Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Fun

Fun

"HE IS COMING," he answered before Zenon threw his eyes to the slender figure with silver hair. "From now on, he is also coming to the company and not to leave my sight." His words sounds final, and irrevocable.

What? Do I have no say in this decision? "What if I don't want to? I'm quite busy too, you know."

The Alpha crossed his arms, stared at him with narrowed eyes. "With what?"

Amir, who was on his lap, looked up to him. His pink cheeks bubbled as he let out a cute giggle. Kael instantly melted and snuggled the kid. "You see this adorable little bubble? I'm not leaving him alone, thus I'm busy."

WELL, THAT DIDN'T WORK because the next day he was dragged from his bed by Laian, got dressed and dragged by the guards to the car, and now he's sitting side by side with the Alpha on the backseat. Doesn't this seem familiar? The only difference is that Kael doesn't feel like speaking to him at all.

What is he gonna do there anyway? He has no interest in business matters, or running some company. What he is interested in running are engines, car engines. If it weren't for this Alpha's persistent behavior, he would be planning with Javier and the others by now.

Kael leaned his head by the car's window, watching the scenery move while totally ignoring Zenon who was making phone calls at the moment. What is he thinking about bringing him to the company? Does he really not care about the fact that he gets attacked often when he sets foot outside?

Zenon worked as usual, trying to brush off the presence of the Omega that was sprawled boredly on the sofa inside his office. He would get funny glares from Kael from time to time but he remained silent. However, his frequent shuffling and sighing was starting to distract him.

So he paused from signing a document, put his pen down loud enough to get the Omega's attention who was currently lying upside down, his back curved on the sofa back while his head on the sofa seat. Startled, Kael pouted as he moved his eyes towards the direction where the Alpha's table was. Is he finally kicking me out?

"What do you think you're doing?" Zenon asked as his back rested on his swivel chair, his eyes judging as if he were the stupidest creature he had ever seen.

Kael snobbed him and continued what he was doing. He's bored to death as he is, can't he do whatever trip he wants to entertain himself? How annoying.

Seeing that the Omega had no plan in answering him, Zenon picked his pen once more and continued with his work. Even when the Omega stood up, Zenon didn't bother to look but he stayed alert in case Kael would go out. There are guards outside but who knows what's up in this slender man's sleeve.

But instead of going to the door, Kael went to check the books on the shelf to look for something to kill his boredom. He pulled a book with a blue cover, clicked his tongue in disappointment seeing it's a business-related book, put it back and pulled another, then pulled another, and another, and another. It took him ten books to conclude how boring this bookshelf is.

Kael let out a loud sigh. "I know you're such a boring and workaholic person, but really?" He asked while his hand was motioned to the shelf full of business-related books. "There isn't even anything interesting in this."

Boring. Zenon's forehead creased from the word. It was the first time someone had called him that. Personally, he would call himself reserved. "What is it now?"

Ugh, obviously. Kael walked back to the sofa and threw himself. "Can I leave? I think I'm gonna die of boredom or worse, going crazy."

He needs to sort out his priorities.

Zenon was about to answer him when a series of knocks was heard, the door swung open and a black haired woman entered. Xia entered with her head low. "I apologize for disturbing you, sir. Meeting with the D&T Corp will be in 10 minutes. Mr. William and his team had already arrived at the conference room."

Kael's spirits lifted at what he heard. Does that mean the Alpha would leave him alone? Yes! The Omega was already celebrating in his mind when his eyes met the Alpha's. Uh oh!

As if he had read what the Omega was thinking, he rose up from his seat and walked away from his table.. "Thank you, Xia一"

"I'm not going." Kael immediately cut him off before the Alpha could even suggest the idea. He widened his eyes at him in clear defiance. "I am not going anywhere and you can't make me!" He made sure to say those words with much intensity as to how he was opposed to the idea. On top of that, he threw himself again on his stomach and gripped the sofa he was on.

He just wants to be left alone. Please. Can't a grown man spend his time by himself?

"You really are a stubborn one." Zenon muttered, loud enough for Kael to hear.

Kael thought that Zenon had given up the idea.

His breath hitched and his eyes widened when a strong arm easily scooped his small figure by his stomach and threw him on the Alpha's hard and musclely manly shoulders as if he were a sack of rice. It took some seconds for Kael to register how strong this Alpha is compared to him.

As soon as the act successfully registered, Kael wiggled and kicked, trying his best to get off from the Alpha's shoulder. Even after they left the office, he saw how the Alpha dismissed Eric into helping and proceeded to saunter his way towards the conference room.

Everyone they passed by looked at the commotion with jaw dropping. How could they not? The boss, who valued his personal space, was now carrying someone on his shoulder. And isn't that... Kaisen Ashworth? The very same Omega that the Alpha hated was now squirming on the Alpha's shoulder while he was being carried away.

"This is kidnapping. I have a lot of witnesses to this mistreatment."

Kael heard the Alpha scoffed. "And? They're my employees."

"Fine, then I'll tell sirdad that you're bullying me."

"Stop squirming or I'll drop you. Isn't it time for you to make an appearance as one of the Acosta? Now be a good boy and behave."

Kael was baffled. He was just smaller than him and it's because Kael was an Omega and he's an Alpha but he just turned 28 for pete's sake. How dare he treat me like a child! You'll get what's coming. Just wait.

When they reached the conference room, the assistant entered first to announce their arrival. Only then did he set him down, keeping an arm around his waist in case he tried to run away. They ended up looking like a sweet married couple in the eyes of the watching employees.

It felt as if a jolt of electricity passed from the Alpha's hand resting on his waist and coursed through his entire body, leaving him momentarily speechless. When he recovered, he was about to remove it, but stopped when Mr. William greeted them.

"Mr. Acosta, Mr. Ashworth, it's nice to see the two of you together," the man greeted with a sheepish laugh, reaching out for a hand shake. Zenon, as rude as he is, didn't accept the hand that was extended so Kael accepted it in panic instead.

Really, how did he manage to last long when he doesn't have basic manners in greeting people.

Mr. William shook their hands. The Alpha pulled Kael once more, cutting their handshake short. "Guess you can't trust rumors these days." He was talking about the rumor about the bad relationship between Zenon and Kael. Witnessing the possessiveness of the Alpha toward his Omega personally, no doubt those rumors were false.

Kael followed the man's eyes and realized that he was looking at Zenon's hand, which was on his waist. Flushed with embarrassment, he stepped aside to shrug the Alpha's hand off his waist.

Kael's expression soured when that familiar young man approached. He is already grinning from ear to ear. "We met again." He extended his hand like his father did, expecting the Omega to shake hands with him, while completely ignoring the piercing gaze from the Alpha.

Well, it's common courtesy to shake hands with people in the business world, Kael thought. But before Kael could even move his hand, Zenon threw him a glance as if telling him 'take his hand now and I'll cut your arms later'. The Omega smirked in his mind.

He was feeling a bit stubborn right now. Kael flashed his sweetest smile and ignored the Alpha before facing Liam who was still waiting for Kael's hand. "It's good to see you again... Liam."

For a split second, the air in the room stalled.

The rest of D&T Corps team who were standing at the back exchanged quick glances, their brows lifting in silent question. Liam? Not Mr. William's son. Not Mr. Liam. Just Liam.

Liam blinked once, then a slow smile tugged at the corner of his lips. He wasn't expecting this at all since they met on a wrong foot and the Omega didn't hide his distaste at the time. When Kael finally took his hand for a handshake, Liam couldn't hide the amusement in his eyes.

"Well," he chuckled softly, "someone remembers my name."

The Alpha remained relaxed as his gaze lingered at the clasped hands, but the temperature around him dipped several degrees. Noticing the Alpha's subtle but sharp pheromones lingering in the air, Kael felt very pleased with himself. Since Alphas are known to be obsessed with the thought of being in control with everything, he was sure that Zenon was pissed off right now.

However for Zenon, that wasn't entirely the reason.

Acting as if he felt nothing at all, Kael let go of Liam's hand before glancing Zenon a challenging look. That's what you get for bringing me here. If you think you can control me just because you're an Alpha, well you're wrong.

"Why don't we take a seat now that everyone is here?" Mr. William was the one who had enough courage to break the heavy atmosphere that started to enveloped the whole room.

Kael pretends as if he were listening the whole duration of the meeting, he would nod, smile, and agree or disagree if he were asked by Liam. like they were close enough for him to strike a conversation during the meeting.

But the truth is the Omega has been feeling uncomfortable ever since the meeting started. His hands can't stop fidgeting the clear beads of his bracelet on his left wrist, lick his lips to prevent it from drying while also swallowing the lump on his throat, and trying to ease his pounding heart by inhaling and exhaling carefully.

It was all because someone refused to take their eyes off him. He could feel the Alpha's piercing gaze in the back of his head and even if they would accidentally meet eyes, Zenon would shamelessly keep on eying him like a wolf hunting his prey.

Kael went on full alert when everyone stood from their seats. He didn't even notice that the meeting had ended.

"It's a pleasure working with you, Mr. Acosta. My son, Liam, will be keeping you updated with how things go from here."

It's like they are acquainted with Zenon's silence, they left the conference room with their entire team. He even noticed Liam smiling at him before he finally walked out. Even the Alpha's assistant exits the room.

Now that only the two of them were left, the room was filled with a loud silence. Kael was about to push himself up from his seat when the Alpha spoke.

"Was it fun to talk to this... Liam?" His words were stone cold and Kael could even feel the bitterness when he said the name.

Still feeling stubborn despite how he actually felt, he faced Zenon with a forced smile on his lips. "Well, yes. Ten out of ten." He was looking at his face when he said this, as such how the Alpha's expression went dark didn't escape Kael's eyes.

"Then, why don't you run to him and ask him to marry you?"

That made him think. Not what he said but what Zenon looks like right at the moment. "If I wasn't married or I won't have a debt of billions, I will consider the idea."

"Out."

Kael didn't even have to be told twice and he was jumping outside the conference room. Mission accomplished. So that's what it takes for you to send me away. I'll keep that in mind.
