Chapter 41 Sharingan
Just as Sakura was scolding Naruto, a huge blade came flying in from the distance.
"Wng, wng, wng..."
The massive sword tore through the air at extreme speed.
The moment he noticed it flying their way, Kakashi immediately shouted, "Everybody get down!"
Although none of them understood why Haku was doing this, they all dropped to the ground anyway.
The great blade swept over their heads and slammed into a large tree.
The next moment, a ninja wearing a Kirigakure forehead protector stood atop the sword with his back to them.
Everyone stared at the ninja who had suddenly appeared on the blade, their faces full of confusion and alarm.
Kakashi stood in front of them, looking at the ninja in the tree.
His expression turned grave. "So it's Kirigakure's rogue ninja Zabuza."
"It looks like this is going to get very troublesome."
The moment Naruto saw Zabuza from behind Kakashi, he pulled out a Kunai and charged forward with a shout.
"So you finally showed up! This time I'm not losing to Sasuke and Yoruha again!"
Naruto had been very dissatisfied with how he performed earlier.
Now that Zabuza had appeared, he felt this was his chance to show what he could do.
So he shouted and rushed at him.
But Kakashi stopped him, his tone stern. "Don't get in the way. He's not an opponent you can handle."
Naruto frowned and said unhappily, "Kakashi-sensei, this time I'm definitely not going to be like before."
Kakashi frowned.
Zabuza was an Elite Jonin, not two ordinary Chunin.
Even Kakashi had to face him carefully. One mistake and he could die here.
And when Zabuza saw Kakashi, his expression also sharpened.
"So it's Sharingan Kakashi."
"No wonder those two brothers failed."
When he heard that, Sasuke froze.
"Sharingan?"
"Kakashi has a Sharingan?"
Ever since the Uchiha Clan had been wiped out, Sasuke had believed he was the only remaining member of the Uchiha Clan in Konohagakure.
Sakura didn't know what the Sharingan was.
After all, Sasuke had never shown it in front of her.
"Sharingan? What's that?"
Naruto also turned to Kakashi and asked, "Kakashi-sensei, what's Sharingan?"
Kakashi said nothing. Sasuke explained from the side, "The Sharingan is a dōjutsu that can see through Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, and taijutsu."
Zabuza glanced at Sasuke from the tree and added, "That's right. That's what kind of eye the Sharingan is. And it can also copy an opponent's jutsu."
"Kakashi, back when I was still in Kirigakure, your information was in the ninja handbook they issued."
"'Copy Ninja' Kakashi. A dangerous man capable of copying over a thousand jutsu."
Sakura and Naruto were both stunned by Zabuza's words.
Yoruha had said before that Kakashi was strong, but they hadn't really had any concrete sense of it.
Now, hearing it from Zabuza, they finally understood just how powerful Kakashi was.
Sakura was dumbfounded. "Kakashi-sensei really is that strong."
Naruto stared at Kakashi in disbelief. "So Kakashi-sensei really is that amazing. Over a thousand jutsu... that's terrifying."
But Sasuke kept his gaze locked tightly on Kakashi.
What he cared about wasn't that Kakashi knew over a thousand jutsu, but that Kakashi actually possessed the Sharingan.
That was an eye unique to the Uchiha Clan.
But Kakashi still hadn't revealed it, so Sasuke still didn't quite believe it.
Kakashi looked at Zabuza, his expression grave. "Looks like this is going to be a hard fight. Sasuke, Naruto, Sakura—form a protective formation and guard Mr. Tazuna."
"Yoruha, this counts as the first time you and I are fighting together."
Yoruha, who had been standing to the side, slowly walked over to Kakashi's side.
He had already drawn a Kunai.
Though Sasuke and the others were unwilling, they all knew they were weaker than Yoruha.
So they could only form a protective formation and place Tazuna in the middle.
Zabuza looked toward Yoruha.
He couldn't tell what was special about him.
"It seems you trust that brat a lot. Is he your disciple?"
Kakashi said nothing and slowly raised his forehead protector.
Sasuke, who had been watching Kakashi the whole time, fixed his eyes even more tightly on his movements.
When Kakashi lifted the headband, he revealed the left eye that had always been covered.
The instant a Three Tomoe Sharingan appeared, Sasuke was stunned.
"It really is the Sharingan. And a Three-Tomoe Sharingan at that. Even within the Uchiha Clan, only a few people could awaken it. Could Kakashi be from the Uchiha Clan too?"
Sasuke actually started wondering if Kakashi belonged to the Uchiha Clan.
Because in Sasuke's eyes, in Konohagakure, only the Uchiha Clan should have the Sharingan.
Sakura and Naruto were also shocked when they saw Kakashi's Sharingan.
It was their first time seeing such a strange eye.
"What kind of eye is that? Why does the aura coming off it feel so terrifying?"
Naruto and Sakura could feel the killing intent Kakashi was giving off now.
And for some reason, Naruto felt instinctively uncomfortable at the sight of the Sharingan.
Kakashi did not answer Zabuza.
Zabuza went on speaking to himself. "I know your file in the ninja handbook very well, so do you think I'd fight you on a battlefield that favors you?"
As he spoke, mist suddenly began to rise all around them.
The eerie scene startled Sasuke and the other two.
All three immediately pulled out Kunai and stood on guard.
Yoruha remained calm.
Even as the area around them was gradually swallowed by mist and visibility dropped sharply, Yoruha could still sense Zabuza's Chakra.
That was one of the abilities of the Chakra within him.
Kakashi frowned. "Using mist to block my line of sight?"
"As expected of Zabuza. If I'm not careful, I really could die here."
Kakashi was somewhat worried about Yoruha. "Yoruha, don't leave my side."
"This is Kirigakure's Hidden Mist Technique. It's a silent killing technique."
"Watch your surroundings carefully."
Ignoring Kakashi, Yoruha kept his eyes on Zabuza, who was currently sneaking toward them.
Though the mist was thick all around them, Zabuza's movements were completely clear within his perception.
When Yoruha didn't respond, Kakashi thought something might have happened to him.
Anxious, Kakashi erupted with the Chakra inside him.
Boom.
A terrifying burst of Chakra instantly blasted away the surrounding mist.
Yoruha's figure was revealed.
Seeing that he was fine, Kakashi let out a breath. "Why didn't you answer?"
Yoruha glanced at Kakashi and smiled. "I thought Kakashi-sensei would be able to sense my presence."
Kakashi shook his head, speechless.
"Focus. The enemy is an Elite Jonin. Don't relax for even a second."
When Kakashi released his Chakra, Sasuke and the others looked at his back with fear on their faces.
"So this is the killing intent released in a battle between Jonin? In a situation like this, dying would almost be better."
The clash between Kakashi's and Zabuza's presences completely overwhelmed Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura.
The terrifying killing intent affected their minds.
Sasuke had even already raised his Kunai and was about to stab himself in the stomach.
His mind had been influenced by the killing intent of both Kakashi and Zabuza.
Even Naruto had a look of fear on his face now, having completely lost the will to live.
