"Flash saves the day, as always," Noah said, looking at the portal device ahead, then glanced back at the shield. He was now inside the barrier, having used his Flash ability.
When he first acquired Arcane Shift from Ezreal and Nether Step from Kassadin, he considered Flash a rather weak ability. Unlike those two, it had a cooldown and couldn't be used indefinitely. However, now that he understood its full utility, he realized he had underestimated it.
With the Tesseract within reach, everything became much simpler. The golden energy of Flash still glowed on his hands, and the closer he got to the artifact, the brighter the glow became. The blue energy surrounding the Tesseract began to gravitate towards his hands.
It was remarkable. He felt that the power of Flash and the Tesseract's energy harmonized perfectly. More precisely, it was a connection with the Space Stone. The two spatial forces, upon contact, began to merge like water and milk, creating a sense of harmony and balance.
He raised his hands and watched as the forces coalesced. The blue energy of the Space Stone and the golden energy of Flash combined, forming a potent violet-gold power.
"A new power," Noah murmured in surprise, observing the violet-gold energy flowing between his fingers. These forces, originating from two different worlds, had merged into a single entity. The spatial energy was so potent that it even began to distort the space around his hands.
The emergence of this new power was unexpected, but welcome. Now that the Space Stone was within his grasp, he would have time to study this powerful energy.
As he examined the energy in his hands, the Tesseract, hovering in the center of the portal device, suddenly reacted to the power of Flash. The golden energy from his hands began to merge with the blue spatial energy of the Tesseract, creating the same violet-gold flow as Noah's.
This energy surged into the beam of light leading to the sky and, as if leaping across space, reached the massive portal. Although this trickle of energy seemed insignificant compared to the massive flow of blue energy, its effect was colossal. As soon as it merged with the portal, the portal began to transform rapidly.
Noah sensed something amiss. Looking up, he saw the familiar violet-gold energy, the same as the one in his hands, appear within the portal.
Realizing the danger, he quickly grabbed the Tesseract and pulled it out of the device, despite the powerful pull resisting his efforts. But even this couldn't stop him—he easily extracted the artifact.
As soon as the Tesseract was removed, the beam of light connecting the portal to the device began to shrink and soon vanished. But, to his surprise, the portal didn't disappear, as it had in the movies.
Although the portal's expansion ceased, it didn't shrink. On the contrary, it remained stable in the air. Noah was bewildered by what was happening when suddenly a tiny violet spark appeared at the edge of the blue portal. This spark instantly began to spread like wildfire, flooding the entire portal with violet energy and displacing the blue. The portal increased in size almost tenfold.
"Um..." Noah looked at the Tesseract in his hands. "Well, that was unexpected."
The portal had transformed due to the powerful energy he created. Now, it was not only larger, but its stability was on a completely different level. This portal could remain open indefinitely without requiring any energy input. Now, it could be seen not only by the residents of New York, but also by people in neighboring cities.
After the portal expanded, the people below finally saw what lay beyond. A massive spaceship, hovering in space, appeared before their eyes, followed by a multitude of menacing, gigantic creatures that swiftly descended towards Earth. Panic among the citizens intensified.
However, Noah remained calm. For him, the situation wasn't catastrophic, as his A-rank mission, "Defend Earth," involved either closing the portal or destroying the enemies. He chose the second option—annihilate the Chitauri army. The enlarged portal was even beneficial to him.
"Well, let's test the Tesseract's power," he said, clutching it in his hands. He felt the immense power of the Space Stone, but he couldn't fully control it yet. The Tesseract was just a container, and the Stone itself was hidden inside, only accessible after the artifact was broken.
He planned to address the issue of breaking the Tesseract later, as he had another task at hand. The heads of dozens of massive Chitauri flying beasts were already emerging from the portal in the sky.
Looking at the portal, Noah activated the Tesseract's power, and several violet-gold portals instantly opened on the first floor of Stark Tower.
"Whoa, what are these ruins?" a voice echoed as a foot in an elegant white shoe adorned with a bow stepped through one of the portals, followed by an ankle in purple-and-black patterned stockings, continuing into a perfectly smooth and slender leg.
...
After Noah entered Stark Tower, Nick Fury and his team's Quinjets arrived in New York. Turrets emerged from beneath all three aircraft simultaneously, and a hail of gunfire tore through the flying Chitauri soldiers, clearing the way for a safe landing. The Quinjets touched down on a relatively clear area, and the team members, led by Fury, disembarked.
"What a disaster," Nick Fury commented, surveying the devastated city.
