Heres's voice faded as he was dragged by Kliatana back toward the path they had come from, his feet kicking up sand as he was hauled away. Javier clapped his hands together once, watching the scene with a wry smile.
He glanced at Marcellus, Cedric, and Aelius, who stood beside him. The sand wall had vanished, the magic circles had dissolved, leaving only the peaceful beach and the sound of waves.
"Rest in peace, my brother. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten."
Marcellus pressed a hand to his chest and bowed his head. "He was a good man. Annoying, but good."
Cedric sighed dramatically. "Gone too soon. May he find peace in the afterlife."
