Chapter 241 - Chapter 241: Scoring 204 Points

All eyes were now focused on Aurora. Her arrogant demeanor and bold claims may not have pleased the Trainers present, but everyone eagerly awaited to see if she could surpass Sunny's score.

With Sunny achieving 141 points, such a high score was not easily beaten. If Aurora failed to exceed it, her arrogance would backfire spectacularly, leading to immense embarrassment.

Even the spectators held anticipation, wondering whether Aurora could outdo Sunny's score. Should she fall short, despite her attractiveness, they wouldn't hesitate to ridicule her, potentially leaving her humiliated.

"This girl is quite audacious," Julian whispered under his breath. When Sunny's score was announced earlier, he was taken aback, thinking it might be unbeatable.

Now with Aurora stepping up, Julian felt that she was merely boasting, as reaching 141 points seemed insurmountable. He couldn't fathom anyone surpassing this impressive score.

"I think her score might indeed surpass Sunny's, but it depends on her Pokemon," Kalia said with a serious expression. She wasn't surprised by Sunny's score; Eruption is among the top Fire-type moves. It would have been unusual if he hadn't achieved such a high mark.

Whether Aurora could exceed this score hinged on her chosen Pokemon and the move it utilized.

As a student from the advanced class, there was no doubt that Aurora's Pokemon would be exceptional.

"She released her Pokemon, but what kind is it?" Julian looked ahead, puzzled, as he had never seen this particular Pokemon before.

"That's a Chandelure, a Pokemon from the Ellie Region, classified as both Ghost and Fire-types, evolved from Litwick," Kalia explained, any initial goodwill towards Aurora now dissipating.

Chandelure resembles a chandelier, with a purple, eerie flame burning at its top, while four additional lamp holders also emit similar purple flames.

Initially, Kalia thought Aurora's arrogance was tolerable, but upon seeing her Chandelure, all positive feelings vanished instantly.

The flames of a Chandelure burn by absorbing souls. In essence, for a Chandelure to become stronger, it needs to absorb the souls of living beings, sustaining its flames and thereby increasing its power.

While unlikely to consume human souls, it undoubtedly absorbs many Pokemon's souls, transforming them into soulless husks - just contemplating this was chilling.

Apart from Kalia, other Trainers also displayed unease upon seeing the Chandelure. Ghost Type Pokemon are inherently mysterious and unpredictable, with very few being successfully tamed.

Moreover, a Ghost Type capable of absorbing souls is even more concerning. Legend has it that Chandelure's purple flames can directly scorch one's soul.

Most people harbor fear towards such Pokemon. Although there have been no known instances of humans getting burned by Chandelure's flames, nobody willingly risks it, fearing the possibility might be true.

After releasing her Chandelure, Aurora pointed at the blue apparatus and commanded, "Chandelure, use Overheat."

Chandelure likely possesses higher Special Attack than Typhlosion, but Overheat falls short compared to Eruption. It remains uncertain how high this Chandelure will score on the device.

All Trainers intently focused on the blue device's display screen, eager to learn Aurora's score immediately.

Being a Ghost-Type, Chandelure could naturally float in the air even without the Levitate Ability. It gracefully drifted towards the blue apparatus as massive amounts of flame energy gathered at its lamp opening, then aimed directly at the device ahead.

Different Pokemon releasing the same move can vary significantly due to distinct energy burst points. For example, when Charizard uses Overheat, it can release the move either through the flames on its tail or from its mouth, ultimately unleashing all fire energy simultaneously for immense power.

In the case of Chandelure, the energy burst point originates from its lamp opening, where the purple flame burns. Concentrating fire energy there, it precisely targeted the blue apparatus and unleashed a powerful eruption.

The intense violet flame burst forth, momentarily dimming the other four supporting lamps as all energy concentrated at the main lamp, akin to a volcanic eruption.

There was no loud explosion, just the sound of flames erupting, as the scorching violet blaze surged towards the blue apparatus.

The intense purple flames struck the blue instrument, and just as the scorching fire energy was about to disperse, it was swiftly absorbed by the device.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Numbers flickered rapidly on the display screen, capturing everyone's undivided attention. Gradually, a final number emerged.

As soon as this number appeared, the air seemed to freeze. Even Sunny, who had scored 141 points earlier, was rendered speechless at the sight of it.

204 Points!

Kalia was astounded; how could anyone achieve such a high score? It was truly astonishing, surpassing even Sunny's Typhlosion by over sixty points.

Apart from Kalia, everyone else was equally shocked and began murmuring among themselves, discussing Aurora's background, the legends surrounding Chandelure, and whether Aurora could become one of the top contenders for the double battle competition title.

"Wow, 204 points!" Julian whispered in amazement, trying to keep his voice low. Initially, he never imagined that Aurora could outscore Typhlosion, but not only did she exceed it, she surpassed it significantly, achieving a staggering difference of 63 points!

Notably, Sunny's gaze towards Aurora shifted momentarily before returning to normal. The first round of testing merely determined eligibility for the competition; advancing further was his primary goal.

While Aurora's score surpassed his, it only indicated potential power. Overheat has side effects, weakening with repeated use during battles, making it unsuitable for sustained combat.

This is a double battle competition, and despite Chandelure's impressive performance, Sunny believed he could still hold his own against her. The true test would come in the second round.

Aurora proudly looked at Sunny and scoffed, "See that? Still think I'm being arrogant now?"

Sunny hummed dismissively, unyielding, "We'll see what happens next. As long as you don't get defeated by others, we're bound to face each other eventually. Wait until you defeat me, then you can repeat those words."

Following Aurora's completion of the test, other Trainers proceeded one by one. However, no one felt proud of their scores anymore, feeling embarrassed if they didn't reach over a hundred points when comparing themselves to Sunny and Aurora's achievements.
