Aemirya stepped out of the portal as a clear blue sky greeted her, the sudden sunlight blinding her for a brief moment.
Two white wings unfurled behind her almost instinctively. She hovered in the air for a few moments before lowering her gaze.
Below lay a massive arena with countless dragons filling the audience stands, their attention fixed upon her.
And seated upon a throne overlooking the arena was an incredibly beautiful woman with pale skin, crimson eyes, and hair as white as the moon itself.
She was Aemirya's grandmother.
The Dragon Queen, Bazooka.
Even as Aemirya descended as the victor of the sacred coming-of-age ceremony, the Dragon Queen's expression never changed.
The same detached boredom remained on her face as though the return of her own granddaughter… meant nothing at all.
Aemirya landed at the center of the arena as the victor. She had never expected praise. But she had at least expected the other dragons to look at her differently.
