Deep in the primeval forest, Face stood like a pillar reaching into the night sky. The white stone glowed faintly under the cold moonlight. It was an incredible sight.
On the floating island at Face's southeastern corner, the Edo Chase team's temporary base, inside the small vine building.
"Bastard. Kicking us without a word. We were going to help!" Edo Laxus punched the table.
"No. A promise is a promise. I will settle this with him!"
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He stood up. He walked toward the door.
One step. Two steps. Three steps.
He stopped at the door. He stood there for a few seconds. Then he turned back. "Why did no one stop me?"
"Were we supposed to?"
Edo Gildarts blinked. He smiled. "Let it go, Laxus. He is a hero."
"Fine. Since you said so."
Edo Laxus came back and sat down.
He could not climb that high anyway. Even if he did, he would just get kicked off again.
So, wanting to fight Acnologia was just an excuse. To save face.
That was very different from the Laxus of Earthland. He would fight anyone.
"Idiot," Edo Freed said.
"I prefer your screams from earlier," Edo Laxus said.
"Yours were louder."
"At least I am better than you."
"Want to fight?"
"Let us go! I cannot beat Acnologia, but I can beat you!"
They pressed their foreheads together. Spit flew.
"Haha. Are they always like this?" Chase asked.
He had seen it before. But it was still strange.
He wanted to record this and show it to the Freed of Earthland.
"What are they like in your world?" Edo Bickslow asked.
"Well... In a way, Freed wants to be Laxus's cat."
Silence.
Then, laughter.
"Pfft! Hahaha!"
Edo Gildarts and the others laughed. They pounded the table.
Edo Laxus was happy. He gestured to Freed. "Hey, Freed. Meow for me."
Edo Freed was shocked. He looked at Chase. "You are joking, right? This is not true."
"Why would I want to be his cat?! I will go to Earthland. I will kill the other me!"
He clenched his fist. Dark aura surrounded him. He was scarier than Gray seeing his weak counterpart.
Ignoring him, they returned to the topic of Acnologia.
"What was I thinking? I was so arrogant," Edo Chase said. He lay on the table.
He was supposed to be cautious.
"I was surprised too. I thought you would hide behind us," Edo Evergreen said.
They had been hurt by him before.
"Blame the other you," Edo Gildarts said.
"No. He is a hero!" Edo Laxus said.
Everyone agreed. He had helped them.
"The other me. You are so strong. Do you have special training? Or powerful weapons?" Edo Chase asked.
He had been thinking. They had the same face. The same name. He should be able to be strong too.
Especially after learning about the danger to Edolas. He wanted to be stronger.
"Earthland has weapons that can destroy countries. Even continents. But they use too much magic. They would not work here."
The Council's Face and Etherion. Face might not work on the God Realm mages. Even Acnologia's magic-sealing power only weakened them.
Etherion could destroy them. But it would also use up all the magic in Edolas.
Nirvana used the earth's power. Its Magic Chaos Cannon was powerful. But it was a one-time use. Using it too much would damage the land.
Edo Chase and the others looked sad.
"But. A version for Edolas is possible."
They looked up.
"And... maybe you can use magic."
