Chapter 85 - 81- Damn, she hits hard…

Hey everyone,

I've just started posting my original webnovel on Webnovel.

The story follows a guy in a medieval world who gets a system that lets him summon heroes and legends from history — Arthur, Jeanne d'Arc, Leonidas, and many others. It's an empire-building isekai with a heavy focus on strategy, leadership, and the weight of commanding legends.

The first 8 chapters are already live. If you want to read ahead, I've made up to 5 chapters available for free on my Patreon.

If you check it out and read a bit, I'd really appreciate your honest thoughts. Feedback helps a lot, especially in these early chapters.

Title: Hero Empire System

Thanks in advance to anyone who gives it a chance!

Kenjaku narrowed his eyes. He felt a strange disturbance in the air, as if something was imperceptibly shifting around them. An oppressive sensation.

His instincts went on high alert.

He turned his gaze toward his barrier… and his breath caught in his throat.

Cracks.

Cracks were spreading across the very structure of his energy shield.

"How…?"

It wasn't possible. A barrier could be weakened by repeated attacks, certainly, but it didn't break like this—not so easily. Yet he saw with his own eyes the fault lines widening, as if his shield was being eaten away from within.

He shifted his focus to Geto, who was watching him with an amused look.

"You know, I learned something recently," Geto said, crossing his arms. "A barrier can be resilient… but it isn't impenetrable."

Geto slowly raised his fist.

"You just have to hit harder."

Geto clenched his fist, and in that precise instant, Kenjaku's barrier shattered.

A dull sound echoed in the air, followed by a sinister crack. The barrier's energy fragmented, scattering like broken glass.

A cold rage rose within Kenjaku.

"Tch!"

Without hesitation, he launched forward, cursed energy erupting around him like a storm.

He shot straight toward him at blinding speed. His fist, charged with energy, cut through the air.

One centimeter.

That was the distance separating him from Geto's face.

But in that precise moment…

His body stopped cold.

No block, no physical resistance. Just… total paralysis.

His muscles refused to obey. His breath froze.

He was immobilized.

Geto, meanwhile, let out a long sigh. He looked at Kenjaku, and there was no amusement or anger left in his eyes. Only… a hint of disappointment.

"Honestly," he murmured, shaking his head.

He raised a hand, pressing his thumb against his chin thoughtfully.

"I expected a better ending for you, Kenjaku. This is… disappointing."

The darkness deepened.

And, in the silence that followed, Kenjaku understood.

He had lost.

Uraume stormed forward with furious steps, her expression cold and unyielding. Her pale hair streamed behind her, whipped by the icy storm instinctively emanating from her body. Rage burned in her chest, but instead of heat, it manifested as a biting chill that froze the ground beneath her feet.

A figure appeared before her.

The copy.

Uraume stopped dead, her eyes narrowing.

"Move."

The copy gave no reply. It tilted its head in a mechanical motion before vanishing… only to reappear a heartbeat later just steps from Uraume, its fist slicing through the air at blinding speed.

Uraume leapt back, narrowly avoiding the blow. The strike tore through the air with terrifying force, kicking up a cloud of dust. The next instant, the enemy was already on her again, gliding across the ground with unnatural fluidity.

"Tch…"

Uraume raised her hand.

The ground beneath her instantly froze, and a wave of crystalline spikes erupted toward the copy. The frozen shards screeched through the air… but as they struck the enemy, they passed straight through.

Uraume narrowed her eyes.

"Of course…"

She dodged a kick with a pivot, but the copy immediately adapted. Its arm stretched unnaturally, whipping through the air.

Uraume crossed her arms to shield herself. The blow landed squarely. An icy wave surged up her veins, as though her own cold had turned against her.

She staggered back a step, shaking her head to dispel the numbness.

"Can't touch it directly… and if I stay defensive, it'll eventually take me down."

The copy lunged again.

But this time, Uraume was ready.

She stomped her foot against the ground. A circle of ice spread instantly beneath her, and in the blink of an eye, the temperature plummeted.

Her form blurred, vanishing from sight, only to reappear behind the shadow, pressing her frozen palm against its back. A shockwave of frost exploded on impact, the air crackling with the power of ice.

Yet… nothing.

The enemy's body vibrated slightly. Then, with no effort, it pivoted and drove an elbow toward Uraume's temple.

She blocked just in time, sliding back smoothly across the frozen ground.

"Well, this is going to be tricky…"

She drew a deep breath and stretched out her hands.

A dome of ice snapped shut around the copy, its translucent walls trapping it within a crystalline prison. From outside, jagged spikes of ice closed in slowly, threatening to crush it.

Uraume clenched her fingers.

But then—a sinister crack echoed.

The ice splintered… then shattered in an explosion of glittering shards.

The copy stepped out unharmed.

Uraume gritted her teeth.

"You're starting to annoy me."

She slid back slightly, rubbing her fingers together. A mist of frost rose around her, and the ground beneath them shifted imperceptibly.

The copy charged again.

But the instant its foot touched the ground… it slipped.

Uraume smirked.

She had covered the entire field with a layer of ice so thin it was invisible. The shadow tried to regain balance, but too late.

Uraume all but teleported, appearing behind it.

She slammed her fist down hard. A blast of frost erupted across the battlefield, toppling the copy's already unsteady form. This time, its body wavered… and partially disintegrated.

Uraume seized the opportunity.

She stretched out her arms and carved swiftly across the frozen ground.

A blizzard spiraled around her, sealing the copy within a reinforced icy barrier.

The shadow struggled, but the prison finally locked shut.

Uraume exhaled and released the pressure. She cracked her knuckles and turned toward the abandoned cinema.

But she didn't advance.

There was still someone left.

The woman who had accompanied Geto, standing motionless beneath a broken lamppost.

Uraume's gaze sharpened.

"What are you waiting for?" she said coldly.

No response.

Then, suddenly, the woman moved.

Uraume reacted on instinct, raising her arm to block the strike.

A sharp impact. A violent shock. The raw force pushed her back, her feet skidding across the thin sheet of ice still covering the ground.

But the woman gave her no time to recover.

She pressed forward relentlessly.

Fists, elbows, knees. Uraume blocked as best she could, but every blow reverberated through her bones.

"Damn, she hits hard…"
