Chapter 364 - Electrifying Spark

Equan smiled behind his mask, his legs launching him into the air just after Chase made his own attack.

As he soared above, his eyes glanced across the rising and falling crowd. Every single person that he could see among others was a part of this wave of motion as the yells and chants slowly ceased in Equan's ears.

He let his bow release from his hand's grip, allowing gravity to let it hover for but a single moment in front of his ascended body.

Then he wrapped his boot underneath the arm of the bow, letting his other boot grapple the ethereal string.

'If I can't use my arms...'

He would use his legs...

BOOM!

His upper back leaned back as the lightning struck from his shot, catching the golden archer by surprise.

This gave Equan a single moment to twist his body as the archer readied another shot.

FWOOSH!

A giant arrow soared straight between his head and lower body, much thanks to arched form.

He twisted his legs, spinning the bow in an arc and readying another shot.

Just as he drew another arrow back, sizzling and zapping with static blue energy... He lifted his hand, pointing forward with his index and middle finger, aiming it straight at the golden archer with a grin behind his mask.

"Boom..." He whispered, releasing the shot from his leg-drawn bow and chuckling as the archer threw himself out of the way.

But he did not account for the multitude of ways that Equan could summon his energy...

His fingers began to spark.

Speeeewwww!

BOOM!

He laughed, as his fingers released a small but compacted bolt of energy, struck his golden armor.

'Only a fool would wear a set of gold against the likes of me...' He thought, unable to wipe the grin from behind his new mask.

His sign hovered in the air as his body began to descend.

He turned away, outstretching his arms and flicking his knees in order to collapse the bow.

Behind his descending form... A lightshow of electricity and bright golden armor lit up the entire afternoon sky...

The crowd silenced in awe as Equan couldn't help but feel the moment.

His body landed with a calculated thud, and his right hand's palm pointed towards the sky behind him.

The compacted bow landed with a soft thud in that very same hand, as his upper body lowered into a bow of his own body.

Behind him... The golden archer collapsed with sparks flying off of his excellent conductor of electricity- being his flashy golden armor...

...

In the small corridor around the inner circle of the coliseum, Equan laughed aloud with several people who had joined their march through the coliseum.

Chase muttered quietly underneath his breath, not wanting to gain this much attention.

"And then he just took it like a good boy!" Equan thundered with laughter, pointing at the helmetless golden archer who was also walking among their group.

Everyone laughed besides him, who they had found out had born the name of Granderson.

"I could of had you..." Granderson muttered, rolling his dark golden eyes, and brushing his static shocked brown hair back down, only for it to refuse and puff back up, bringing about another round of laughter from the adventurers and gladiators of the coliseum.

Chase; however, was scanning the halls for Luna as they walked.

His arms were terribly sore from just the single mighty swing of Apocalypse, protesting to do anything but lazily swing back and forth as he walked.

Although he was proud of his efforts, he couldn't shake the feeling of wanting more from that fight, or even just more from himself.

Fighting with the greataxe was quite different from a broadsword, as he could not move nearly as fast, nor could he perform quick blocks and deflections.

The weapon also called for him to use far more arcs and abuse the momentum of his attacks, that could effectively chain into another attack, or even three in a row if the opponent could not get out of the way in time.

Another benefit was the range that came with such a large weapon.

However, if someone were faster than him... It would spell certain doom in battle.

Luckily, Chase had Equan's over eccentric aid for any battles that he could not take himself.

The demon of speed could now not only fight at long ranges, but could perform better than expected in close quarters combat.

He had found this out in Olympia, before he had been defeated by Hextra, he had put on a show of his own with just his bare hands, but he had been told that he had fought a manipulated Gabriel with nothing but an electric sword, and had not only held his own, but had put up an excellent winning fight.

'Luna?' Chase asked mentally, awaiting an answer as he walked towards the back of the group.

'I went home... Something I had to do...' She responded with what sounded like annoyance in her voice.

Chase frowned, until a large hand gripped his shoulders and he was greeted with a bruised grin as he turned his head.

"Mighty fight indeed! You did not disappoint!" The man with the ram skull for a helmet and a pair of underwear chuckled with a terribly beaten in face.

"Sorry... I could have held back." Chase muttered behind his mask.

"No no! I would have felt nothing but utter embarrassment had you not strucken me with such a fantastic blow! The name is Victor by the way." He winked with a grin, still wearing horrible bruises all over his overly shown body.

"Sure..." Chase responded, pointing at the small nameplate engraved in his own ivory armor.

"Ellie...?" Victor read with a satisfied squint, followed by a short nod.

Chase looked down in confusion, then back up at Victor.

"No. You read it wrong..." Chase groaned, avoiding the urge to palm his own face.

"No wonder! I can't read at all!" Victor boomed with laughter, squeezing his shoulder far too much to be a comfortable action.

Chase did not respond, only taking a deep breath under his mask.

"Anyway men and women! Allow us to buy you fellas a couple drinks!" Victor grinned, pointing at a rickety door within the coliseum walls, with a broken sign leaned against the wall next to it- reading "Gladiators Gate" however, half of the word Gladiator was scratched out and covered in a weird yellow stain, so Chase had to strain both his eyes and brain in order to read it.

The adventurers around them cheered and patted Equan and Chase on the back, before leading them into what appeared as a very busy tavern with projections of the next battle hovering above each table.

'Too young...' Chase muttered internally, scowling at Equan who had cut the entire line and was actively ordering several different types of ale.
