Chapter 138
"I'm really sorry… I honestly didn't mean to hurt you." Kai whispered his voice low and filled with guilt. "It felt as though I had no control over my body. Like… I don't know… I felt different"
They were currently sitting side by side on a large rock, the constant roar of the waterfall filling the silence between them. Mist clung to their skin, their clothes soaked from the water as they had just climbed out of it a few minutes ago. Droplets slid down Lyanna's arms, catching the fading light as the sun dipped lower behind the trees.
Lyanna brushed her wet hair back from her face, strands clinging stubbornly to her cheeks. She turned to face him, noticing how tense his shoulders were,his hands clenched so tightly that his knuckles started to turn pale.
"Why are you apologizing again, Kai?" She asked softly. "I already said it's fine. I know it's not your fault. I'm fine"
Kai's jaw tightened. "I just… it's not okay. What if I actually manage to hurt you next time?"
