"Tony," the little spider's voice reached Iron Man's ears through the communication channel.
"I wonder if you want to control the Hulk first?"
"After all, he's so unstable right now."
"I'm afraid that guy will attack Hulk then."
Iron Man glanced at Banner, who was sitting in the distance, and said, "No."
"As I said earlier, the horror of that guy is the plot."
"It is generally to take advantage of the weaknesses of the human heart, such as kindness and perseverance."
"These may still be valid for a normal Dr. Banner."
"But for the transformed Hulk, do you think these things can restrain him?"
"Once Hulk transforms, no one can say for sure what he will do."
"He's not Steve—logical and reasonable. A time bomb like Hulk wouldn't be the target of that guy."
The rest of the squad was relieved to hear Iron Man's words.
After all, one Jackson Chen was enough for them, and adding a runaway Hulk to the mix would make the situation even worse.
"However, to be on the safe side, I'll let Banner stay in a room specially made by S.H.I.E.L.D."
Iron Man thought for a moment and said cautiously.
Soon, Iron Man took Banner with him.
Inside a special room of S.H.I.E.L.D.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, you know, I sometimes can't control it..."
Banner seemed very guilty. Although Banner and Hulk share the same body, their images and personalities are polar opposites.
"It's all right, Dr. Banner, it's not your fault," Iron Man comforted him. "You just need to calm down. There's less than half an hour, and you can get through today."
"Shall I let you out again when the time comes?"
"The outside world is up to us."
Banner knew that now wasn't the right time for him to continue, so he nodded in agreement.
"Be careful, Tony, this guy really is..."
Banner looked at him worriedly, thinking of the pressure Iron Man was under behind that cold mask.
Iron Man didn't say a word. Fully armed and ready for combat, he gently tapped Banner on the shoulder and walked out slowly.
He lingered at the doorway.
Then, he opened the communication channel again. "Peter, let the Quicksilver siblings come over. Logan is missing Banner on his side. In case that guy has combat power, it won't be enough."
The little spider quickly responded to Iron Man, "But what about this side?"
Iron Man replied directly, "I'll have Fury transfer all the surveillance of that mess to this area. There's no other way—we'll have to monitor both areas together."
"It just so happens that the areas you're responsible for are all connected, and there are things that should be dealt with."
Several other lines connected to convey the news of the two teams merging.
The little spider over there said, "Okay, we'll head right over."
Then the little spider closed the communication channel and turned to Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, saying, "You know there are some issues with the Hulk, and Logan might not be strong enough, so we need to move."
He glanced at the time and said, "But I think this means we're headed to dinner together, after all, the day's almost over."
"That bastard still hasn't shown up."
Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch smiled. "It would be great if you're right."
"That proves Tony is right—that guy doesn't have the strength to face us head-on. When he sees us together, he doesn't dare to make a move."
The little spider also smiled and said, "You go downstairs first. I'll head upstairs to get my bag. Tonight should be a celebration party."
With that, he headed straight upstairs.
...
...
The little spider took the elevator all the way to the top floor. Though the downstairs is said to be S.H.I.E.L.D.'s monitoring room, the entire building actually belongs to Stark Industries.
In other words, these were Iron Man's personal belongings.
Through the transparent glass of the elevator, many of Iron Man's landmarks came into view.
Upon reaching the top floor, the little spider underwent an iris scan and headed straight inside.
It was a vast hall, with mechanical suits lined up on both sides.
The little spider gazed at them in awe.
"Oh, I think I should have a cool mechanical suit too."
He shook his head and stepped further into the room.
For some reason, he felt a cold chill down his spine, as though someone was watching him.
Shivering, he quickly grabbed his bag from the couch next to him.
"This damn uncomfortable feeling just won't go away today!"
"But at least, the day is almost over," he muttered to himself before hastily leaving the hall.
What he didn't notice was the faint white glow from the arc reactor in the chest of one of the steel suits behind him. The mask of the suit flashed too—this armor had been activated!
As the door closed slowly, the reflection of the little spider's retreating figure shimmered in the glass.
Behind that mask, a face screamed in silence.
"Peter—"
"Peter!"
The man inside the armor thrashed wildly, but the entire system seemed to be completely locked, giving him no response.
He was trapped inside the suit!
His screams echoed only within the armor, while outside, there was nothing but silence.
All he could do was watch, helplessly, as the little spider walked away step by step.
Iron Man, frantic and desperate, kept calling for help. He had been unaware of the outside world for too long.
"Jarvis, Jarvis, please, answer me!"
Never in his life had he felt this level of despair and helplessness.
But there was nothing.
Only silence, except for the sound of his own voice.
A bone-chilling cold gripped Iron Man's body.
...
...
Soon, the two teams reunited.
The original monitoring room, damaged beyond use, was quickly replaced by S.H.I.E.L.D.'s backup.
"Iron Man" glanced at the little spider, Quicksilver, and the others as they entered, his handsome face beneath the mask twisting into a strange smile...
