Several disciples from the Imperial Academy turned pale with fear and hurried to escape, chased down by the Phoenix Crown Bird, every one of them like a stray dog, living in constant dread.
"Reckless fools!"
Ye Fan witnessed it all from a nearby cliff. He had no fondness for the disciples of the Imperial Academy, so he naturally did not intervene to help. Instead, he watched indifferently, adopting a wise approach to protect himself.
If those being chased were his friends, or disciples of the Immortal Academy, he would have willingly exposed himself to draw the Phoenix Crown Bird's attention, to share some of the burden for them. He had the fastest speed in the world, and didn't worry about being unable to escape.
Once the Phoenix Crown Bird had chased them far away, Ye Fan turned and left. It was no longer safe here, and he saw no need to stay and take risks.
