•Crimsonheart Kingdom — Restaurant•
[Eliana's POV]
The last bites of food sat cooling on our plates, the sauces congealing into thick pools, the bread growing stiff at the edges. Neither of us had spoken in what felt like an eternity. The restaurant hummed around us—the clink of silverware against porcelain, the low murmur of other diners, the occasional burst of laughter from a table near the window—but at ours, there was only silence.
I kept my eyes on my plate, pushing a piece of roasted meat around with my fork. The motion was meaningless, just something to do with my hands. Something to keep me from looking at him.
But I couldn't stop myself.
My gaze drifted to his hand, resting on the white tablecloth. And there it was. The silver band circled his ring finger, catching the afternoon light, glinting like something precious.
His wedding ring.
