Chapter 278 - Weapon of Mass Destruction.

In her normal use of bow and arrow, Artemis had no need for a quiver or physical arrows.

She simply condensed moonlight and divine power into arrow form, and could loose a single shot capable of striking down anything on earth.

But the arrow before them now, though only a single one, contained a terrifying divine might that was almost palpable, and had a clearly physical form.

Sensed at close range, the wild instinct of his dragon blood made Night's hair stand on end, and he felt incomparable danger, his pupils instinctively contractiny slightly.

Artemis took out the arrow, and in her hand it suddenly burst forth with a dazzling silver-white brilliance.

When the brilliance faded, the crystal-like arrow had transformed into a spear like a lance of ice, radiating a beautiful and captivating radiance in the sunlight.

"This is your reward. As recognition for defeating Ares's daughter, the demigod hero, under the witness of the gods." After she finished speaking, her gaze shifted slightly to the side, even inexplicably flushing red, as though this divine spear held some special significance for her.

In the end, Artemis dropped the weapon and vanished in an instant.

And all the way back to her own temple, Artemis never realized that everything she just did had been watched through the window by an owl that observed everything as it always did, seen in its entirety.

"Artemis... actually..." The owl of Minerva, serving in reality as the symbol of the goddess Athena, was shaken after witnessing everything just now.

That was unmistakably a divine artifact formed naturally by Artemis's own divine power.

A portion of her authority and divine power was even divided and embedded within it.

Not only the moon goddess's authority.

Even the power of her original authority as the primordial hunting goddess was contained within it.

No...she gave such an important divine artifact, directly to her own follower?!

Though there was no such thing among divine beings as a personal signature weapon.

But just as in human hero epics, the gap in power between a hero equipped with a dedicated personal weapon and a hero without one was often incomparably vast.

The best example was King Arthur's sword of promised victory.

The knight king without the holy sword was at most one round table's worth of combat power.

But the knight king with the holy sword was the king who won every battle on every battlefield.

For now, call that arrow Artemis's Arrow!

If Artemis equipped that arrow and released her full divine might, she could very easily, in a single shot, cleanse the surface of the earth and reshuffle human civilization entirely.

And Artemis without that arrow could not even fully unleash her authority power.

After all, a portion of her authority was fused into that weapon.

Artemis without that weapon at her side could at most affect a continental plate with a single shot.

Still terrifying.

But it was like the gap between destroying a star and destroying a nation.

An incomparable and enormous difference that could not be discussed in the same breath.

Even when Artemis said she was going to reward Night, Athena was not shocked.

But when she saw what weapon she brought out, she was genuinely shaken.

!!

So they really are a couple?

If they were not a couple, where would you find any chief goddess this generous to her own follower?

But are you giving him a weapon of mass destruction like this?

Are you intending for him to use it to kill a god?

Athena's eyelids twitched sharply!

And at this moment on the other side, Artemis, who had already fled, actually had not thought that far ahead.

After watching Night, even wearing Achilles's full set of divine equipment, still losing to Hector, she instinctively realized that he would have to return the divine equipment to Achilles afterward, and his combat power would probably drop a great deal.

She should at least give him something that could compensate for an entire set of divine equipment, so Night would have a chance to take revenge on Hector.

At that moment, her mind was completely full of the regretful image of that shining figure's defeat in the final battle, having entirely pushed to the back of her mind the fact that Night and Hector were actually on the same side all along.

Artemis only knew that she genuinely hoped in her heart for Night to defeat Hector, the greatest hero of Troy, and even surpass Achilles and become the most brilliant and most powerful hero in all of the Greek world.

Without any other suitable divine artifact at hand, Artemis instinctively thought of her own divine arrow.

If she used this divine arrow next time, surely one shot would be enough to blow Hector's head apart?!

Just imagining that scene was enough to make her...

But after she fully sent it away, and then realized what extraordinary and special gift she had given away, the thin-skinned Artemis directly ran off.

Though she did not take her gift back either!

Since it was something already given away, there was no reason to take it back.

In the end she left behind only Night in the room, staring at that divine sacred spear refracting colorful light in the sunlight, beautiful as an ice crystal, his eyelid twitching the whole time.

He finally took a deep breath and still reached out and gripped this divine spear that was transformed from an arrow.

Thinking about the true nature of this spear, for just an instant Night's mind connected it to the arrow of Orion from the Earth in another world.

That too was transformed from a goddess's weapon, a divine spear that only the destined Orion could draw out and use, capable of saving the world.

This thing would not be a similar nature to that, would it?

After sensing the terrifying divine power hidden within, Night could not help but have this unnecessary association.

But after a test, his current strength seemed to still be unable to draw out the power within the divine spear.

This meant... he was not yet recognized by it?!

But still. It was enough.

The rank of this spear was too high and its power too great.

It was not something the current him could wield.

But even just swinging it as a combat weapon, its hardness and what appeared to be some passive attribute enhancement already made it exceptionally powerful on those points alone.

Perhaps in the future he could try using this divine artifact to simply batter someone to death.

Just imagining that scene was too beautiful, too much to look directly at.

And the most critical thing was that Night discovered the divine spear could shift into flowing moonlight and be stored within his body.

It could switch between physical and non-physical form?!

This discovery instantly sent him into a frenzy of delight.

Oh! Then could it not be taken out of the simulated universe?

No, he could not rejoice too early.

If this thing was different from a conceptual entity, or for some reason at the time of settlement could not be brought out as a reward, that joy would turn to sorrow.

After safely putting away this divine artifact that was written as a divine spear and read as Artemis's Arrow.

Night rested and tidied himself up, then left the room and began gathering information about the current point in time.

And with just a little inquiry, he very quickly heard a shocking piece of news.

The hero Palamedes. Was dead?!!!!

'What the heck? I just finished the decisive battle, slept through one night, and woke up to find that Truth Brother was already gone?'

Who made the move? Could it be Odysseus?

And after learning everything about the matter, Night's expression became even more interesting.

Reality was even more absurd than the original myth itself!!

Utterly and completely over the top. Absurdity opened the door for more absurdity. Taken all the way home!

To sum it up in one line...

Odysseus did indeed want to do away with Palamedes, but his scheming had barely reached the halfway point when someone cut in and stole the whole thing from him. He even ended up shouldering a massive blame because of it!

And why did Night know so clearly that Odysseus had been set up?

Could he say that he already knew how the original story was supposed to unfold?

Do not ask. The answer is God's-eye view. It was on. Damn. Everything was in chaos. The whole plot had completely gone off the rails!
