Vergil remained looking at Niddrog for a few seconds after Yggdrasil's last remark.
The teenage dragon was still standing far too close to one of the golden leaves, staring at it with suspicious intensity as if calculating whether she could take a bite before the owner of the tree noticed.
Yggdrasil did not even turn her head. She merely moved two fingers, making the leaf drift away on its own.
Niddrog followed it with her eyes, clearly disappointed, and Vergil finally concluded that there were worse things than accepting the creature's temporary company.
At least she could take him directly to the Inverted World of Exile, understood interdimensional structures better than any ordinary guide, and despite everything the legends said, she had protected his Valkyries when she had no obligation to do so.
"Fine," Vergil said. "I'll take her."
Niddrog immediately raised her head.
Yggdrasil looked almost relieved.
"Good."
"But you're sending us to Frey."
"That too."
