MUMAN FILES PART 5-TERRAPIN

Early 2148

Gate City, Commonwealth

The criminal organization Hunt sends three of their agents—Terrapin, Arsenal, and their boss Ravenger—on a mission to capture special tech from an Antrom Labs shipment. During the mission, they encounter a Super Society team called the Alpha Squad, consisting of Scream and Wielder and led by Nightingale.

After an intense battle, Ravenger realizes he can't win and leaves his protege behind to be captured by the supers.

"Arsenal surrenders, but Terrapin goes down fighting and swears vengeance on Ravenger for betraying them."

3 days later...

Terrapin is separated from his partner and taken to the Super Society base, where he meets Nightingale again.

Nightingale reveals he knows Terrapin's past as a former sidekick of the legendary vigilante Hawk Knight and wants to offer him a chance to join the Super Society. He agrees, but only in exchange for Arsenal's freedom.

"I can't do that because Arsenal died on the prison envoy, and her killer was none other than Ravenger," Nightingale tells him.

Terrapin then fully agrees if they help him track down the Ravenger.

Meanwhile, the Elites—Canman, Major Payne, and Forest Fire—watch the scene from another room. While Canman and Fire see the boy's potential, Payne is apprehensive and warns that if the boy gives them just one reason, he'll throw him in jail.

The next day...

Super Island

Terrapin, or Terry for short, is shown around the base by Nightingale and meets the Super Society's administrator, Mr. Tagg, its lead doctor, Dr. Plus, and its tech experts, consisting of supers Dr. Hoo and Dr. Small of the Legion team. Nightingale then hands him over to Tagg, much to Terry's disagreement.

However, he's apprehensive toward them all, which enrages them except for Tagg, who develops an interest in him.

Terry asks if he'll be joining a team, and Tagg introduces him to the Freelancer system, where supers unfit for teams are allowed to go on missions with other teams to gain experience.

Terry is then assigned to his first mission and meets his temporary team, the Gamma Squad, consisting of Hummingbird, Battleboy, Battlegirl, and Blink.

The team is led by Dr. Hoo to their first mission together.

Deep in the Super Society labs, there is a portal that they can use to travel to different dimensions. One such dimension is the Realm of Great. The Society sent some scientists to check out the place, but they were captured and needed a super team to save them.

The team agrees to the mission, but Terry is disgusted by the Society's willingness to use normal people for such experiments. He still agrees to save them, though.

The mission begins and the portal opens for the Gamma Squad to enter. They find themselves in a desert area and are immediately attacked by giant sandworms.

While the team tries to run, Terrapin chooses to fight them recklessly, which inspires Battleboy and Battlegirl to do the same, despite Hummingbird's orders to retreat. The team eventually all stay to fight the monsters but soon realize they are no match for them.

Just when they are about to be overwhelmed, however, they are saved by the natives of the realm, the ogres, who lead them to their village.

The team stays with the villagers and has a feast in celebration of the ogres saving their lives. Terrapin is apprehensive of these ogres as he senses something wrong with them.

He tries to interrogate the leader, Tim Bak Tu himself, much to the dismay of Hummingbird, who wanted to form a friendship with him. However, Tim doesn't know about the scientists who came through the portal. Tim's son, Tam, arrives and is apprehensive of the humans staying with his people and tries to force them out, leading to a battle with Terrapin that Hummingbird luckily stops.

As the team sleeps in the base so they can search for the scientists the next day, Terrapin chooses to stay awake since he doesn't trust them.

Deep in the night, he is attacked by mysterious robed figures who kidnap him.

The next day...

Hummingbird wakes up and realizes Terrapin is missing. He interrogates Tim only to get no answers. Realizing Terrapin was right about the villagers, he orders the team to attack until they get answers.

Terrapin wakes up in a cave surrounded by the scientists he came to save. He turns furious and attacks, but the chief's son puts up a very good fight and defeats him. He then traps Terrapin with the scientists and begins a ritual to use them as sacrifices to a powerful demonoid god named Megalo.

Terrapin escapes once again before the ritual is complete and saves the scientists. As they escape, Megalo, furious with Tam for not completing the ritual, uses him as a vessel and attacks the escapees.

Just as Hummingbird faces Tim, who tries to convince him that he knows nothing about what happened, he notices Terrapin with the scientists on the way.

Behind them, everyone sees a giant monster chasing them—that being Tam, controlled by the demonoid god Megalo.

Tim manages to finally convince Hummingbird of the truth: his son is actually a demon god worshiper.

Hummingbird gathers the team and saves Terrapin and the scientists. They all confront Megalo in a final battle but are quickly defeated. Luckily, it was all a distraction for Tim Bak Tu.

Tim appears from his hut with a powerful amulet, which he got from none other than Canman, who had faced Megalo before, and traps the god inside it, freeing his son from its influence.

Soon after the battle, the team decides to head back to the mainland with the scientists and thank Tim for his help. Tam apologizes to everyone for falling under the control of Megalo while Tim and his people wish them farewell.

On the way back, Hummingbird and Terrapin agree that they've learned from each other and they become friends, much to the satisfaction of Battleboy, Battlegirl, and Blink.

3 days later...

Tagg sends Terrapin on a mission to help the super team the Warriorz apprehend a monster terrorizing a local town called Truthville. While the leader of the team, Wing, is tolerant and friendly toward Terrapin, the other members—Fang, Horn, and Claw—are apprehensive of him.

The team arrives in the town and meets with the townspeople. They tell them about the monster living in a nearby mountain and how it's kidnapping people. They dub it the Sasquatch.

Wing assures them it'll be caught and leads the team to capture it.

On the way to the mountain, the team is ambushed by an army of Sasquatches but makes short work of them. Wing commends Terrapin for his fighting prowess, but Claw insults him, calling him weak, which leads to a fight between the two.

Just as it begins, though, the main Sasquatch himself shows up and attacks the team, empowering the defeated Sasquatches in the process. The team fights valiantly but realizes the monsters are getting more powerful by the second.

Terrapin decides to attack the main one directly to stop this madness but is easily defeated by it. Just before he's killed, Wing steps up and takes the blow meant for him.

Wing is soon transformed into a Sasquatch. Now they know what happened to the missing people. Wing attacks the team, and they are reluctant to fight him, except for Claw and Terrapin.

Terrapin realizes they stand no chance against him and decides to surrender. Claw insults him and keeps fighting, calling him weak again. Terrapin, realizing Claw might get them all killed, takes him out and begs the others to play dead. They quickly do so.

The team is taken to the Sasquatch's mountain, where it plans to convert them all into energy to power itself up and turn the town into monsters. The team then springs into action and faces the creature head-on. Terrapin is nearly killed by it, but Claw steps in and the two of them overwhelm the monster.

Losing concentration, Wing manages to break out of his spell just as he's about to kill Fang. Wing and Horn then join Claw and Terrapin in their assault against the Sasquatch and finally defeat the creature.

The team then reports to the town about what happened and is celebrated for saving them. Terrapin thanks the team for the experience, and Claw apologizes for underestimating him. Terrapin remembers the lessons he learned from Hummingbird, especially about his recklessness, and thanks him for them.

The next day...

Terrapin gets a call from Nightingale and is congratulated for his performance, learning he has the day off from Tagg, who joins the call.

As he's about to head out and enjoy his time out of the base, he notices all the scientists are acting strange. He then detects strange energy coming from the portal room and goes to investigate.

There he sees the scientists he saved have mutated into demon-like monsters, being possessed by Megalo. It seems their exposure to the ritual left a piece of him in them. They had defeated Dr. Small and Dr. Hoo, and they have activated the portal and have already sent one of their own through.

Terrapin battles the scientists and seems to be outmatching them until the other staff on the island ambush him and take him down.

The scientist from the portal arrives with the amulet that held Megalo and destroys it, freeing the monster, who spreads his influence across the scientists, turning them into demonoids.

Terrapin, furious, refuses to give up and frees Dr. Hoo and Dr. Small from capture. The three battle their way through the scientists and face Megalo, but he easily defeats them. Terrapin still doesn't give up and, despite failing numerous times, refuses to give up on stopping Megalo.

As Terrapin loses all hope, he feels a strong presence arrive.

It is Major Payne of the Elites.

He got the distress signal from Dr. Hoo and came as fast as he could.

He smiles at Terrapin for a moment, proud of his tenacity.

He battles the demonoids and powers through them without killing a single one, then faces Megalo. However, Megalo reveals his powers were fractured by Canman, so he isn't as powerful as he was in his prime. Major Payne sees this and uses it to his advantage, overwhelming the god.

In a last-bid effort to save himself, Megalo tries to possess Terrapin, so Major Payne stops him. However, Megalo reveals it was a ploy to get Payne's guard down and possess him instead, which, after a lot of effort, works and Payne is possessed.

As Payne gets ready to kill the heroes, he stops to feel another presence appear.

Forest Fire.

Megalo, inside Payne, tries to fight her but is no match for her immense fire powers. He tries to possess her, but her firepower burns his soul. Realizing he has no hope of winning, he tries to escape to find a new vessel.

He manages to use the scientists as decoys to distract her and leaves the island. However, just when he's free, his biggest rival appears.

The Canman.

Megalo, realizing he stands no chance against THE CANMAN, decides to release all his energy in an attempt to blow up the island and kill everyone on it. Canman allows him to charge up and even dares him to do it. Megalo obliges and in mere moments gets ready to destroy everything.

Suddenly, Canman throws one of his signature cans at the god, trapping him inside. He then throws the can into space, defeating the god with little effort at all.

Everyone is finally free of his influence and turns back to normal. Canman and Forest Fire praise Terrapin for his bravery and effort to stop the threat. Major Payne is still slightly apprehensive of him—a little less than before, though.

Canman tells Dr. Hoo to discard his portal as it's more trouble than it's worth. Dr. Hoo agrees and destroys the portal—at least, Canman thinks he does.

In reality, Dr. Small shrunk it soon after the event, and Dr. Hoo just used a holographic projection to trick everyone. They plan to continue their research on it elsewhere in secret. On their way, Dr. Small reveals she managed to find a small piece of Megalo, and the two begin to study it as well...

Nightingale arrives to congratulate Terrapin on his efforts and offers him a chance to join his team. Terry refuses and decides to stay and become a Freelancer.

A few days later, Terrapin is training in one of the training rooms and meets a young super heroine named Mage. The two quickly bond while training, and Terrapin develops a friendship with her. After the training, Terrapin agrees to visit her sometime, and she gives him a card, telling him to scratch it while saying her name to summon her.

Later, Terrapin is approached by none other than Canman, who tells him he's having a private mission with Major Payne.

"A creature known as the Demigorg has escaped the super team capturing them, the Spectrum, and is hiding in a far-off forest. Major Payne volunteered to go, and I want Terrapin to go with him and make sure Payne doesn't go too far."

Before Terrapin can ask further questions, Canman teleports away, leaving the boy with nothing else to do but look for Payne.

Once he meets Payne at his base, Payne introduces him to his Retribution team, led by Amazo, and they are given a mission to stop a demonoid invasion happening in Kingdom City.

As the team leaves, though, Amazo reveals that isn't their only mission, and they plan to steal popularity from the Danger Squad as well, much to Terrapin's silent disgust...
