Chapter 33 - Nova's State (I)

His head buzzed from her words.

Even in his past life, he had not heard of that before.

Humans were humans; there was no such thing as a different species or whatever.

Yet, looking at the woman, whose pink eyes simply bubbled around, glowing with light as she continued the lesson.

It didn't seem that she was bluffing at all.

'Is she just joking?'

White muttered in quiet confusion, but then the panel flashed.

[They're indeed a different species of humans amongst you.]

'What the? For real!?'

White asked in disbelieve.

[Yes, and now that she mentions it, I finally understand.]

[I felt something weird about someone you met recently. I thought she was some half-human, half-supernatural or something, but with her explanation, I understand now. She's an entirely different species of humans.]

'I met with one. Who's that? Rukun Malevolent?'

White asked.

[No. Not him. He's an ordinary human. It will be better if you eventually figure the person out yourself. Makes it easier for you to be able to identify them naturally in the future.]

The system said to him, and White hummed.

The instructor continued with her lecture, and he listened with rapt attention.

________

7 hours later...

CREAAAK!

The sound of bone creaking echoed as White stepped out of the hall, hands on his back.

Being dragged into her mind realm left them all standing, and they stood for 7 straight hours.

When she placed them back in their bodies, he felt as if his waist was about to break from the strain.

He might be an awakener, but even then, he wasn't free from the exhaustion of standing in one place for 7 hours straight.

He felt a tinge of hunger in his stomach, but he wasn't in the mood to eat.

He was dead tired, his head throbbing from the crazy amount of information, and wanted nothing more than to snore it off.

There was no mission notification after the class, so he could guess classes were over for today.

With tired exhaustion in his steps, White dragged himself in the direction of his dorm, a distance that took him longer than usual, 35 minutes to finish.

When he got to the elevator, he was completely drained, and he almost collapsed on the ground, though a hand grabbed his shoulder before he could.

He turned his gaze up, and there he found a pair of pink eyes staring down at him.

"You?"

He said tiredly, remembering her face but not having enough energy to finish the question.

"You look like you're about to fall dead."

She claimed.

It was none other than his neighbor, the girl with the embedded pink crystal on her forehead.

"I'm fine."

White replied, yanking his shoulder out of her grasp.

She was a violent person.

When he had not told her the answer to her question in their last meeting, she had lunged for his neck.

He sensed the air around him and had unconsciously activated Limitless Interval, allowing him to block the attack, or he would have been slammed into the wall with force.

A person who thinks they're somehow entitled to attack others just because they feel like it... he wanted nothing to do with someone like that.

"Your name is White, right?"

She asked, though White didn't respond, reaching for his doorknob and swiping the card to go in.

"I got it from a girl. A girl called Nova."

BEEP!

The door made a successful sound, and White grabbed the knob.

"She was whispering that while drowning in her blood last night."

Her words made him pause for a second.

"I watched her fight with some Malevolent boy. Noticed that she used Limitless, and I recognized your defense ability to also be Limitless Interval."

"Limitless people are rare, so I could only guess it was your name she was calling."

"Did she attend class this morning?"

White asked, and her lips curved in amusement.

"And how am I supposed to know that? I just dropped her off at the hospital and left."

"You do!"

White said, his voice low, slowly turning his eyes to her, and the sight of them made her flinch.

His eyes had changed. From the previous dark to a deep crimson, with a serpentine pitch-black slit in their center, an almost insane bloodlust radiated from them.

It was like looking into the eyes of a deranged madman.

"I... I..."

She tried to speak, but the words kept dying in her throat.

Only when White blinked, and the strange eyes faded, was she able to snap out of it and respond.

"I did try to look around for her in General Cyber class this morning, but... I couldn't find her. I think she's still in the hospital. Her injuries were really bad, after all."

She mused, and White hummed.

His hand, pushing the knob, bumped it back, slamming the door shut as he walked past her, heading back to the elevator.

DIIIING!

The elevator beeped, and the doors slid shut, leaving only her in the hall.

She stared at the closed elevator blankly for a while, her brows furrowed.

"What was that change? An ability?"

"But why does it seem like a new consciousness taking over him?"
