Standing on the steps, Ash withdrew her gaze from the rear windshield of the teacher's car. She rang the doorbell; there was no response and no one opened the door.
She suddenly froze for a moment, then her body began to tremble slightly.
When she came down from the school administration building, she saw those cleaners wiping the bloodstains off the ground and the police loading body bags into the cars.
She started to let her thoughts run wild, becoming fearful, and pressed the doorbell several more times, but still, there was no response.
Just as she was about to take off her backpack, frantically searching for the key but unable to insert it into the lock, the door slowly opened.
Her mother's eyes looked at her without focus, not like she was seeing her daughter, a living person, but more like she was looking at something.
