Chapter 69 - Cataclysmic Event Part 1

One moment the space empty, until a bright void white light shone next to us.

Looking further a figure was there, stepping through she seemed tall at a glance, with a suit that ran the blue of sky. A pair of ears complimented the white, but she seemed to move like every second spent in a place was borrowed.

Bunnyx.

I already knew when she tended to show up something wrong was or has happened in the timeline. Could it have been the two of us?

She looked at me first. Then at Adrien.

"Good," she said. "You're together. That saves time. Which is—" She almost made some sort of joke and then didn't, which told me more than any briefing would have. "Come with me, the both of you."

"What is it," I said.

She looked at me seriously

"A future timeline is collapsing,"

"It was there not long ago, I'll have to check and see but for now I just need—" She stopped eye lifting as she looked towards her palm. "I'm starting to fade. whatever's happening in that future timeline we need to stop,"

"Ladybug is already there."

Adrien and I didn't need to look at each other.

"Lead the way," he said, and she quickly stepped through.

I walked forward first and faded into the white light. Finally seeing the other side, it was almost a dome like shape. filled to the brim with burrows, the pure white space seemed endless in scope, we seemed to even be on an invisible platform.

I heard cat noir follow in next,

What the?!

Darkness surrounded me in an instant

"Secon-"

"You guys aren't allowed to see the future please understand, I already found the timeline you guys'll need to fix just walk forward and I'll investigate from here,"

"Good luck you two, stop whoever ruining stay safe." She offered pushing us forward gently.

I felt the same tingling feeling going through the white burrow the first time, but as if a door was opened, I felt a gust of wind.

The light was wrong.

That was the first thing I noticed. Taking the bag from my head and seeing Adrien do the same I finally looked forward, and my eyes took in the sight of this other paris. We where atop a relatively medium sized building, I recognized the same roof lining, and roughly the area we were in, But everything I did recognize felt different. The blue was a half-degree too pale, the shadows falling at an angle that didn't correspond to where the sun should have been.

"Ugh!"

I heard Adrien let out a gasp and I looked at him.

Then I looked up.

The moon was there. It shouldn't have been visible in what read as early afternoon, but it was there, and as I watched it, something was wrong with it too. A faint luminescence around its edges that didn't belong. And then, not a second later—

It shattered.

The moon broke into a massive crater right before my eyes.

It came apart from the inside. A stream of green light tore free from the surface and shot downward, arrow straight. Then a bloom of bluish white energy, dense and total began expanding outward from every remaining surface of the moon, consuming the debris fields, the new craters, the fragments that were beginning to drift. The white sun like presence seemed to absorbed half of the moon almost gently

We stood at the mouth of the now closing burrow and watched.

What the fuck. Were the only words I could think.

This was to different from what I had expected. It was mesmerizing in the way that terrible beautiful things sometimes are.

"L-Luka what should we do," Adrien said quietly, beside me.

"Ladybug," I said.

He gave a nod

"Then let's go," I said leaping to the next building.

"Sass scales slither!"

Cat Noir and I moved fast.

I ran the rooflines and he bounded beside me. The thing was everything seemed relatively calm.

Streets below had a handful of people in them. Less than usual but they were there. Buildings stood, and for the most part windows unbroken. Passing Marinettes café on one corner It seemed completely fine besides being closed.

"I hope milady's not up there by herself," Adrien said quietly to himself.

I stopped just before the Eiffel tower "wait up here, I'll check the overall scene from up there."

Crouching to the ground I leaped up, landing in the middle of the tower and quickly climbed the rest with grace. at the top perching at its point, the vision provided from my Miraculous gave my sight a good push helping my extending my focus outward to the distance, threading past the rows of rooflines, past the bridges, and past the curve of the landscape where the city continued its unbroken density for kilometers in every direction.

Or should have.

What I saw instead was edge.

Not blurring, nor fading. Paris simply stopped and the ground beneath it dropped into the rest of the endless sky. The city wasn't surrounded by countryside or suburbs or the outer ring of the périphérique. A clean break, like something had taken a cookie cutter to the planet and removed everything but this chunk.

Falling to the bottom I let the wind faze by me before angling my legs, and hitting the ground with a loud thud..

"Adrien," I said.

"Yeah? Have you found Ladybug, is everythingg," he stopped seeing my expression;

"It's not fine."

He was quiet for a second. "Ugh, How bad is it all."

"The chunk we're standing on," I said slowly, "is what's left."

Another silence.

"Wait do you hear that?" Cat noir asked.

I couldn't hear a thing besides the wind blowing.

"No?"

"People, a group are somewhere together nearby, they sound like there in trouble maybe Ladybugs nearby."

Right, we had to find ladybug she seems to be the only one who could potentially fix this.
