She looked out the window, not wanting to entertain him. He had broken his word once more, and with that came dread.
Could he truly not stay away from her? That chilled her; he clearly watched her and William's moves.
Now she wondered how far he went when he was spying on them.
"Are you that upset with me, Luna?"
"Yes."
"I just want you to get home safe."
"Well, you could have done that for Sienna."
"I don't give a fuck about her."
"I don't want you to whatever me, you know."
He chuckled, "To whatever, what you?"
"You know what I mean, I don't want you to feel or have an obligation over me, Ace."
"I can't help it."
"I get that, but you are going to have to.""I will see."
"No, you won't, I don't know how I can make you understand that I have someone in my life and that is all I care about."
"The same goes for me."
"What?"
"Never mind, forget it."
"And unlike you, Ace, I will forget and most importantly, I will keep my word!"
"I DON'T FUCKING CARE LUNA, ANY CHANCE TO TALK OR SEE YOU, I WILL TAKE IT!"
She was frightened by his tone as if he had given up, "You only care about yourself."
"No Luna, if I did, I would not be here, fucken driving you home myself."
"Oh, oh, so I'm supposed to be thankful for getting unwanted attention from you."
"Luna, this is only a ride. Why are you making it such a big deal?"
"Because I know your intentions, Ace, and they are far from pure."
"Afraid William will throw a fit?"
"Don't bring him into this; he has nothing to do with it."
"He has everything to do with it, Luna." He replied through gritted teeth.
She sighed, "I guess you have never been told no in your life."
He chuckled, "You don't know my fucking life Luna, so don't start with your bullshit."
"Let's not leave out the fact that I don't want to know too."
"Of course you don't."
Luna could feel some sort of rejection. She sighed. Maybe she truly did remind him of someone, and they had unresolved issues.
"You should speak to whoever it is, I must remind you of."
"What?"
"I remind you of someone you have unresolved business with."
"That is bullshit."
"No, sometimes our brains subconsciously get confused when we remind them of someone we once knew. That is why you can't help but follow me."
"Follow you?"
"Yes, you are taking out your unresolved issues on me, Ace, can't you see?"
"That's just bullshit you are making up and you know it."
"At least I'm not full of shi......"
She stopped, remembering that this was Ace and what damage he could do to her,
"All I'm saying is that you are taking out whatever this is on the wrong person."
"Luna, I hope you get this."
"Yes."
"I'm not confused as to who you are, what I want from you, and what lengths I will go through just for you."
She swallowed, shivers running through her spine, "The same goes for me then."
"What do you mean?" He replied with a bit of hope, and she couldn't believe how delusional this man truly was.
"That's the way I feel about William."
He nodded, "Every time I get a bit closer, you bring up William as a barrier."
"He is not a barrier but someone I am with."
"I can see how you look at me at times, Luna."
"What?"
"It scares you to see me as something remotely close to a human being."
"No…..no…..I don't, why would I?"
She knew that he was right, and most of all, why did it scare her a bit?
"You see, now I know that you are lying and deep down you know the answer, but you are not willing to face it."
"You know what, I'm done with this."
"Of course, run."
"I'm not running, I have had a long day and I just want to get home, relax without you adding on to my problems."
"At least I'm something in your life."
"A problem is not something to be proud of."
"At least I am on your mind, Luna."
"Seriously?"
He chuckled, "Cute."
They finally pulled up by her place, and she felt such huge relief wash over her; she was free. Luna climbed out of his car.
She was not going to thank him; if she did, he would think it was okay for him to do so when William was not there.
Speaking of William, where was he? She was beginning to worry a lot more. She would stay up until he called.
"Thinking of him whilst I'm here."
Luna knew those threatening words and how they often came with an intense kiss. Her eyes widened.
Without hesitation, she sprinted to her front door, scrambled for her keys, but was having a hard time finding them.
She felt his hand grab her elbow and turn her around. Luna did not hesitate to slap him hard.
