin all purple, began to run around the room with haste.

"So Monti's good at buffing himself, Sarah's good at putting energy in stuff. How about you, Ken?" said Dante.

"Well, I'm trying to figure that out myself, but—" said Kínitos as he struggled to even put a small amount of black ink on the baseball. He groaned and huffed. Veins came across his face.

"Don't pull a muscle, man. That's how you get a hernia," said Dante.

"Yeah, Kínitos, be careful. You might get an aneurysm," said Monti, still sprinting now at full speed.

"Careful, you might get a heart attack," said Kínitos under his breath as he still panted. His breath trailed off the tracks as he fell down to his knees. Sweat poured down his face. The words nearly didn't spill out.

"Oh my god, I don't think I care anymore," said Kínitos.

"You've been doing it only for two days now. You're too quick to quit," said Dante.

"You said you used your paradox ability a lot at the Stack, so you should be able to do this," said Jes.

"Yeah, it was kinda just happening," replied Kínitos.

"Who knows? He might not need to learn how to coat," said Dante.

"Well, he should. Everyone should, but it will come with time," said Jes.

"You can't even be hurt, so you don't even need coating," said Dante.

"Did you come here for a purpose?" Jes asked, just a little irritated now.

"Oh yeah, Jade has a quest for you. There's some beast of the coast, some coast. People have already made sightings of it, so we need to handle that quickly," said Dante.

"An abnormal?? Out at sea??" said a confused Jes.

"Yeah, right, it's weird, ain't it? Might be why they're called abnormals. But yeah, you're the best for that job, Miss Four-Star," said Dante.

"Hmm, I guess so," said Jes, looking back at everyone. "Okay, lesson over for today. I want you all to continue practicing. You too, Kínitos," said Jes. As a metal door appeared behind her, she left.

"Second, good news: you guys have a job to do," said Dante, happy ear to ear.

"What could that be?" asked Monti.

"Well, my dear Monti, we're gonna check out a small little lead that Mr. Marco told us about. And it will only be Kínitos and Sarah. You've got more training to do—those crocodiles are still dangerous," said Dante.
