Rose noticed and said quietly, "He's already noticed you."
"That's fine," Max said.
Rose glanced at him. "You don't look worried."
"Should I be?"
Rose stayed quiet for a moment. Then she sighed lightly. "I forgot who I was talking to."
She looked toward the Ravenhart end next.
"The strongest genius of Ravenhart is Seraphine Ravenhart."
Max's gaze shifted. The Ravenhart platform was the quietest of the four clan ends, and the people seated there looked far more restrained than the rest. Near the center of the highest seating area sat a young woman in a deep violet dress, her black hair falling over one shoulder like silk.
A faint feather-shaped mark rested between her brows, and her eyes carried a strange shade of silver-purple. She looked gentle at first glance, almost scholarly, but the space around her felt off somehow. The shadows near her chair moved slightly even though there was no wind.
