Prince of Tennis: Ninja of Tennis
In the clearing at the heart of Moon Island, Seimei felt his mental energy surging wildly, teetering on the edge of losing control after awakening his Rinnegan. With a quick thought, he activated the Rinnegan's Mastery of Time ability.
Instantly, he felt a huge chunk of his chakra drain away. In the next moment, his condition reverted to how it was before the Rinnegan's awakening.
That's right—this ability, which he'd named Mastery of Time, was a time-based power. In his memory, only Otsutsuki Urashiki, with his blue Rinnegan, had a time-related ability. But Urashiki's version could only rewind himself or objects he touched by a few seconds to dodge unfavorable outcomes. Seimei's Mastery of Time, however, was on a whole different level.
He could target anything and rewind it to any point in time. Compared to Urashiki's limited "time rewind," Seimei's ability felt like true time manipulation. The catch? It required an enormous amount of chakra to fully unleash its potential. With his current chakra reserves, he could only rewind himself by one or two minutes at most.
But during that process, he could flexibly choose what to keep unchanged. Just now, for example, he'd reverted his state to before the Rinnegan's awakening but kept the massive boost in mental energy. This gave him enough time to rein in and control the nearly uncontrollable surge of mental power.
It was this flexibility that made him believe his ability was true time manipulation.
Clearing his mind, Seimei focused on taming the surging mental energy. But it wasn't long before he started struggling to keep it under control. Left with no choice, he activated Mastery of Time again, rewinding himself by one minute. Instantly, the pressure eased. Seizing the moment, he worked to bring the rampant mental energy back under his command.
For the next hour and a half, he repeatedly used Mastery of Time, maintaining an optimal state to wrangle his mental power. Finally, after an hour and a half, he succeeded in fully controlling it.
Only then did he turn his attention to the changes on his proficiency panel. With a thought, he opened it, and a translucent light-blue screen appeared before him:

As expected, awakening the Rinnegan had caused his Spirit stat to jump by five points, from 40 to 45. Sensing his condition, Seimei quickly noticed the strain his overpowered mental energy was putting on his body. If he didn't boost his Constitution stat soon, he'd be in trouble.
Could he use Mastery of Time to erase the strain? Sure, if he could rewind by a month or two—or even a couple of weeks—that might work. But his chakra reserves weren't there yet. Rewinding every minute or two wasn't practical either; each rewind burned through a ton of chakra, and he simply didn't have enough to spare.
The best solution was to push his body to transform again, addressing the root of the issue. Thankfully, with his Constitution hitting 40 and undergoing a qualitative change, his body's resilience had surged, cutting down the time needed for another transformation. Otherwise, he might not have been able to hold out.
Shifting his focus, Seimei glanced at the bloodline section. His Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan had officially become the Rinnegan, with no progress bar to indicate further growth. In other words, the Rinnegan was a one-and-done deal—no more evolving from here.
As for the legendary Rinne-Sharingan? That was on a completely different level. The Rinnegan, while powerful, was still a bloodline limit. The Rinne-Sharingan, however, was a bloodline network. He'd once planned to awaken the Rinnegan, combine it with the power of the Tailed Beasts to unlock the Rinne-Sharingan, and use that to jumpstart his bloodline network development. But now, with the massive mental boost from the Rinnegan, pushing for the Rinne-Sharingan would throw his mind and body out of balance. That step would have to wait.
That said, developing his bloodline network wouldn't necessarily take a full five years of grinding. For one, the Rinnegan's awakening gave him a huge mental boost, letting him summon more shadow clones to speed up the process of mastering the fusion of all seven chakra natures. Plus, the Rinnegan itself deepened his understanding of those chakra natures, which would make developing the bloodline network much easier.
True, he'd previously called this aspect of the Rinnegan "useless" since he'd already mastered all seven chakra natures. But that wasn't entirely accurate. The Rinnegan's influence refined his grasp of those natures, making his bloodline network development far more efficient.
Two years had passed since his initial estimate, and Seimei figured it'd take about two more years to complete the bloodline network—at most. That'd put him at roughly four years total, right in the middle of his original three-to-five-year estimate. No delays there.
With these thoughts in mind, Seimei glanced over the rest of the panel. Only ten days had passed since his last Constitution boost, and with one day spent resting in the village and the last three focused on awakening the Rinnegan, he hadn't had time to train. So, the rest of the panel showed minimal changes.
Calming his breathing, Seimei prepared to test the gains from this Spirit boost—specifically, the increase in his theoretical chakra cap and chakra recovery rate. With a five-point jump in Spirit, the improvements were bound to be massive. He couldn't wait to see the results.
