A few moments later, in the Anbu headquarters;
Team Shi walked inside the quarters after their brief visit and delivery to Ibiki.
The quarters, as usual, are mostly empty, with few teams present, as the others are on missions.
"What are you going to do now?" Ryuu asked, giving Phoenix a side glance as they kept walking.
"I will write my report, put my gear away, leave, get something to eat that isn't rations or food pills, and get my much-needed sleep. What about you?" Phoenix said.
"Same here. I will go and check on Neko quickly before preparing my report, and then I am leaving. I need a regular meal, while my version of the food pill is way better than the mass-produced ones. It got pretty boring and tiring to only have that as food for almost a month," Ryuu said.
"True. Then I guess I will see you later, Buntaicho." Phoenix said
"Yeah. Take care of yourself." Ryuu replied, to which Phoenix nodded before heading towards the armory while Ryuu made his way towards the medical wing of the Anbu quarters.
"...fine," Ryuu heard Hawk's voice as he neared the room where Neko was recovering.
"That's because Ryuu was there, Taicho. If he weren't, she would have been here alive. No one lives from the injuries she received." Ryuu heard Tenzo reply.
"What was the mission?" Ryuu heard Hawk ask as he reached for the door
"We can't disclose the mission details without Hokage-sama's permission, Taicho." Ryuu heard as he pushed the door open, making Hawk, Inu, and Tenzo look at him
"Ryuu." Hawk greeted with a subtle nod
"Taicho," Ryuu greeted him back in the same manner.
"Will she be alright?" Hawk said as he gave a side glance to Neko, who was lying on the bed with an oxygen mask, as her ANBU mask was absent, along with multiple wires connecting her to monitoring machines to make sure she is doing well until she finally wakes up.
"She is fine now. Her injuries were treated on the field. She is still unconscious because I needed to put her brain into deep sleep so I could have enough time to heal her wounds, due to how grave they were. She will wake up in a few days when her brain fully wakes up." Ryuu said with an even tone.
"What were her injuries for you to put her into deep sleep, effectively a coma?" Hawk asked. He doesn't know why or how Ryuu did that, as he doesn't have that level of medical knowledge, but he also knew that it had to be very serious for Ryuu to resort to that.
"Hokage-sama has classified the mission with its details as an S-rank. If you want to know the mission details and how it was conducted, then you will have to get that information from Hokage-sama, Taicho." Ryuu said, making Hawk a bit speechless.
"Are you serious? Even her injuries?" Hawk asked, to which Ryuu nodded, before he moved to Neko's side to give her a quick check, along with checking the machines monitoring her.
"Everything is fine. From now on, it's waiting until she wakes up." Ryuu said as he gave Neko a final look before turning to look at Hawk.
"Now, if you excuse me, I have a report to write," Ryuu said, to which Hawk nodded, while Tenzo seemed to look at Inu.
"Ah, yes, we are supposed to write one too. Then we can finally have some quiet time to ourselves. What do you think, Buntaicho?" Tenzo said, to which Inu gave a small nod.
CrAck
The sudden sound of something breaking filled the room, making Inu and Tenzo look at the source, only to see Ryuu standing completely still with the door of the room slightly open, with its handle crushed in Ryuu's hand.
"Did you just...say the Q word…"Ryuu said with a chilling, calm tone as he turned around slowly to look at Tenzo.
"In my hospital?!" Ryuu finished with disbelief and displeasure seeping into his voice.
Tenzo, along with Inu, was perplexed by Ryuu's reaction. Especially Tenzo, who, even though he couldn't see Ryuu's eyes behind his mask, he could feel as if Ryuu was looking at his soul.
"Ryuu…. Ryuu. I swear I saw him a few minutes ago." A voice was heard calling from outside, making Ryuu turn around to close the door, but fate wasn't that generous.
"There you are." An Anbu wearing a cat mask(leopard) entered the room.
"We got a word that there are multiple operatives with varying levels of injury inbound. We need your help." Leopard said, looking at Ryuu.
"Fine, let's go," Ryuu said while sighing deeply. He then formed a shadow clone that left without a word to write his report.
"Taicho." Ryuu and Leopard said as they were about to leave, to which Hawk gave a small nod.
As they were leaving, Ryuu gave a final glance at Tenzo before leaving with Leopard.
"What was that about?" Inu asked
"Hospital staff, along with doctors and medical nin believe that if they or anybody else were to use the word "quiet" or something similar in their workplace, they would get very busy after the word was said. Not only them, but many of the Uchiha police and other shinobi on the field feel that way. Especially Shinobi on a mission, they think such words will get them killed," Hawk said with a sigh
"Isn't that just a superstition?" Tenzo asked, a bit confused.
"You would think that, but it happened so many times now that many have accepted it as a fact," Hawk replied with a slight shrug before looking directly at Tenzo.
"The only thing that I can tell you is good luck. No one is safe from Ryuu's getback if he gets annoyed at someone. Not even Hokage-sama." Hawk said before stepping out of the room.
Hours later, a couple of hours before midnight;
Naruto let out a tired sigh as he walked through the streets of Konoha, with the moonlight being the dominant light source above.
He had just been able to get out of his ANBU uniform and into his regular jonin attire after being swamped for hours by multiple critically injured ANBU operatives.
Now he just wanted a good meal and to have a good night's sleep after all of what had happened for the past four weeks and what had happened today.
"Sleep with one eye open, Tenzo. Sleep with one eye open." Naruto said with a blank tone to himself that made the few people on the street who passed him shudder slightly when they heard his tone.
"Let's go see if Ichiraku is still open. I am not in the mood to cook or make something." Naruto muttered before making his way towards the street where Ichiraku was.
To be continued.
