After a moment of consideration, Hiruzen smiled and said, "Very well. I'll allow it. But have Xin come to my office before he leaves. There's something I need to discuss with him."
"Right away, Hokage-sama," Minato said, smiling as he received permission. He quickly left, eager to share the news.
"Wants to see me, huh?" Xin muttered, surprised at how easily Minato's request had been approved. What did the Hokage want with him? Was it about Hyuga Suzune's safety?
That seemed like an overreaction.
Even if Hyuga Suzune was a member of the Hyuga Clan's main family, who could possibly take her away from Xin?
"Did Minato say why he wanted to see me?" Xin asked.
Do he look like I'd know that? Minato's eyes seemed to say, giving Xin an amused look.
"You're so useless!" Xin laughed.
"Go to hell," Minato shot back with a grin.
Minato chuckled, playfully punching Xin on the arm.
"Go on, maybe the Hokage has a special mission lined up for you."
"Special mission? That's the last thing I want to hear. Nothing good ever comes from those."
Xin grumbled as he waved off Minato and headed toward the Hokage's office.
Just like Xin said, whenever the words "special mission" popped up, trouble was always sure to follow.
"Knock, knock, knock!"
"Come in."
Xin stepped through the door, entering the Hokage's office.
"Hokage-sama."
The Third Hokage set aside the documents he'd been reading and looked up at Xin.
"I heard from Minato that you've decided to take your team toward the Land of Rain and the Land of Iron on a mission?"
"Yes," Xin confirmed with a nod.
"I haven't settled on the exact path yet. I need to review the available missions carefully since Hyuga Suzune is part of the team. I'll have to take that into account."
"Though the Hyuga Clan has always been very protective, I believe that keeping flowers sheltered in a greenhouse will only make them weak. It's time to let them experience the real world."
"You're right. Without facing challenges, these kids won't be able to stand on their own," the Hokage agreed with Xin's assessment.
"Since that's the case, I have a mission I'd like you to take on and complete."
"What mission?" Xin asked bluntly.
"If it's anything to do with Hanzo, then count me out."
"Uh..."
