Chapter 750 - Chapter 750, Abilities Are Ours Too

Chapter 750, Abilities Are Ours Too

She woke up halfway?

That woman got a free front-row seat!

Wu Heng suspected she wasn't even that drunk—just pretending to sleep.

But there was no good way to bring that up, especially when she may have been awake during the whole thing with Sheila Grey.

So he just said, "I don't know."

"You probably don't. You were so into it. I feel like Shiyali likes you too," Sheila muttered.

"Jealous of your own sister? Come on."

"True, she is my sister..." Sheila trailed off.

Then Minnie's voice came through, "Steward, the new movie's starting. Want to come watch?"

Sheila's voice immediately turned serious. "Wu Heng, that's all the intel from Gold-Silver Island. I'll let you know if anything new comes up."

"Alright," Wu Heng replied.

The line disconnected—she must've gone to join the movie.

What was Shiyali really thinking?

Wu Heng couldn't figure it out.

With nothing else pressing, he left the radio room.

He chatted with the ghosts for a while in the study, then returned to his bedroom to rest.

...…

The next day.

A city captured by skeletons.

A new notice was posted on the bulletin board. A bard stood on a crate, loudly reading it aloud.

"To all city residents:

Rentam City has always maintained peaceful relations with Ekow Kingdom, never once violating the border.

However, following the old king's death, the kingdom descended into chaos, frequently crossing the border to harass Rentam.

Half a month ago, they gathered tens of thousands of troops, crossed the border, and attacked Rentam City, assaulting civilians...

...… Such heinous acts ignited constant border conflict, leaving citizens in fear.

Thus, Rentam City mobilized troops to drive out the invaders.

These actions do not target local citizens or merchants. Troops will not pillage or disturb civilians.

This statement is issued to clarify the reason."

The bard finished reading loudly.

Silence fell.

Then a wave of murmurs began.

"They say Ekow Kingdom attacked first—true or not?"

"It has the Guild's stamp, so probably true."

"Wasn't that a buffer zone with the orcs? Why attack?"

"I heard that area's rich."

"Damn, whose dumb order got so many killed."

"A traitor to the kingdom!"

After the talk, everyone now understood what had really happened.

What had been declared as an undead invasion was actually a counterattack.

Turns out they were the bad guys—and incompetent ones at that.

The crowd dispersed, spreading the news quickly.

Similar notices were posted across all skeleton-occupied cities and villages.

Whether or not people believed it, the buzz was huge.

...…

Blackstone Town, Guild.

The steward's office doors burst open.

Yuli rushed in. "Aunt, new notices are up in town. I grabbed a copy."

Madam Slater, reviewing documents, looked up. "Let me see."

Yuli handed it over and sat down. "They just want Rentam because it's rich. Not worth our pity."

Compared to the outside, they knew a bit more about Rentam's situation.

After all, the Golden Cat's business was there.

Ekow Kingdom's meddling and sabotage attempts were nothing new.

But it wasn't until now, with this notice, that they realized the kingdom had deployed full military force.

Wen Mansa responded by sending her undead army to push into the kingdom.

"Ekow Kingdom idiots," Slater cursed.

She'd long been disappointed in them.

Evil cults slaughtered villages near Blackstone, and no one cared. Instead, they sent armies to attack external cities.

They didn't even succeed—just got beaten back to this sorry state.

Calling them morons would be kind.

Yuli leaned closer, grinning. "So we're in Wu Heng's territory now! I don't want to be captain anymore—ask him to make me governor. I'll bring all our people here!"

Slater rolled her eyes. "What if Ekow regroups and counterattacks? You think this is a game? Just claim it and it's yours?"

"Nah, I'm going to write Wu Heng a letter right now! I want to be governor!" Yuli cheered and bounced out.

Slater watched her go.

And sighed lightly.

...…

Zombie World, Sangbu Port Base.

The skeleton army escorted trucks slowly into the base.

Wu Heng stepped down. Qi Hancai walked over with several base personnel. "Chief."

The others bowed. "Chief."

Wu Heng nodded. "Let's go to the meeting room."

Together, they entered.

Technicians reported on recent skeleton training and base developments.

Wu Heng listened and told them to maintain the course.

Everyone saluted again and left.

Only Wu Heng and Qi Hancai remained.

"Let's talk about the Corpse King," Wu Heng said.

Qi Hancai nodded. "I brought it up again with the Korean rescue team. Since we'd be providing troops, I asked for detailed info on the Corpse King's location and marching timeline. I followed up separately and pretty much nailed down where it is."

Clever.

Seems the Korean team didn't plan to hide it either.

After all, it wouldn't be bad if the Corpse King got taken out.

"Is it far from here?"

Qi Hancai produced a map. "Roughly here."

Wu Heng glanced—it wasn't too close, but Korea wasn't that big. Wouldn't take too long.

"That's manageable."

Qi Hancai continued, "One more thing—our skeleton army has swept through nearly half of Korea. The Korean rescue team keeps bringing this up. There's bound to be friction."

"Friction? Like what?"

Qi Hancai chose her words. "They say it's their country and thank us for reclaiming land. They talk about future compensation."

Wu Heng got it. "So they think we're helping them retake land."

"Exactly. And they even said your power comes from a Korean god—that you have Korean blood—and that you should return…"

"Seriously? Now they want me too."

Wu Heng used a class, not some psychic power.

Ridiculous talk at this stage.

Qi Hancai chuckled, clearly expecting that reaction.

Wu Heng said, "Ignore the land claims. Once we clean up the rest, we'll absorb them."

Korea was small. Unlike his home country, there wasn't much ground.

Once the skeletons cleared the whole nation, the central Korean rescue force would be surrounded.

Their only option would be to join him.

That was probably why they were getting anxious.

"Got it. But let's stay polite on the surface. Some skeletons are still learning satellite tech over there," Qi Hancai said.

Wu Heng nodded. "You handle it. I'll go check the map location tomorrow. Corpse King or not, I'll clear the zombies."

"I'll come with you."

"No need. Skeletons can drive. I'll call you via radio if needed."

Qi Hancai thought a moment, then nodded. "Okay."

After chatting a while, she took him on a base tour.

Then Wu Heng returned to the dorm and contacted Hartel via the portal.

He returned to the zombie world to wait for Qi Hancai.

...…

The next day.

Skeletons escorted the truck toward the map location.

They left the highway for side roads.

The skeleton army moved on foot, so trucks couldn't go too fast.

As dusk approached—

The convoy slowed. Zombies were spotted ahead.

Wu Heng said to the skeleton driver, "You stay in the truck."

The skeleton didn't react. Wu Heng jumped out, leading the skeleton army forward.

He said to the ghosts beside him, "Scout ahead. See if the Corpse King is there."

"Okay."

"Got it, Uncle."

The three ghosts shot forward.

...…

Netalei City, Guild.

The wide conference room carried subtle tension.

On one side sat clergy in religious garb. Near the door were Fifth Princess Brittany and the wood elf Shanaila.

"Greetings, Hero Saidu. Sirs," Brittany bowed respectfully, her eyes cautious and puzzled.

As city leader, she had gone to greet them at the harbor.

She hadn't expected to be summoned alone.

After all, she wasn't part of the Guild or Church.

Before the clergy sat Hero Saidu, robed in ornate sky-blue and gold, crowned, his expression gentle. "Brittany, you've grown."

"You still shine like a star, my lord," Brittany praised softly.

He seemed pleased. He nodded, then said, "I heard about Netalei. You did well. If you're willing, I'll make you a regional bishop. Your city will be under Church protection."

His deep, magnetic voice echoed in the hall, carrying an almost magical allure.

It made refusal difficult—and stirred hearts.

Standing behind, Shanaila's expression shifted.

The Church was trying to win Brittany over. But Gold-Silver Island had handled this city's development.

If she joined the Church, ownership of the city would become controversial.

Not content with a chapel on the island—they were poaching too.

Clearly, they thought Wu Heng had no backing.

Time froze. Shanaila's heart pounded.

She wanted to speak up, but found herself unable to.

Finally, Brittany replied softly, "Thank you for your kindness, but I bear the kingdom's fate. I respect the Church and welcome you, but I can't join."

Silence fell again.

The clergy exchanged glances—none expected this girl to reject a hero's offer.

Anyone else would leap at the chance.

Saidu nodded, still kind. "You've matured. That's good for the kingdom. If you need help, seek out the Church."

"Thank you, Hero."

"You may go. Send in Tapani and the others."

Brittany and Shanaila bowed and exited the conference room.
