Chapter 705, Selling a Satellite

Wu Heng didn't say much. When it came to wagers, it was a private agreement—if you lost, you lost.

He then asked, "Was the letter delivered to the Guild?"

"It was. When I arrived, they took it straight away and sent it to headquarters," Philipa said.

"Did the Elder say anything?"

"Yes. He praised my decisiveness in battle and awareness today. Said he'd include it in his report," Philipa said proudly.

"Yeah, you did great today."

"But you're not praising me."

"What's there to praise? You're naturally talented. Do you need anyone else's recognition?" Wu Heng said seriously.

Philipa froze. "Damn, you really know how to talk."

Not long after, Brittany came downstairs and said the bath was ready.

Philipa went upstairs, and the maid and princess finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Wu Heng followed upstairs. "She'll only be excited for two days. Once the novelty wears off, she'll forget all about this."

Brittany said, "We did lose. And we almost affected your judgment. We admit that."

"Rest early. Don't think too much."

"Thank you, Lord Wu Heng," Brittany bowed slightly.

Wu Heng returned to the room he had picked, while the princess and her maid went to their own floor.

Night fell, and they began resting.

...…

The next morning.

He assigned skeleton servants to the Fifth Princess, who officially began taking control of the city.

Wu Heng headed to the Guild and listened to Elder Tapani's morning meeting.

The main topics were opening the port and arranging more detailed city defense and patrols.

"Alright, everyone proceed as ordered. No acting alone—don't give cult members a chance."

"Yes!" the group responded and turned to leave.

Wu Heng also stood up and started to walk out.

Just as he reached the door, Tapani called out, "Wu Heng, wait a moment."

"Elder, any instructions?" Wu Heng turned to look.

Tapani asked, "Everything okay with the Fifth Princess?"

"No issues. She's already started handling city affairs this morning. But she'll still need our help on the defense side," Wu Heng replied.

"Alright. Let's see how headquarters responds to the news."

"Understood!"

Tapani added, "Write to Gold-Silver Island. Ask them to send food and supplies. We'll be staying here a while. The Guild will reimburse you."

"Got it. I'll arrange that once I get back."

Tapani nodded.

Seeing there was nothing more, Wu Heng left the meeting room.

Everyone at the Guild had their duties.

He seemed to have it relatively easy—no assignments besides writing the letter.

After thinking at the door for a bit, he headed toward the commercial district.

...…

Armor shop.

Wu Heng saw the closed door and knocked hard.

After a moment, a small crack opened, and eyes peeked through.

Then the door opened, and an elderly woman respectfully said, "Sir from the Guild."

"Where's your boss?"

"Please come inside. I'll call her," the woman said and led Wu Heng into the shop.

After waiting in the main hall, the shopkeeper appeared.

Compared to last time, she had returned to her normal look—no oil stains, no ugly disguise.

"Sir, are you leaving?" the shopkeeper asked directly.

Last time, Wu Heng had promised to bring her people to Gold-Silver Island when he left.

"I came to talk to you about that."

"Please go on."

Wu Heng glanced at her. "You should know about the recent changes. The Elder ordered us to stay longer, so we won't return to Gold-Silver Island for now."

The shopkeeper frowned and asked, "Some who returned said the city lord is dead. Is that true?"

"It's true. The Guild's public notice will be posted soon. The city is now under the Fifth Princess's control," Wu Heng explained.

She didn't seem to care who took over.

Instead, she asked, "Is the city still dangerous?"

"Doesn't seem so. If anything happens, I'll get you out," Wu Heng said.

The shopkeeper immediately thanked him. "Thank you, sir."

"I just wanted to let you know—don't worry too much."

"Alright."

Wu Heng stood and left. The shopkeeper saw him to the door and shut it.

...…

On the way back through the commercial street,

Guild members were already posting notices on doors.

The city lord was dead. The Fifth Princess was now in charge, with Guild assistance.

The rest encouraged order restoration. People could seek help from patrol squads or go to the Guild.

"Uncle, that bard shop over there—want to see if they've got any skill books?"

Xiaoxiao's voice came from his side.

Wu Heng looked up. Across the street was a store selling bard gear.

"Looks closed. Let's ask anyway." Wu Heng walked over and knocked.

Soon, the door cracked open and someone looked out.

"What do you want?"

"Looking for bard skill books."

"Say the name. I'll check if we have it," the person said.

Wu Heng didn't know what bard skills there were.

So he said, "I'll take all tier-2 and below."

"Alright, wait." The crack shut.

After a while, it opened again. "Four books total. That'll be 170 silver."

Wu Heng paid, and the books were handed through the crack.

The whole deal felt shady—like buying contraband.

He collected them. The four books appeared:

[Message Spell][Heroic Spirit][Loud Voice][Silver Tongue].

Message Spell could transmit information to a target within a certain range.

The other three were all buffs.

Heroic Spirit increased courage. Loud Voice expanded vocal range. Silver Tongue improved speech skills.

These were all common bard skills.

"Got any gear? Something for beginners," Wu Heng asked.

The person paused mid-door-close. "Wait."

They returned with a ring. "230 silver."

[Universal Language Ring]

(Description: A ring etched with special effects. It makes the wearer's speech and voice more persuasive and can substitute for Deception or Disguise in performances.)

Another speech-boosting ring—nothing too special.

Maybe bards liked flashy gear. This ring was at least stylish.

More ornate than what other Professionals wore.

"I'll take it," Wu Heng paid. The door shut immediately.

Wu Heng didn't say more and headed back.

"You bought a lot this time," Xiaoxiao said, invisible and hanging off his shoulder.

"You translating these later?" Wu Heng asked.

"Didn't we already get a skeleton translator!"

"Don't you want to practice writing? You can't always use pinyin."

"You expect me to take a college exam or something?"

They walked back to the city lord's mansion.

The Fifth Princess hadn't returned yet. Only skeleton guards were stationed inside and out.

Wu Heng did a bit of tidying up, opened the gateway in the study, and stepped in.

...…

Zombie World.

Exiting the portal, he walked to the window as usual and looked outside.

Wu Heng picked up the radio. "Qi Hancai, you there?"

Soon, her voice came through. "Here. Today's our appointment with the Korean Broadcasting Station. I was just about to leave with the convoy."

"Where's the meeting point?" Wu Heng asked.

"A skyscraper in the city center," Qi Hancai answered.

"Hold up—I'm coming too," Wu Heng said, changed his leather armor for a bulletproof vest, and went downstairs.

The convoy was already waiting.

Wu Heng opened the door and got in the front passenger seat. "Let's go."

Qi Hancai gave the order, "Move out."

The convoy started and left the base.

...…

Inside a skyscraper.

Qi Hancai sat in a chair while Wu Heng stood nearby as her bodyguard.

Soon, three figures walked in.

Leading was a Westerner, followed by two men with Asian faces—likely Koreans.

The Westerner smiled and spoke quickly.

The interpreter beside him said, "Leader Qi, we meet again."

Qi Hancai smiled too. "Indeed, Mr. David. Since you invited us so confidently, what have you prepared for exchange this time?"

The interpreter translated into English.

David smiled confidently and replied, "Of course. We heard you were interested in satellites last time. We've decided to sell you one. We'll have to discuss the price."

Qi Hancai raised an eyebrow.

Wu Heng was also surprised.

Damn. They're actually selling a satellite.
