Chapter 766 - Chapter 763: Demon Hunter

"Crippled?" Dany asked in confusion.

"You didn't really think I created the Auroth Grand Explosion just to take your life, with no effect at all on Lamb Egg, did you?" The Black Sun gave a cold smile. "He suffered a heavy blow, and then I kicked him while he was down, seizing one-third of his power.

"He is incomplete now. Even if you swallow him, you still won't be able to break through realms by sheer force and forcibly advance to a true god."

"You stole my big gift pack. You're basically forcing me to kill you," Dany said, murderous intent flashing in her eyes.

"Your big gift pack?" The Black Sun sneered. "What do you think my purpose was in cultivating Lamb Egg? You and him are both my big gift packs!"

"OK, you've successfully packaged yourself into a beautifully irresistible big gift pack," Dany said, with not a trace of hesitation left in her eyes.

The Black Sun said mockingly, "Do you think there's still room for reconciliation between us?"

Dany raised a thumb and praised him. "Your awareness really is on another level!"

Then she decisively waved her hand. The smith's divine flames that smelt all things surged in from every direction, completely engulfing the Black Sun.

"Ao~~~~~~"

The Black Sun boiled within the smith's divine flames, melting like ice, yet also like ice within fire, evaporating vast amounts of spirit essence and divinity. He howled in agony and cursed loudly at the same time.

"I curse you, Daenerys. I curse you madly. I curse the Night's Watch and those blasphemers. When you enter the world of death, I will make you understand what ultimate terror truly is!"

Do not think a demon god's curse is mere bluster. Their language carries immense power, enough to influence the fate of the vast majority of beings in the world.

"I am the lord of death and shadow. Just wait. Death will one day descend upon you. This is an eternal, unchanging fate. I will—ah ao~~~~"

Dany's expression was icy and unmoved. She simply increased the output, and the flames roared even more violently.

To kill the chicken and scare the monkeys, she even dragged over another demon god that had been suppressed in the Pool of Faith.

Yes, Lamb Egg, with only two-fifteenths of his divine soul remaining.

"Hahaha, I didn't expect retribution to come this fast. R'hllor, does it feel good? Hahaha!" Lamb Egg was not frightened at all. Instead, he was thrilled, laughing gleefully in mockery.

"Tell me R'hllor's secrets, and his retribution will be even more miserable," Dany said to Lamb Egg.

"Hahaha!" Lamb Egg burst into manic laughter. "Do you think my hatred for you is any less than for that bastard? Seeing him suffer makes me happy. Seeing you suffer makes me even happier. Seeing the two of you kill each other and fall together would make me so happy I'd climax!"

Dany nodded and sighed. "I have to admit, you make a lot of sense. Burning you makes me happy. Burning the evil god R'hllor makes me twice as happy. And now—"

Boom!

A mass of smith's divine flame, like glazed crimson crystal, fell upon Lamb Egg's divine soul.

"Ao ao ao—" Lamb Egg screamed in pain as large amounts of spirit essence and divinity evaporated. Yet they merely passed once through Dany's wind divine soul before returning to Lamb Egg's divine soul.

Lamb Egg suffered no damage, only endless pain.

Of course, the spirit essence that evaporated and then returned had been branded with Dany's will.

However, "Dany's Whisper" seemed ineffective against him. After the spirit essence returned to Lamb Egg's divine soul, the imprint she had left within it slowly faded.

Moreover, Lamb Egg noticed it and loudly mocked her. "Trying to control my soul? Hahaha, keep dreaming!"

"It's fine. At least it can let you persist forever without dying. Just listening to your wailing makes it worth it no matter what.

"Just like now. As you said, seeing both of you evil gods in pain makes me so happy I could explode!" she said with a smile.

"I curse you. I will curse you madly~~~~" Lamb Egg began to imitate R'hllor.

"Language is like the wind. Curses are also language. Only the weak cry out in unwilling screams," Dany mocked.

The Black Sun evaporated far richer spirit essence and divinity than the corpse of the bull monster, pure divinity of death and shadow.

As before, it was all handed over to Big Black to absorb. However, something strange happened this time. No new divine office was born. Instead, an enormous amount of death divinity was added.

That's right. Big Black gained a massive amount of death divinity.

Previously, Big Black had no death divine office. Even if he absorbed death divinity, it was like an ordinary person absorbing glucose or amino acids from food. Everything was converted into "dragon divinity" to strengthen his divine soul and body.

Now, he had gained the divine office of the "Stranger," and the Stranger corresponds precisely to death and mystery.

To give an inappropriate example, a man eats Lamb Egg to supplement eggs.

But without eggs, there is naturally nothing to supplement.

Now that Big Black has an "egg," eating Lamb Egg can truly supplement eggs.

Simply put, gods holding the same office have the possibility of plundering divinity from one another.

Yes, the Smith, the Mother, and the Warrior divine offices also possess divinity. However, Dany had never encountered the same type of divinity in other evil gods before, so no plundering had ever occurred.

The Stranger was the first.

It was easy to imagine that in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, which is littered with evil gods, the probability of encountering death divinity would be extremely high.

Although no new office was added, the Stranger, whose death divinity had skyrocketed, brought Dany an enormous surprise.

This manifested in two specific ways. First, after loading the Stranger divine office, her adaptability to the world of death became much stronger. She could almost detach from the real world entirely, hiding 99 percent of her body in the world of death, leaving only a cluster of dim shadows in place.

Yes, just like those dark demon gods.

She could not turn invisible, but the presence was impressive and perfectly suited the Stranger's identity as a symbol of death and the unknown.

There might be other functions as well, but the time was short, and Dany had not yet developed them.

Second, the range of the death domain that the Stranger could control became broader.

Perhaps one day in the future, Dany really could help Big Black establish a seven-layer hell.

Uh, the people of Westeros almost say "seven-layer hell" every day, but in fact, there is no seven-layer hell in this world at all.

Just like when Dany had earlier teased Tyrion, saying he would meet his old father on the seventh level of hell, that was complete nonsense. The Seven Gods are fake, so how could a seven-layered hell possibly exist?

If Dany were to establish a seven-layered hell specifically for the people of Westeros, its structure would probably closely resemble the "Ghost City of Fengdu" and the "Hell of Mount Tai" in the myths of the Celestial Dynasty.

The underworld is Fengdu's so-called "cave-heaven."

The world of death is the shadow of the real world. To establish a seven-layered hell in the death world, one must first find, in the real world, a geomantically auspicious site that connects yin and yang.

Yes, Dany would need to find a place in Westeros similar to Fengdu or Mount Tai and establish a cave-heaven called the Seven Layers of Hell.

Building the seven-layered hell was still far off, but with her divinity of death surging dramatically, the Stranger indeed gained a new ability: using the Stranger's divine power to bring the souls of the dead to a designated place.

For example, if Stranger Dany entered the world of death, as long as she was willing to expend divine power, she could summon all the undead within a certain range.

This was not limited to followers of the Seven Gods. All souls that had not yet dissipated could be summoned.

This ability itself was nothing special. If a god of death could not even control the nearby undead, what kind of god of death would that be?

But Dany suddenly had an inspiration. Drawing from the concept of "indulgences" in Christianity from her previous life, she wondered: if she could store the Stranger's divine power in runes, could she, upon the death of the rune's bearer, bring that person's soul to the Seven Layers of Hell or to Heaven?

At present, since the Seven Layers of Hell had not yet been built, the soul could only go to Heaven.

Well, no one would spend money to buy an indulgence just to go to hell anyway.

Dany's "indulgences" were not a joke. This was a heartfelt idea.

Before obtaining 1 percent of the Green Seer's Mark, the standard for ascending to Heaven was as high as 200 points of faith. Now, because absorbing 1 percent of the Green Seer's Mark brought recognition from Westeros's "Heavenly Dao," the standard had dropped to 100 points.

Unfortunately, among Dany's underlings, even someone as devout as old Barristan had only a little over sixty points of faith.

In the Battle of Meereen, quite a few followers who had been with her for many years died. Their souls all entered the world of death and vanished without a trace.

If they turned into spiritual matter and dissipated on their own, that would be fine, as they would at least return to heaven and earth.

But if they were targeted by demon gods and seized to be toyed with at will, do not doubt it. Given Dany's popularity, there were certainly many evil gods who envied and hated her. They could not do anything to her directly, but they could vent their anger by tormenting her followers.

After all, "Who told you to help Daenerys oppose me while you were alive?"

An evil god might think that way.

Just like before, the curse of the shadow demon R'hllor, saying that once you enter the world of death, I will make you understand what ultimate terror is.

The coming Long Night would be even more brutal. Close confidants like the Great Bear, Quaithe, Grey Worm, and Belwas were not devout followers of the Seven Gods, and after death they could not automatically ascend to Heaven.

Of course, Dany could help them use connections, just as she did for Aegon, but it was impossible for her to keep watch over them at all times and witness their deaths.

In fact, that incident with her grand-nephew was also a coincidence. If Dany had not obtained 1 percent of the Green Seer's Mark, she would not have heard his wailing pleas to the Mother at all.

If the Great Bear were to die while neither Dany nor the Black Goat was in a Seven-Gods state, she would not hear his prayers either, just like the old Septa of Snakewood who was burned to death alongside her grand-nephew back then. Dany was offline and could not hear him.

If she could not hear them and could not perceive them, she naturally could not help them use connections.

It might even be that the Great Bear was not afraid of death. Even if Dany happened to be in a Maiden state, if he faced death calmly and did not pray to the Seven Gods at all, she still would not hear him.

If she did not know, she could not descend a miracle and bring his soul into Heaven.

Therefore, a portable "Heaven entry ticket" was very necessary.

If possible, Dany wanted to give one to every one of her followers.

After all, Heaven was hers. Those who gave their lives for her certainly deserved the best treatment.

"So, what kind of title do you think I should take? Skin-Stealer Slayer? That sounds terrible. Bull Demon Slayer? That sounds awful too. Think about it. Is there a name that sounds mighty, domineering, and rolls off the tongue?"

Dany had just walked out of the King's Tower when she heard the pockmarked knight loudly boasting of his great achievements in the courtyard.

Not only were there knights of the Fiery Heart around him, but hundreds of idle Night's Watchmen and wildlings were gathered as well.

Even the old doctor with the red nose was among them.

They stared wide-eyed, listening intently, occasionally letting out admiring exclamations, which made the pockmarked knight even more pleased with himself.

After the story of "Richard bravely fighting the servants of the Cold God" had been told for the Nth time, the protagonist of the tale began to consider getting himself a resounding title.

For example, his former companion Godric Farling, who became known as the "Giant Slayer" because he looted a giant's corpse.

Dany walked over and said with a smile, "Why not call yourself 'Demon Hunter'?"

"Ah, the Dragon Queen is here!" The crowd was startled and immediately turned to salute Dany.

Dany waved her hand, signaling everyone to relax, then said to the slightly stiff Knight of the Fiery Heart, "Let me bestow upon you the title of 'Demon Hunter' as a reward for your merits in the incident involving the servants of the Cold God. How does that sound?"
