Nirvana was an ultra-magic created by the ancient people known as the Nirvit Tribe. It could swap light and darkness, fundamentally changing a person's sense of good and evil.
In the beginning, the peace-loving Nirvit Tribe had wanted to use it to quell the wars raging across the land and maintain balance in the world.
The effect was remarkable. It ushered in a brief era of peace and stability.
But lacking the sufficient ability to control such powerful magic ultimately led to fatal consequences.
The "dark side of humanity," which had been converted to light, turned on the Nirvit Tribe. The once prosperous cities that symbolized peace became hell on earth. The tribe was eventually driven to extinction in brutal, bloody civil war.
That was the origin of Nirvana.
Chase was well aware of its dangers. Aside from being curious about the extent of this ancient ultra-magic's power, there was an even more important reason he wanted to activate it. He wanted to try to improve and refine it, eliminate its potential negative side effects.
Phantom Lord had the Six-Legged Walker. Blue Pegasus had Christina. Naturally, Fairy Tail should have its own magical weapon.
He had already been thinking about this before deciding to participate in the Oración Seis subjugation.
"That sounds amazing. But Chase, how do you plan to do it?"
Natsu, who had come along with him, was knocking on the exposed part of Nirvana.
When he first learned that Fairy Tail might have its own magical weapon, he had been incredibly excited. But after hearing Chase's description of Nirvana, he could not help but feel a little worried.
Though he was reckless and did things without a plan, Natsu could still assess a situation when it came to major decisions.
Chase was the same way.
So, if Chase was not a hundred percent certain, he would simply destroy Nirvana completely.
For Chase, who knew how to destroy Nirvana, that presented no difficulty or risk. That confidence was precisely the reason he had decided to activate it.
"Sorry, Natsu. I do not have a plan at the moment," Chase admitted honestly, spreading his hands.
"Then why are we even activating it?!"
Natsu's enthusiasm vanished. He sat on the ground with his arms crossed, pouting.
"Do not be hasty. Just because I do not have a plan does not mean no one else does."
Chase smiled and showed the two Monster Cards between his fingers.
Since it involved magic of light and darkness, it just so happened that his Card Monster partners were experts in this field.
WHIR!
Under Natsu's surprised gaze, magic circles slowly unfolded. Two stepped figures out from the chaos of light formed by the intertwining of light and darkness.
A long gemstone staff radiated dense magic power. A sword and shield glowed with chaotic halos.
The two who appeared were the highest beings in their respective domains: Dark Magician of Chaos and Chaos Soldier!
"Dark Magician's teacher? And the weird-talking but strong guy!"
Natsu's eyes lit up. He immediately jumped to his feet and began greeting them like an old friend.
"Long time no see, Natsu. The last time we met was during the Phantom Lord incident, was it not?" Dark Magician of Chaos responded coolly.
"Rejected. I am Chaos Soldier, not the weird-talking guy." Chaos Soldier was completely serious. As for being strong, he seemed to accept that.
"Whatever! Who wants to fight me first? Actually, forget it! The two of you can just come at me together!"
Natsu excitedly clenched his fiery fists. He silently thanked Chase for being so considerate, knowing he still wanted to fight more, and summoning Dark Magician of Chaos and Chaos Soldier for him.
Compared to them, Lucy was way too boring. When he got back to Magnolia, he would definitely catch a mouse and put it in her bed!
"Um..." Even knowing Natsu's personality, Chase could not help but feel speechless. "Wait, Natsu. I did not summon them so you could—"
Before he could finish, Natsu had already charged forward, his fists blazing with fire.
Dark Magician of Chaos and Chaos Soldier barely had to try. Very quickly, with two lumps on his head, Natsu was down for the count.
Truly the weakest at Fairy Tail civil wars!
Meanwhile, Erza and the others, having heard the news, rushed over. They completely ignored Natsu, whose soul had left his body. They looked at Chase with confusion and uncertainty.
Out of trust, they did not believe Chase would activate Nirvana without a good reason. But it was ultimately a weapon of mass destruction that even Oración Seis had wanted. The risk was simply too great. They had to be cautious.
Chase dusted off his hands and let out a somewhat tired sigh. Summoning two eight-star Card Spirits at once was still a bit much for him, especially right after a big battle.
After catching his breath, he leaped down from the exposed leg of Nirvana and explained his true intentions to everyone.
"Remodeling Nirvana into a controllable magical weapon? Hahaha! That is just like you,Chase!" Ur laughed.
"Even so, this is far too dangerous. Should we not at least report it to the Council?" Jura, mindful of his responsibility as a Ten Wizard Saint, looked worried.
"If you told those stubborn old men, the answer would definitely be no."
Ichiya raised two fingers, his entire face bathed in sparkling special effects. "I offer you the perfume called Trust, my very best friend. This is our bond!"
For the first time, Lucy thought this guy was actually not so bad. Even his strangely magnetic voice seemed a little fitting, just a little.
"Do not underestimate our guild's Card Mage, Mr. Jura," Gray said, a faint smile appearing on his lips.
"If something goes wrong, I will stop Nirvana alongside Chase, even if it costs me my life," Erza said quietly, her hand on her sword.
Unlike Natsu, she did not care too much about whether the guild had a magical weapon. She did not know how to stop Nirvana either. But her determination was clear.
If she had to give a reason for her support, it was simply her unconditional trust in Chase.
Lyon and Sherry, who had been saved by Chase, also chose to believe in him. Even the timid Wendy, encouraged by Minerva, bravely stepped forward.
"I ended up questioning a comrade I fought alongside... I suppose I was being too cautious."
Seeing this, Jura, who had only been concerned about safety, sighed. He did not say it directly, but the look of resolve in his eyes showed his decision.
"Thank you all for your trust. I will leave the rest to you."
After expressing his gratitude, Chase turned to Dark Magician of Chaos and Chaos Soldier.
The two immediately nodded in understanding. They transformed into streaks of light and flew toward Nirvana's core.
The others stepped back, giving them plenty of space.
To remodel Nirvana, the first step was naturally to undo the sealing magic placed upon it and get this ancient weapon running again.
For Dark Magician of Chaos, who had long explored the depths of magic, this was not difficult.
Though he had only been summoned to the Fairy Tail world a few times, through years of study in the card space with Dark Magician, he already understood the principles behind Fairy Tail's magic.
The Letter Magic that Dark Magician had recently obtained from Freed had also been a great help in cracking the seal on Nirvana.
WHIR! WHIR! WHIR!
As Dark Magician of Chaos projected a complex magical array, the ground shook violently. Dust filled the air.
Amid the falling rocks and shifting sands, pillars of black and white light shot into the sky, churning the clouds.
Nirvana, having been dormant for many years, began to fully awaken. Its true form gradually emerged.
Six giant rock legs supported a small landmass that blotted out the sun. On top of it stood crumbling buildings and clearly defined streets.
It was... an ancient city!
The light of Nirvana covered the entire sky.
At the highest building in the center of the ancient city, everyone struggled to keep their balance. They could not help but gasp in amazement.
"Hey, is this for real? Can something on this scale even be called magic?"
"This is impossible! Turning something like this into a magical weapon is way too reckless!"
"It is a mobile city! Even with our contributions in defeating Oración Seis, the Council would never agree, would they?!"
Looking at this colossal structure stretching for kilometers, even Lucy, Gray, and Erza felt that turning it into a magical weapon was unrealistic.
It was not that they did not trust Chase. It was that this thing was almost half the size of Magnolia!
Natsu, having woken up, did not have anything to say. He was currently in a corner, busy emptying his stomach.
"No problem. We just need to keep the core and remove the unnecessary parts," Chase said calmly.
Though he had known what Nirvana would look like, seeing a city standing in the middle of a forest was still awe-inspiring.
Setting aside its terrifying ability to invert light and dark, its sheer power alone was worth remodeling.
Before anyone could process his words, Dark Magician of Chaos, having figured out how to control Nirvana, lightly waved his staff. A small magic circle appeared around them.
A semi-transparent control panel, glowing with a faint golden light, materialized.
"This should do it. I can now control this magical machine..."
Dark Magician of Chaos tried placing his hand on the panel. The entire city shook violently.
Nirvana slowly moved its three pairs of giant legs forward.
Natsu began to vomit even more violently.
Seeing this, Dark Magician of Chaos withdrew his hand and closed his eyes. A magic circle inscribed with mysterious runes began to glow around him.
Familiarizing himself with Nirvana's control system was only the first step. Next came the crucial part. He needed to analyze its operating principles, then remodel the very nature of its magic, exploring the possibility of eliminating its negative effects.
Chaos Soldier, also summoned, did not participate in this complicated process. Though he was a warrior born from light and darkness, he only had a basic understanding of magic from the Yu-Gi-Oh! world, let alone Fairy Tail's magic.
His task was much simpler and more straightforward. He needed to cut off the leaking energy from Nirvana, protecting everyone present and the surrounding area from the influence of its good-and-evil magic.
SWISH!
Chaos Soldier shot out like a streak of chaotic light, speeding toward the intertwined black and white pillars of light in the sky.
His sword of light dispelled the darkness. His shield of darkness guided the light. Every attack from Chaos Soldier caused tremors in the sky.
The sight moved Ur, Jura, and the mages from the other guilds. They marveled at the endless possibilities of the Card Mage.
Though they had many thoughts swirling in their heads, after some hesitation, they ultimately chose to remain silent, not wanting to disturb Dark Magician of Chaos's analysis.
They had come this far. Even if they wanted to stop it, they would have to wait until after the results were in.
Time quietly passed in the peaceful atmosphere.
About half an hour later, the magic circle surrounding Dark Magician of Chaos gradually dimmed and disappeared.
"So? How did it go? Can we drive this big guy back to the guild?!"
Natsu, his face full of expectation, rushed ahead of the others to ask.
"Did you not hear everyone's concerns earlier?!"
Lucy shot him a big glare. Then, realizing something, she asked with suspicion, "Wait. Are you not feeling sick anymore?"
"Hehe. I am a Dragon Slayer! There is no way a mere vehicle could make me sick!" Natsu proudly lifted his chin.
"Aye~ Wendy's magic helped ease Natsu's symptoms."
While revealing the truth, Happy also tried to flatter Carla. "Just as expected from the mage Carla follows. She really is amazing."
"Hmph!" Carla let out a tsundere snort.
Wendy, embarrassed, scratched her head and blushed. "N-no, it is nothing. It is just a simple spell for treating motion sickness."
The moment she finished speaking, Natsu, who had been showing off for less than a minute, was again overwhelmed by nausea. He collapsed, groaning on the ground.
He weakly raised a hand, wanting Wendy to do it again. But she politely declined, saying that using the spell too much would reduce its effectiveness.
No one paid the fool any attention. Everyone's eyes were on Dark Magician of Chaos.
"In theory, it is possible to remove Nirvana's negative effects."
Dark Magician of Chaos glanced at the control panel, his expression grave. "But the consequences of doing so could potentially disrupt the balance of this world."
Where there is light, darkness must exist. They oppose each other, yet they depend on each other. Neither can exist without the other.
The interplay of light and darkness creates chaos. The mix of good and evil maintains order.
If Nirvana's negative effects were truly eliminated, the initial problems that plagued the Nirvit Tribe would not appear. But over time, the world would slowly crumble.
As a magic explorer with even deeper knowledge and experience than Dark Magician, Dark Magician of Chaos understood this principle well. Hence, his tone was extremely serious.
Hearing this, everyone was alarmed.
Chase, who had been prepared for this, was much calmer. He asked, "Then, is it possible to completely remove the property of inverting light and dark, while keeping only the ability to detect evil intent and goodwill?"
As he had said before, even if Nirvana were just an ordinary magical weapon, the energy contained in its six giant magical crystals alone held immense strategic value.
And the added feature of detecting evil intent could better ensure the guild's safety.
Though no one in their right mind would dare attack Fairy Tail, a tall tree catches the wind. Their S-Class mages and Makarov were not always at the guild.
Especially after Éclair, who possessed the Phoenix's blood and the Phoenix Stone, joined. Certain prying eyes from the shadows would be exposed.
And besides, deep beneath the guild was Lumen Histoire, Fairy Tail's "ultimate weapon" — Fairy Heart.
Having something like this in Magnolia would truly ensure complete safety.
"That should not be a problem. Give me some time, and I can do it."
A faint smile appeared on Dark Magician of Chaos's usually serious face.
Like Celestial Spirits, Card Spirits must unconditionally obey their master, Chase. But he did not want to destroy a world because of that.
Chase's choice brought him genuine relief.
