Around him, people were beginning to stir. Guards groaned as they struggled to sit up, while tourists rubbed their heads and tried to understand what had happened. Bodies were scattered across the cobblestones, making the square look like the aftermath of a battle.
"Fei'er?"
His voice came out hoarse. He pushed himself upright too quickly, and the sudden movement sent the world spinning. His stomach lurched, but he forced himself to look around.

"Here," she answered weakly.
She was curled up beside him, one hand pressed against her forehead. Her face was pale, and even speaking seemed to require an effort.
"What... what happened?" she murmured. "Did someone hit me with a truck?"
"Some kind of drug," one of the guards said, struggling to his feet. He swayed before managing to steady himself. "It must have been in the smoke. An airborne hallucinogen, most likely."
"Moon Herb," another voice added.
