Chapter 507 - Chapter 507: Fate City

Ruins Domain Field.

It was supposed to be treasure hunting, but it felt more like scavenging.

Most of the items in the ruins battlefield had been searched countless times. The valuable items had long since been taken by the past rulers of this domain field, leaving little for them.

But that didn't mean there was no chance.

The items were piled several meters high, and if one dug through them, there might still be a small surprise.

As for finding a miracle item, Feng Qi had no hope whatsoever.

Perhaps the peak period of the tribe that was destroyed by the war under their feet never had any miracle items. Even if there were, they were most likely taken by other races long ago.

After searching for a long time, Feng Qi still hadn't found anything significant.

He did, however, find one rather interesting item.

It was a bone spur left by some kind of domain creature. The creature's body had been completely decomposed, but this spike had remained.

Upon examination, he found that the spike had a slight enchanted effect, which could be used to make anti-magic equipment.

The most important thing was that the bone spur didn't take up much space.

If, during his future travels, he encountered a blacksmithing race, he could spend a certain amount of effort to forge a dagger with an anti-magic effect.

After further searching, Feng Qi didn't find any more valuable items.

At this point, Broken Armor walked up to him, holding a pile of broken objects.

From Broken Armor's expression, it was clear that he was hopeful about these items.

It was similar to Xiao You's situation—clearly, Broken Armor couldn't distinguish the quality of these items and relied on Feng Qi to evaluate their worth.

Feng Qi completely understood this.

Identifying the quality of an item wasn't simple and often required experience.

Broken Armor's knowledge was insufficient to discern good items. He could only roughly guess their value based on the spiritual energy fluctuations inside the items.

If a miracle item with concealed spiritual energy appeared, they could very well miss it.

As for himself, Feng Qi didn't dare claim to have extensive experience in identifying items, but at least he had accumulated a certain amount of knowledge.

Through his time with Hei Ying in the tech research institute, he had encountered many rare spiritual materials.

He had also studied domain knowledge during his time at the Old Day Academy.

Moreover, the timeline where he grew up with Old Mist had also taught him a lot about this field.

He had also encountered some relevant topics in other timelines.

The memories from these multiple timelines had given him his own logical approach to identifying the quality of items.

Even so, Feng Qi didn't dare say that his conclusions were always accurate.

The domain world was vast and infinite, with tools created by various life forms that differed vastly. What he knew was mostly related to flesh-and-blood life forms.

"Boss, can you take a look at these items?"

When Broken Armor asked, he seemed somewhat embarrassed.

In fact, Broken Armor had never been the type to ask others for help. He always handled situations on his own.

For example, there was once when Broken Armor was crossing a rainforest, and while scouting ahead, he was bitten by a small frog-like creature. By the time Feng Qi found him, Broken Armor couldn't walk, his leg swollen three times its usual size.

If Feng Qi hadn't helped him detoxify in time, Broken Armor's tombstone might have already been erected in that rainforest.

Because of that, Feng Qi had spent some effort changing Broken Armor's mindset over time.

Now, facing Broken Armor's request, Feng Qi nodded immediately and reached into his robes to pull out a sharp piece of metal.

The metal piece, eroded by time, had mottled marks but still emitted a faint cold gleam.

From its shape, this metal shard seemed to be the tip of a spear or polearm, though the rest of it was missing, leaving only the part used for combat.

After examining it for a while, Feng Qi shook his head.

"Useless. It wouldn't work well as a dagger for your build. It's hard to use effectively, and the structure inside the spearhead is damaged. It would break easily from external impact."

With that, Feng Qi tossed the spear tip to the ground and picked up the second item from Broken Armor's arms.

It seemed to be a torn piece of cloth from a military flag. The edges had clearly been shredded, and only a corner remained, with an embroidered tail covered in barbs.

Feng Qi touched it and shook his head again.

"The fabric inside is damaged. The material is good, but there's no need to remold it. Useless."

The following few items didn't catch Feng Qi's interest either.

He didn't expect much from Broken Armor's collection.

The chance of finding treasure in a ruins battlefield was too small.

However, when he picked up the seventh item, Feng Qi's expression suddenly changed.

It was a white jade-like bone shard, shaped like a turtle shell. It looked unremarkable at first, but it was engraved with intersecting, very complex patterns.

If it weren't for the intricate pattern on it, Feng Qi would have definitely thought this thing was worthless.

But with that pattern, its value was no longer certain.

He had seen this pattern before, on the space teleportation array set by the Mist Lord. It was a one-way teleportation imprint leading to a special space.

When the imprint on it was activated, it could open a spatial passage that lasted for a period of time.

Feng Qi examined the white jade-like turtle shell with curiosity, wondering where this turtle shell's directional teleportation would lead.

"This thing's not bad, it might be useful."

"What's it useful for?"

Looking at Broken Armor's curious expression, Feng Qi grinned and patted his shoulder.

"It has an activation imprint on it that creates a spatial channel that lasts for a certain period of time. This channel might lead to a treasure trove hidden by the ancient powers under our feet, a place filled with rare resources and weapons."

Hearing his explanation, Broken Armor's expression was one of surprise.

"For you." With that, Feng Qi tossed the turtle shell jade to Broken Armor.

However, Broken Armor threw the turtle shell jade back to him and said seriously, "Boss, let's go together."

"Alright." Feng Qi didn't hesitate and nodded.

The analysis he had just given wasn't a joke—there was a real chance it led to a treasure trove hidden by the defeated forces beneath their feet.

Otherwise, why would so many rare spiritual materials have been used to create this special space artifact?

He glanced down at the turtle shell jade again before waving and storing it in his spatial ring.

Now that he had a spatial ring, he had bid farewell to the days of carrying a backpack.

Next, he led Broken Armor and the others onward in their exploration.

There were no further discoveries, or perhaps there were, but they couldn't distinguish the value of the items, so they were discarded.

The sun rose and set again.

After six days, Feng Qi and the others crossed the ruins battlefield.

Before them appeared a lake covered in aquatic plants—a gap in the human world, located outside the domain field.

Feng Qi decided to rest here for a while before continuing their journey.

No need for orders—everyone immediately got to work and quickly set up a campfire.

Except for Xiao You, who was still sleeping, everyone else was busy.

During their exploration of the ruins domain field, Xiao You had been excited for several days, collecting a pile of junk but never tiring of it.

Feng Qi had also been driven mad by Xiao You's constant chatter.

Every time he discarded the junk Xiao You brought back, it wouldn't be long before she returned, holding another pile of trash, shouting "Boss!" as she rushed from a distance.

For Xiao You, it seemed like every time she picked up some scrap, it was like scratching off a lottery ticket.

And with each result, she had high hopes.

It seemed that in the pile of junk she found, there might really be a miracle item.

During their exploration of the ruins battlefield, Xiao You's sleep time had been halved. She would often wake up, calling on Taihang to run around joyfully.

Her simple, childlike joy was infectious.

By the time they exited the ruins battlefield, Xiao You triggered her sleep mode and immediately fell asleep in an instant.

The magic knife released flames, and the long-untouched roasted meat sizzled and oozed with oil.

As the delicious smell filled the air, Xiao You woke up.

Feng Qi, at that moment, took out the turtle shell jade again.

He was curious where the spatial imprint on the turtle shell jade would lead.

It could very well be a treasure trove, but it could also lead to a dangerous area.

However, he had analyzed the possibilities and felt that the chance of a dangerous area was low.

After all, creating such a complex spatial directional teleportation imprint to make an item that led to a dangerous area made no sense—it would be a waste of effort.

Most likely, the other side of the passage was very important to the creator.

And there was a high probability that it was related to profit.

It couldn't possibly be a space prison—it would be far too extravagant.

With that thought in mind, Feng Qi decided that after eating, he would activate the turtle shell jade and go see where it led, to confirm if it was a treasure trove or a tiger's den.

Reaching into his spatial ring, Feng Qi pulled out a bottle of fruit wine and tossed it to Lei Ting. Then, he waved his hand and tore off a piece of roasted meat, handing it to the eagerly waiting Xiao You.

Xiao You quickly caught the roasted meat with her mouth, chewed and swallowed it, then cheered, "Boss, it's delicious!"

Half an hour later, Feng Qi held the turtle shell jade and tried to activate it.

After a brief moment of waiting, the pattern on the jade was lit up, the energy starting from the bottom and spreading upwards.

When the spatial inscription on the jade was fully activated, the turtle shell jade automatically detached from Feng Qi's hand and floated in mid-air.

Seeing this, Feng Qi immediately stepped back.

The turtle shell hovered and trembled violently, gradually being enveloped by light.

The space around the turtle shell became thick like liquid, and forces began to disturb the stability of the space, twisting and contorting it rapidly.

When the space's stability had been disrupted to a certain extent, a pitch-black rift in space appeared.

Countless stars appeared in the black rift, and Feng Qi felt as though he was seeing a flowing star river.

There was no spatial passage, only an infinite stretch of space extending toward the darkness.

Where the end of this spatial rift led was full of uncertainty.

After a brief hesitation, he decided to step inside and see.

When Feng Qi stepped into the spatial rift, Xiao You immediately followed without hesitation, her face showing no fear as she mumbled, "Boss, wait for me."

Then Broken Armor, Taihang, and Lei Ting all quickly followed.

The unknown is often tied to fear, because the unknown is the source of fear.

Though there was some hesitation in their hearts about what lay at the end of the unknown, none of them chose to retreat.

As they moved through the dark rift, it seemed endless. Feng Qi could feel the space ahead distorting continuously, shortening the long distance to just an inch, constantly expanding.

The darkness lasted unusually long.

When light finally appeared, the space began to stabilize, and Feng Qi felt a strong sense of weightlessness.

The moment his body flew out of the spatial rift, he suddenly realized he was floating in mid-air.

Looking up at the sky, a vast, bright full moon hung high, but the sky was as deep as ink.

This was clearly not the human world.

His body rapidly descended, and the sound of the wind roared in his ears.

Looking down, a bustling city appeared before Feng Qi.

The buildings in the city resembled ancient Chinese architecture, with many grand pavilions and flying eaves.

Thousands of lights illuminated the city, adding a golden and jade-like brilliance to it.

At the top of these buildings, colorful ribbons connected with one another, forming what looked like a slowly blooming seven-colored flower when viewed from above.

Various forms of life from different races could be seen walking through the city streets.

It was unbelievable that various racial factions had reached such an incredible harmony in this world.

The scene reminded Feng Qi of the Shadow City he had visited in a future dream.

But compared to the dignified and majestic cityscape of Shadow City, this city seemed even more dazzling, and there were no street vendors selling items everywhere.

As his body continued to fall, Feng Qi was filled with curiosity.

He couldn't understand why this special spatial city required the creation of a special spatial directional transmission device.

What was so special about this city?

As the speed of his descent increased, Feng Qi turned mid-air and saw Xiao You and the others quickly following. The spatial rift in the sky was still open.

Turning again, the magnificent city grew larger in his sight.

Feng Qi gripped his magic knife tightly, preparing to use his body control technique.

But before he could act, a streak of light flew from the city, moving at an incredible speed and stopping right in front of him. A hand pointed at him, and Feng Qi instantly felt himself surrounded by a gentle energy, stopping his descent in mid-air.

Then, the figure in front of him pointed toward the sky several times, pulling Xiao You and the others toward him.

Only then did Feng Qi clearly see the figure.

It wore a pure white robe, and its exposed head resembled a civet cat, smiling at him. In its hand, it held a fiery red feather fan made from some unknown bird feathers. When it waved, faint red flame energy spread from it.

Looking at Feng Qi, the civet cat spoke.

But Feng Qi couldn't understand what it was saying.

He tried several languages, but none of them worked to communicate with the civet cat.

At that moment, the civet cat sighed, then opened its palm to reveal several red pills.

Feng Qi was puzzled as he faced the pills handed to him, then reached out and took one.

After sniffing it lightly, he licked it carefully.

Instantly, he felt his consciousness begin to expand noticeably.

Looking again at the civet cat, it nodded and pointed to its mouth.

Understanding what the civet cat was implying, Feng Qi immediately swallowed the pill without hesitation.

His mental awareness immediately expanded.

"Guest, can you understand what I'm saying?"

When the civet cat spoke again, Feng Qi was surprised to realize that he could now understand it.

He suddenly realized that the effect of this pill was to help convert language into a form that could be understood by his mental consciousness.

After distributing the pills the civet cat had given them to Xiao You and the others, Feng Qi turned back to the civet cat and curiously asked, "Where is this place?"

"This is Fate City, a city that can fulfill all the desires of the guests. Here, everything can be used as a bargaining chip to gamble with other guests. Whatever you desire, you can find it here."

"I want a miracle item. Do you have it here?"

The civet cat, which had been filled with pride, suddenly became awkward upon hearing this, and then pretended to act nonchalant.

"If you're lucky, maybe. I've seen guests use miracle items as bets before, but the chances of that happening are extremely low."

"So, this is a gambling city?" Feng Qi asked.

"You could say that," the civet cat replied politely, nodding, then leading them down toward the bustling city below.
