Morning light filtered through the enormous canopy of Greenwood Forest, scattering warm golden rays across the interconnected wooden platforms of the elven village. Dew clung to leaves and rope bridges, sparkling like tiny gems as the sun slowly climbed higher.
From above, Greenwood looked peaceful.
The ancient forest swayed gently in the wind, and the soft sounds of wildlife echoed across the valley.
But life in the village had subtly changed.
Two weeks ago, the arrival of a dragon had thrown the entire settlement into chaos and fear.

John sat at the far edge of the largest platform overlooking the forest.
His massive black body rested comfortably along reinforced beams that had been strengthened specifically to hold his weight. One wing hung loosely off the side of the platform while his tail curled lazily beneath the trees below.
His golden eyes gazed across the endless forest.
Quiet.
Peaceful.
He had not expected that.
