Armaros and Fanah reached their destination as they got off the carriage and watched it go away and made sure that it was out of their sight before they turned to the direction of the mountain of legend. He hummed to himself as the mountain itself is quite big and good to look at, but it also had an air of danger to it.
"Huh, probably why many thought the myth was real. The place has a dangerous air to it." Armaros said to her as they looked at it.
"I agree." Fanah said to him with a nod
The two then walked towards the mountain, their senses sharp for danger as they entered the forest and traversed it to get to the mountain, they were slightly relaxed since the sounds of insects and birds were abundant and coming from around them as they walked through the foliage as he cut the shrubs that got in their way.
"Hmm, guess not many visit this place since plants have grown over the path." Armaros said as he cut more shrubs down.
"That's not entirely surprising, since there isn't much of a reason for others to come here if the legend isn't true. It has an unpleasant air to it." Fanah said to him as they walked.
"Well, let's take a look." Armaros said as he walked through the forest.
And so after they got through the forest, they reached the mountain and looked around for the entrance to the cave which would lead them inside.
"So, do you know where it is?" Armaros asked her as she was the one who knew about it.
"It's that way, at least that's what I heard." Fanah said to him as he shrugged.
It was peaceful for the moment so he was fine just following her instructions, after all he didn't have much information about the myth, and she herself had told him that she only remembers it vaguely because it has been too long.
It didn't surprise him, since this myth was proven to be false by the adventurers who had tried to find it, the fact that she would forget it is a likely outcome, after all, there is no reason for you to remember things that do not have any merit to themselves. So he cut her some slack.
They walked around the base of the mountain and reached an entrance to a cave towards the inside of the mountain, he hummed to himself while Fanah hoped that it didn't have any sort of dangers to it and is just an unremarkable cave.
"Okay, let's go." Armaros said as she nodded to him.
They entered the cave and walked inside with a torch, Armaros at the front while she followed him, the walk was silent as the two kept their eyes sharp around the cave, to make sure that they aren't taken by surprise or they had missed something in the cave.
They walked silently without making any noise, as it could mask the movements of any dangerous things in the cave, especially in a cave where sound could be heard if made in the slightest. And neither of them were suicidal enough to test this and alert any enemies that might exist on hide in the cave.
They knew, that being vigilant in every situation was warranted, only a fool would let down their guard when in such a place. And they do not wish to die so quickly, in a cave of all things.
Fortunately, or unfortunately for them, there was nothing in the cave, even when they reached the end of the cave to a chamber there was nothing, no sigh of a weapon or any sort of artifact, the two did a sweep with their magical senses and only found walls around them.
"Guess there really is nothing in here." Fanah said as she looked around.
"Seems like it." Armaros said with a frown.
'But could this really be all. Legends and myths won't exist in the world without any reason, there must be some truth to it, or this was just a hoax.' Armaros thought to himself as she observed the place.
"So, should we get out?" Fanah asked her Master as he was silent for a bit.
"Yeah. Let's." Armaros said with a slow nod.
He turned and walked at the front like before and she followed him, the light of the torch illuminating their path. But as they were halfway through the cave, Armaros suddenly stopped which surprised her as she looked at him in confusion.
"What is it Master?" Fanah asked him in bewilderment.
Armaros didn't answer, instead he looked to his right and then smirked to himself, and before she could voice her confusion he sheathed his sword and gathered mana in his left hand and punched the wall on his right. Dust was kicked up as the wall was destroyed from his strike as she covered her mouth and nose with her right arm, shocked at what he had just done.
She waited for the dust to settle, and when it did her eyes widened as it revealed in place of the destroyed wall, a path, another way in the cave, and her jaw dropped as she saw it, her eyes unblinking and shocked as she saw the spectacle.
'B-But how, I didn't see it, so how did he do this?' Fanah thought to herself as she looked at the cave and then at her master in shock.
Armaros meanwhile smirked at how his little trick worked. The walls were lined with a magic that put a veil on all those who tried to analyse it, making it so that they would only see the rest of the mountain. It was a clever thing as well, as using magic to see it instead blinds the one who searched for it, thereby blinding themselves by their own hands.
So he did a different thing, after he realised that he was now free of the pain from using his mana, he had started to experiment with it, and utilized his knowledge from Earth to refine and create more magic for himself.
On such spell, was what allowed him to see the way behind the wall to begin with. Utilising his knowledge, he crafted a spell that would give his eyes the ability to see things with x rays. And since there is no magic in what he sees in such a state, he was able to bypass the spell as he was only looking at the wall and not using magic on it.
Of course, it didn't come easy, as he didn't have intricate knowledge on the X-rays and the signs, so he utilised the rays of the sun to craft it. The sun of this world, is reminiscent to the one from Earth, and he was able to find X rays in it, whether the sun is magical or a natural phenomenon, he had no idea, but it has helped him in the creation of the spell. And he understood why none were able to find this path, because this was something that couldn't be seen through by magic, his unique circumstances afforded him the chance to discover it and he was not about to let this go.
'How?' Fanah thought to herself in shock at what he Master has just done.
Armaros turned to the woman and smirked at her flabbergasted expression, and he relished in it as he looked inside the tunnel and breathed in the air from it, earthly, untouched. He knew that this is the path that was told in the myth.
"Time waits for no one. Let's go." Armaros said to her as he stepped inside.
Fanah watched her master walk into the tunnel as she followed him after a few seconds, sighing under her breath as she followed him.
'Of course, he finds out a path that others have not found in years.' Fanah thought to herself as she sighed to herself.
She regretted telling him about the myth now, as it was guaranteed that something is about to happen in this place.
'What will it be this time?' Fanah thought to herself as she followed her master.
