Chapter 623.5: Demon Lord – Kazak
Pshk!
Crack!
Crash!
The ferocious head was sliced to pieces, blood spurting like a fountain, and the shocking 376 damage instantly took its life.
The Magic Duncan Sword, trembling slightly under the boost of Matthew's 39 Intelligence, displayed terrifying and unstoppable penetrating power.
Just as the giant zombie beast walked straight into death, Matthew was happy to take advantage and grab the kill.
"Roar…!"
With a joyous roar, Yaya's terrifying wingbeats sent nearby zombies flying in all directions.
She sped towards the next zombie behemoth at lightning speed.
Zombie behemoths were extremely rare, requiring countless coincidences to be born.
Even among an army of a million zombies, there were only two or three hundred such giant beasts.
As long as these extraordinary-level titans were taken care of—
The remaining regular zombies, no matter how mutated, would never break through Bay Territory's defensive lines.
Of course, this was only the surface objective.
Matthew continuously scanned below, searching for any individuals that could threaten him or remain undetected.
With a staggering 39 Intelligence, his mind had become a supercomputer, capable of rapidly analyzing and summarizing tidal waves of data.
This exhilarating feeling of going all out led Matthew to unleash all sorts of area-damage spells nonstop.
Such perfect targets were just what he needed to practice his AoE spell proficiency.
Since something was lurking in the shadows devouring souls, Matthew decided to burn these enemies as fuel for his spellcasting, right in front of it.
Boom!
Blossom after blossom of fire flared up.
Spell after spell exploded.
Giant after giant fell.
Swathes of zombies vanished.
The entire zombie army was thrown into chaos by Matthew and Yaya.
They kept clearing out those menacing monstrosities.
From the distant sky, a flock of powerful wyverns approached.
However, they didn't come close. Guided by the wyvern riders, they poured down barrel after barrel of specially-made alchemical fuel.
The raging flames devoured the corpses of the zombie monsters, burning any zombies nearby who thought to feast into nothing but ash.
Matthew and Yaya cleared the battlefield with incredible speed. In just an hour, they'd taken down over 80 giant beasts.
If they continued like this, all the terrifying zombie behemoths would be wiped out before the zombie army even reached Bay Territory's borders.
Hidden figures in the shadows stared intently at Yaya soaring through the sky.
They knew full well—if Yaya wasn't killed or driven away, this mighty zombie horde would become a laughingstock.
But the strength Yaya displayed, especially that gleaming suit of magic armor, was formidable.
Even the Demon Lord – Kazak was tempted; all those rare magical metals could fetch more than ten legendary souls in the depths of the Abyss.
Constantly absorbing stray soul energy from around it, Demon Lord Kazak rapidly gathered his strength.
He had to recover his peak form as quickly as possible, push this body to its limit, and unleash his strongest power for a fatal strike.
Crash!
Yaya spread her claws wide, ripping a struggling giant zombie in half.
Torn blood and tissue scattered everywhere.
Torrents of flame burst from Yaya's mouth, incinerating everything before it even hit the ground.
To the cheers of the crowd, Yaya quickly charged at another zombie behemoth.
At that moment, a pillar of blood-red light shot into the sky and instantly struck Yaya.
The timing was perfect, and the location was even more precise—hitting Yaya just as she launched herself upward.
An immense, terrifying force turned into heavy shackles and a cage, tightly binding Yaya's body.
Yaya felt disconnected from the outside world, unable even to control the flapping of her wings, her whole body plummeting down.
On Yaya's back, Matthew's expression changed—he instantly recognized this terrifying and deadly beam.
Legendary Feat—Doomsday!
"Doomsday: After being cast on a target, the target cannot use any skills or items for two minutes and takes 0.5% true damage per second."
Such a fearsome Legendary Feat could only be awakened and mastered by a rare few talented legendary demon lords.
That meant the terrifying enemy hiding in the shadows was indeed a Legendary Demon Lord!
Before Matthew or Yaya could react, over a dozen scorching, terrifying flames erupted from the cracks in the earth.
A region over a thousand meters across turned into a blazing wasteland.
An enormous creature, eight or nine meters tall, took shape in the swirling flames.
Muscular, with bat-like wings, and two twisted, towering horns radiating twisted red light.
Under its backward-curving goat hooves, the blazing fire seemed to come alive, spreading toward Yaya, who had crashed into the ground.
Without hesitation, Demon Lord Kazak raised a flaming greatsword and slashed at Yaya with savage force.
Bang!
Sparks flew.
The flaming greatsword crashed heavily onto Yaya's shoulder.
The blade, wrapped in vengeful souls, bit through the true dragon armor and came into direct contact with Yaya's scales.
Kazak was about to twist the hilt and slice sideways—
But a pair of claws had already gripped his wrist tightly.
A contest of immense strength ensued, forcibly restraining Kazak's raised arm.
"Roar…!"
The burning pain made Yaya roar.
Under Kazak's incredulous stare, she slowly forced his arm upward, took a deep breath with her gaping jaws—
Kazak struggled to break free, but her strength was even greater, leaving him helpless.
Sensing the deadly danger of this dragon breath, Kazak flapped his wings without hesitation.
Bang!
The massive form became a scattered burst of flames and vanished in an instant.
The destructive dragon breath turned into a blazing sword, incinerating all the zombies in its path.
The flames at the wound gradually died down, the pain faded, and scorched, shattered flesh quickly regenerated, replaced by firm tissue and scales.
Even the true dragon armor, split by the blade, began to radiate dazzling blue light, slowly repairing the gash.
In just a short while, the true dragon armor was restored to its former glory.
This scene, in Kazak's eyes, made even the well-traveled Demon Lord widen his eyes in disbelief.
"Under my Doomsday, how is her regeneration still working?"
"Self-repairing armor? How is this possible?"
"Her power is already at Demon Lord level!!"
"She's definitely not a silver dragon—what kind of dragon is she?!"
Before Kazak could think it through, the furious Yaya launched an attack.
Even without being able to fly, Yaya powered forward on her strong limbs, charging at Kazak at top speed.
That matchless speed, paired with her hulking frame, created a sense of unstoppable suffocation and pressure.
Feeling completely out of his depth, Kazak stared at Yaya, bathed in Doomsday, a flicker of unease in his eyes.
This mighty true dragon showed no fear from being hit with Doomsday; instead, she fought like a madwoman.
"Afraid?"
"How could I possibly be afraid?"
"Kill her! Extract her soul!"
As bloodlust and a desire to slaughter surged in his heart, Kazak shook his head, abandoning all rational thought, and with a furious roar, charged Yaya.
The two enormous bodies collided with a thunderous crash.
The terrifying shockwave spread out across the ground, sending a spiral hurricane outward.
Countless shattered stones flew in all directions, the contained force shredding any zombie monsters in their path.
Staring at the Demon Lord just meters away, Matthew met its crazed gaze, his black eyes behind his goggles flickering with crackling lightning.
Crack!
Boom!
Lightning of terrifying power crashed down from the sky, instantly striking the Demon Lord wreathed in flames.
The surging chaotic power greatly weakened the falling lightning.
Only a small portion broke through the Demon Lord's defenses and slammed into Kazak's crimson skin.
The deep numbness and stabbing pain made Kazak's rampage pause for a second.
In his unwilling roar, Yaya, unleashing her full strength, won the contest of force.
Her claws pinned down Kazak's arm, flipping his entire body to the ground.
The battle-hardened Kazak, regaining his composure, simply abandoned resistance, gripping the burning greatsword and thrusting it at Yaya's chest.
Going all out?
Demons never fear a desperate fight!
Turns out, Yaya thought the same!
She let the flaming sword stab straight into her chest and, baring her mouth full of dragon fangs, bit down hard on Kazak's shoulder.
Pshk!
The flaming greatsword, boosted by chaotic power, pierced the true dragon armor and stabbed into Yaya's body.
Feeling the thrill of his heart being slashed by the blade and enduring the pain in his shoulder, Kazak howled excitedly:
"Ha! You foolish reptile, you may have a big brain, but not a speck of wisdom!"
For a muscle-headed Kazak to say such words, Yaya's reckless counterattack must have been truly shocking.
But to Kazak's surprise, even with her heart pierced, Yaya seemed completely unaffected, biting down on his shoulder with all her might.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
In a frenzy, Yaya actually ripped off half of Kazak's arm, along with a huge chunk of his left chest.
"Aaah…!"
Kazak screamed in pain, watching Yaya, with the burning sword in her chest, furiously beating his wings to escape.
Suddenly, another bolt of lightning struck from the sky, hitting his twisted head.
Bang!
Kazak's head reeled, and with a great shake, he forced himself through the paralysis and dizziness.
He noticed Yaya's strength was waning, and, mustering his last hand, grasped for a distant mass of zombies.
Devour!
Raging chaotic power instantly drained their life force and souls.
Kazak's torn chest began healing at a rate visible to the naked eye.
As he prepared to break free of Yaya's grip, a deadly, cold-glinting longsword whistled down and pierced Kazak's brow.
Ding!
The violent clash of metal snapped Kazak's head back.
His once-clear consciousness grew hazy again.
Through his blurred vision, he saw a figure shrouded in lightning—Matthew!
The trembling longsword bent slightly left; Matthew twisted the hilt, widening the gash in Kazak's brow.
Surging sword energy instantly poured into Kazak's mind.
"-125!"
A crimson "-125" floated above his head.
Kazak, gravely wounded, was engulfed in flames once again.
Matthew sensed the spatial ripples of Kazak trying to flee and a cold, sharp light flashed in his eyes:
"Teleport? Not a chance!"
A shadow of obscure light flashed in Matthew's eyes.
Behind him, Yaya pulled out the flaming greatsword, her eyes snapping open, black rings in her pupils suddenly glowing.
Time Reversal!
The Kazak who had vanished into flames was dragged back to his original position by the force of twisted time.
Horrified, he discovered the surging power of time was binding him as surely as Doomsday had bound Yaya—now it was his prison.
Unable to use equipment!
Unable to cast skills!
Unable to use Feats!
In the final glimmer of Time Reversal—
The previously spent Yaya and Matthew, before Kazak's wide eyes, returned little by little to their peak state.
With a death-dealing sword tip and a blazing greatsword, they struck together!
Bang!
The demon's head, still frozen in disbelief, tumbled heavily to the ground.
The flowing red blood radiated scorching waves like magma.
The repulsive force of the Material Plane began to dissolve Kazak's body bit by bit into nothingness.
Regulating his breath, Matthew pounced on Kazak's remains and quickly stashed them in his storage space.
Meeting Yaya's curious gaze, Matthew said with some regret:
"Too bad, this was only one of his clones."
"Otherwise, we'd have struck it rich."
"His clone even contained divine power!"
Yaya, still a bit dazed, immediately widened her bright eyes and asked eagerly:
"So, where is his true body? How strong is it?"
"Bottomless Abyss, peak demigod!"
Yaya: "..."
Frustrated and embarrassed, Yaya took out her anger on the nearby zombies.
Carefully controlling the storage space to keep its power contained, Matthew focused on tracking the soul energy absorbed by Kazak's clone.
The true culprit devouring soul power was not Kazak!
