King Eric was working at his desk when his wife, Maria, entered.
"So you know, dear." Queen Maria said. "Meredith is playing spy with the spymaster's boy."
"Oh? How fun." Eric replied, barely looking up from his desk.
"I think your office will be their next stop." Maria said, leaving.
Moments later, Meredith was tiptoeing down the hall, trying not to giggle, her gown rustling loudly. Gil followed quietly behind her, nervously looking around.
"This is where daddy–ahem–" Meredith whispered, beside the open door. "This is where the king does his most secret stuff."
Gil nodded, resigned.
"Oh my." King Eric said, talking to himself. "This is a very important state secret. I sure hope it doesn't fall into the wrong hands."
Meredith peeked into the office to see what King Eric was talking about. Gil's eyes glazed over in understanding, the tension releasing from his body.
"I suppose it's time for a break." King Eric said, getting up from his desk.
