Chapter 299 - Serena Prince: Love of Magic - chapter 290

Author's Notes: Chapter edited and corrected by Scott Fellman.

Primrose Pov. – August 30, 2008

I got up lazily, blinking a few times to try and wake myself up before stretching my arms and moaning with pleasure. I smiled lazily as I stood up completely naked and finally got out of bed.

I paced around my room before heading to the bathroom for my morning ablutions. Once I finished, I smiled, finally fully awake. I went to the window and opened the curtains, then the window wide, not caring about my naked state. I gazed with satisfaction at the view of Pentagram City's Red Light District.

"Good morning, Prim!" I looked down to see Evelyne, another succubus, strolling through the streets of the red-light district with a wide smile. I leaned against the windowsill on the second floor of my house.

"Eve! It's so good to see you so early!" I laughed happily. Evelyn laughed.

"Of course I am up. I'd love to stay and catch up, but I still have errands to run," Evelyn said, her voice laced with pain. I smiled knowingly.

"Then please, don't let me keep you entertained," I said playfully. Eve just huffed before waving and walking away. I smiled contentedly. Finally, I moved away from the window and, without even bothering to get dressed, left my room and went downstairs. I immediately headed to the refrigerator and started taking things out to prepare breakfast.

But first, I went over to the small radio next to me and smiled contentedly as I heard Lady Serena singing. My hips began to sway as I started preparing breakfast.

Even after months, I still hadn't fully gotten used to having my own house. A home for myself.

In Lucifaad, we had our brothel, with rooms packed with people where several of us slept huddled together. It wasn't really bad, mainly because we all ended up seeking comfort and solace from each other most nights.

But here… where the entire red-light district of Pentagram City was completely safe for us, we could enjoy so many comforts that we weren't even able to imagine before.

My house was small, or rather, only compared to other houses in Pentagram City, it was 'small'. It was 5 meters wide and 7 meters long and had two floors. The ground floor had the living room, the kitchen, and a small bathroom, and the upper floor had a larger bathroom and two bedrooms, one of which was my bedroom.

Just what I needed, more than I expected to receive, and much nicer and more comfortable than I was used to. I was really happy with it; it was my home.

And all thanks to our beloved Lady Serena. She built a city for us. She built houses for us. She put up enough defenses to protect us. She gave us shelter, health, stability, protection, and so much more—all thanks to Lady Serena.

I couldn't help but smile broadly and look towards the magical portrait of Lady Serena placed on one of the walls, one of those that the lovely Jester painted by hand.

I smiled at the thought of Lady Serena as I finished preparing breakfast. Once I finished eating, I went back to my room, dressed in some tiny shorts that barely qualified as pants, and a tank top so small it barely covered my breasts, ignoring underwear.

Finally, I went to my jewelry box, took several bracelets, and placed them on my arm, wrist, thigh, and ankles, before grabbing several rings and putting them on my fingers and toes. Finally, I smiled as I picked up the only necklace.

It was a delicate, understated chain with a four-pointed star pendant, Lady Serena's symbol. I smiled as I watched the small charm rest against my cleavage. I glanced in the mirror one last time before smiling seductively at my reflection, and chuckled one final time before slipping on some sexy, yet surprisingly comfortable, heels.

I was about to leave when my phone rang. I smiled brightly as I read the message, then froze slightly. My smile vanished immediately as I read the message. Finally, I put my phone away, took a deep breath, and smiled broadly once more. I went back to the jewelry box and picked out one last ring—a ring shaped like a flower on top. I felt a warmth spread through me and smiled once more.

Finally, I left the house, and the first thing I saw was the Distracted Globe, floating in all its splendor above Pentagram City. I almost wanted to scoff at how those high-class devil idiots were wasting their money there, but that would be inappropriate. Even if they were useless pigs, they were spending money on the Distracted Globe, and that meant more profit for Lady Serena, and that was what mattered.

I smiled once more before looking down at the streets of the Red Light District. The day had just begun, and there were already people coming and going, both succubi and other devil citizens of Pentagram City. I also noticed many visitors and tourists who followed the succubi like drooling disasters, even so early in the morning.

I chuckled at that before starting to walk, bouncing happily. I quickly calculated that I had time for one last stop.

I continued walking with a huge smile through the red-light district, cheerfully greeting every succubus I passed. Finally, I reached my destination: the metal statue of Lady Serena. The sight moved me instantly.

Several succubi were milling about; some were kneeling in front of the statue, others were thanking it with religious fervor, and many were approaching to leave small metal gifts.

And I was no different. I carefully approached the statue. I found a small empty space, went over, looked at my wrist and the bracelet I was wearing, and took it off without hesitation, then carefully placed it on the enormous pile that was already starting to grow again.

Then I knelt before the statue and bowed in thanks to Lady Serena. Finally, I took a small cup placed at the edge of the fountain, approached the fountain surrounding the statue, and scooped up some water before bringing it to my lips to drink.

I closed my eyes as I felt the vital energy course through my body, a wave of pleasure washing over me as my hunger and desire were instantly satiated while I drank deep gulps of the elixir. According to Lady Serena, it was the Elixir of Life—that was its official name. We succubi called it Serena's Blood.

Matthew 26:27-28. 'Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins."'

The Bible, a book so ridiculous it had no place in the underworld, yet something practically everyone in the underworld knew by heart. The blood of Jesus didn't save us; we weren't favored.

But… we had our savior, we had Serena Prince, she gave us the elixir, so that we could drink from it, so that our existence would no longer be tied to other races, so that we could fend for ourselves, so that, for the first time since our existence, we could stand on our own two feet without clinging to another race for our survival.

And it was glorious to be free from those chains finally. To be able to choose for the first time what we truly wanted to do without having to debase ourselves and grovel before other races to earn a living.

The elixir, the water that flowed through the red-light district, kept us healthy, kept us alive, kept us free. It was a blessing from our savior; Serena's blood kept us alive and free, and all the succubi knew it and fervently worshipped Lady Serena for it.

I breathed lightly as I smiled and lowered the glass with a grin. I set it aside for other succubi to use and stood up. With a final thank you to the statue of Lady Serena, I began walking to my next destination, though I couldn't help but get lost in my thoughts.

Low-class devils and commoners were trash. Succubi were worse than trash. That's what all low-class devils, commoners, and succubi learned from childhood. It was something I, like all succubi, had learned from birth.

Just toys for the upper-class devils, a tight cunt and some pretty tits for them to play with before discarding, and if we were lucky, we got out of there alive. If not… if we were unlucky enough to attract the attention of the wrong devil, well, I guess it would be lucky if they died quickly.

And it was the same with the other supernatural races; we were merely toys to be used, not toys to be cared for, especially not with the angels. They hated us with an insane fervor, enough to kill us the moment we came into their sight.

We succubi are irresistible; our level of charm and beauty made us tempting to all races, supernatural or mundane, and angels were not immune to our beauty, as had been proven during the Great War.

The devils used us as traps for the angels, to seduce them and force them to fall. We had succeeded. A great number of angels had fallen thanks to the efforts of the succubi.

Including Azazel.

Oh, it had spread far and wide throughout the supernatural world that Azazel's downfall was due to having sex with a human woman, but like most things, it was propaganda from Heaven.

They refused to believe that the angels had been seduced by devils, by succubi, so every time it happened, they tried to kill the succubus the instant they caught her. We had done our job, just as expected, just as we had been forced to do.

And what did we gain from our effort?

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. The pillar devils simply patted each other on the back, congratulating one another for having the brilliant idea of using us, the trash, and making us 'useful'. And we just kept receiving the same contempt.

All we accomplished was making the angels hate us even more than any ordinary devil. And all we could do was accept it; it wasn't like we had any other choice. We were weak.

That was how it had always been during the time of the original Satans, and it had barely changed with the Satans' transformation after the Civil War. The current Satans did care about the devils, I would admit; they had done a great deal for the demonic race since taking charge and kept the worst of the devils allied with the ancient Satans at bay.

But that didn't mean succubi were treated differently; no, we were still the playthings of the strong. It always was, and it always will be. All the succubi knew it and had accepted it: we were the weakest, we couldn't change anything on our own, not without help.

And… to our surprise, help had arrived. In the form of a young succubus named Serena Prince. A succubus who, against all odds, had risen to become a high-class devil.

The first succubus to achieve it. And she had sold herself, sacrificed herself to the Phenex, simply to gain territory, territory to found a city, a place for all the low-class succubi and devils, so that we would be safe under their gaze.

She had done all of that so selflessly. Simply to protect us, expecting nothing in return, just that we live well, free, protected, and cared for.

Lady Serena had done more for us in a few months than the entire devil race had done for us in the entire existence of our race.

Was it strange that we fervently adored Lady Serena? Not at all.

Oh, none of us were blind; we are succubi. We can read a person like the palm of our hands. It was instinctive; it was an act of survival, a skill we had to have to avoid being killed by a being stronger than us for saying or doing something wrong.

So we knew that Lady Serena was one of the most introverted people alive. It was unusual for a succubus. Oh, she wasn't shy about her body, nor was she ashamed of her sexual desires, not even in public, if her interactions with her Peerage were a clear demonstration. Still, she hated socializing with people, hated politics, hated dealing with people, whether allies or not. She preferred to stay in her mansion doing her own thing.

Even with us succubi, she was too introverted.

And none of us were bothered by that fact in the slightest.

It wouldn't change what she had done for us; Lady Serena had practically given us the whole world, and we owed her that, even though she didn't want any form of payment or gratitude, and that only made us strive even harder.

And we succubi had to find our way. We were too weak to help her in any way that mattered, but we were good at gathering information, getting the strongest idiots to talk. A pleasant smile, a few bare breasts, and the idiots would start talking nonstop.

So it started little by little, us bringing information here and there to Lady Maria, hoping to help Lady Serena somehow. And our hopes were answered.

Lady Serena founded The Garden for us succubi, providing us with tools to facilitate our work and keep us safe from trouble, and also The Astrarium, for the other common devils who wanted to help in the same way we did.

Our two groups were like siblings, all serving under Lady Serena's banner. It was an honor to be a member of either, and we dedicated ourselves to it with all our might, even though our resources were limited.

Force, after all, was not something any of us could have desired, so our operations were unfortunately limited.

With a sigh, I continued walking until I reached the only library in the red-light district.

"Primrose!" I stopped before entering and glanced to the side. A young, low-class devil, quite ordinary, nothing remarkable about her: black hair, average figure, a pretty face, but nothing extraordinary, and round glasses. I smiled broadly as I looked at her.

"Spica!" I squealed with joy as I saw her. I jumped slightly with excitement before launching myself at her with a smile. Spica smiled broadly and returned the hug.

"Prim! It's so good to see you again!" Spica said with a slight smile as we separated, and I laughed slightly.

"Oh, it's a great pleasure, Spica." I sighed with a soft smile. "I suppose you're excited about the new release!" I said excitedly, looking at the bookshelf. Spica nodded repeatedly.

"I am! I'm so excited!" Spica squealed happily, and I smiled at her knowingly.

"Then let's go; why waste any more time?" I said to Spica, my eyes sparkling. She just laughed and started walking excitedly toward the library. Once inside, the smell of paper and ink was really strong as we walked toward the librarian.

An elderly man who looked terribly tired, with more dark circles under his eyes than eyes and glasses that were half-drooping. He was reading one of the books before looking up, and then raising an eyebrow.

"I've come to pick up the Primrose seeds I reserved," I told the man with a smile.

"Tonight is a beautiful night to watch Spica. Do you have any recommendations?" Spica asked with equal ease.

The man paused to look at us before creating a small magic circle in his hand and throwing it toward our rings—specifically where we wore them, mine with a rose, Spica's with a four-pointed star. Both rings reacted slightly before we heard the door behind the library unlock.

""Thank you."" We said at the same time, but the man was no longer ignoring us. We moved through the hallways before finding a small door hidden behind a bookcase. Spica and I entered the small room before feeling ourselves being forcefully pulled through a tube, and the sensation subsided. We both winced before leaving the room.

"Do you know what this is about, Spica?" I asked seriously as I walked through the long corridors of the Garden and Astrarium hideout. It was practically a massive building placed in the dimensional rift created by Lady Serena for our operations. Spica frowned and shook her head.

"No, Lord Altair simply summoned all the stars to come immediately," Spica said without hesitation. I frowned.

"Same here with Lady Maria calling all the flowers," I said, almost worried. We turned down the aisle and saw dozens of other confused people. My eyes widened slightly.

"The Aurors are here," I said in shock, pointing at some people. Spica's eyes widened slightly.

"Oh no, this looks bad," Spica murmured. I shuddered slightly. The Aurors were Pentagram City's police force, the only public organization in the city. Their presence here was strange, very strange.

Spica and I looked at each other before we started walking towards the Great Hall along with everyone else; neither of us seemed to really know if the confused and cautious looks were an indication.

Spica and I continued walking, waving to the flowers and stars, but as I expected, none of them really seemed to know what it was all about. We finally reached the great hall and went inside. Almost 500 people were waiting inside. My eyes widened slightly.

It really seemed like they were gathering all of us here. A pang of worry shot through me, and I bit my lip. We had to wait a few minutes before the three leaders stepped onto a small platform, where we could all see them.

Lady Maria, the director of The Garden; Lord Altair, the director of The Astrarium; and Lord Hood, leader of the Aurors. Lady Maria was a petite, short succubus with few curves, white hair, and violet eyes. She was young, very young, much too young compared to some of the centuries-old succubi within The Garden.

But after working with her, I couldn't blame her. She was intelligent and knew what she was doing.

Lord Altair was a man and a middle-class devil. He wore a heavily modified white robe-like garment with leather straps and carried a magical sword at his hip, a gift from Lady Serena. Most notably, only his mouth and jaw were visible; a hood concealed half of his face.

But nothing compares to Lord Hood, the only high-class devil here. An ancient devil reincarnated from another king, he abandoned his former king and came to serve Lady Serena in Pentagram City.

At this moment, he looked like a normal person, wearing a black Auror uniform and a hood; only his face was naturally shrouded in darkness; the only things visible were his mouth and his eyes, which glowed bright yellow.

"Ahem!" The loud voice silenced us all, and we all looked ahead. Lady Maria stepped forward. "Thank you all for coming, and with such short notice, but there was an important matter to discuss." Lady Maria said with a gentle smile, though I could see she was a little tense. Something bad had really happened. Before Lady Maria could continue speaking, a portal made of black miasma, easily recognizable, appeared beside her.

I could feel my heart pounding as Lady Serena stepped out of the portal, along with Narcissa Black, who was smiling slightly. My eyes widened, and my body jerked, as did everyone else in the room. We all dropped to one knee, bowing our heads slightly.

"Long live Lady Serena!" we all said at the same time. Our greeting echoed throughout the great hall as we waited. We couldn't see her, but we all heard Lady Serena's pained sigh. I smiled knowingly, as did most of the other succubi. Even though we knew Lady Serena would hate this, our bow was sincere.

"Just... stand up," Lady Serena sighed. We obeyed. I smiled slightly as I watched Lady Narcissa laugh amusedly at Lady Serena's distress. Finally, Lady Serena smiled.

"Thank you all for coming." Lady Serena began, her voice resonating powerfully throughout the grand hall. "First, I want to thank you all for your effort and help. Thank you." Lady Serena smiled gently, and I couldn't help but blush slightly as my chest swelled with pride. "But now, let's get to the most important thing."

"Let me introduce you to the Ultima Uniforms (Goku Uniform - Kill-la-kill)." Lady Serena said with a huge smile, and we all looked at her, confused.

Author's Notes: Well! I hope this chapter wasn't confusing. First, with the Nui Harime template in Narcissa, I was definitely going to recreate the Goku Uniforms. Still, instead of rambling on as usual for a chapter or two about their creation, I thought of presenting them this way, and also showing how Serena looks to the other succubi. So I started writing it, and this is what came out. I hope you liked it; there's still one more chapter!
